    I took my new kayak out for the first time Sunday and came home and immediately started researching anchors.

    Definitely get a cart instead of strap, and 1 good anchor and anchor wizard with a anchor trolley gives u the ability to face the kayak any direction vs just 2 directions with this 2 AW setup

      Definitely have a cart just always end up using my strap more haha i see both ways, im a fan of quick and effective. And yes ive gone the trolley route with one before i settled on two. It was great honestly, my only drawback was not have an easy way to stow the anchor with the trolley. I always found myself facing directly into the wind or directly away from the wind regardless, so it works for me! Thanks for the feedback though love hearing everyone's setups!

      Definitely get wheels/dolly. Will reduce the wear from dragging your kayak from your vehicle to the launch point. There are many affordable options out there.

    Love how thoughtful each item on your kayak is. There’s not a ton of space but you’ve managed to utilize it well

    Love the video however, please just get a kayak cart 😭hah they are very affordable and will extend the lifetime of your kayak to the point that dragging it or moving it will never wear down your kayak

      I have a kayak cart that I use as well! This vid was just highlighting 5 things that I could not live without, like the bare bones essentials for me. Totally agree a cart is the move!

    How well does an anchor wizard work in rivers? I fish facing up stream

    • @jakemeetsfish
      @jakemeetsfish  5 місяців тому +1

      I cannot say from personal experience as I primarily fish florida lakes, but I know from watching youtube videos of river fishermen that they are the anchor system of choice. For a more detailed breakdown I recommend watching "The Little Stuff" youtube channel. He is a very experienced and advanced kayak angler who shows all his kayak setups and how to do it.

    What product is that allowing dual rod holders?
    I can see the argument for anchors if your paddling but when pedalling I hardly use it. Certainly still occasionally use it for some situations but it gets used less for me.

    • @jakemeetsfish
      @jakemeetsfish  3 місяці тому

      They are called "side arms" made by yakattack, I think they are linked in the video description. Yeah anchors definitely needed as a paddler but I can see if you have a peddling boat how it becomes less essential!

      We're not kayakers, we're fisherman. Much rather save my time and energy out in the water for fishing. The paddles are always there for back up, but I'm not gonna paddle for half of my time out in the water. Work smarter not harder

    Dont understand why you would drag a kayak across dirt and concrete "wear and tear evenly" when you could get a $50 cart and "wear and tear...none"

    • @jakemeetsfish
      @jakemeetsfish  10 днів тому

      I have a cart for extended drags, but if im going from my car 50 feet to the shore to launch, i hate loading all my gear onto the kayak and then onto the cart just to have to walk it back to the car or try and find a spot on the kayak once I get to the water. Its just convenience and efficiency thats all, I use both.

  • @waterpatterns

    Or... don't drag your kayak... 50 years of paddling, I have never needed to drag (and ruin) a kayak.

    • @jakemeetsfish
      @jakemeetsfish  3 місяці тому

      Fair enough! If I were just paddling my boat of choice would probably be about half the weight of this one, so that would be a lot more feasible to carry. Thanks for watching!

    Sorry but have to disagree with your recommendation on the anchor wizards. Totally over-priced item, $140+ for a hand crank and chute?! And you have TWO?
    Use a divers reel with a larger handle mounted on a track (if you want) with the anchor chute…
    $55 total.

    • @jakemeetsfish
      @jakemeetsfish  5 місяців тому +1

      I totally agree it's overpriced, but unfortunately theres nothing else like it on the market. It is the best "plug n play" no headache anchor system out there. Thanks for the feedback!
