Nice overview as usual :) 1. Totally agree that Corpse grinders are the most OP gang in Necromunda, mainly due to how undercosted all fighters are (but Initiates in particular for the stat-line, unlimited weapon access and free Infiltration they get). Adding the cost of their 'free armor (+10/15) and extra starting skill (+20)' would help rain them in at least a bit (Initiates costing 50-55 creds would be more in line with 'normal' ganger/prospects). 2. One detail about the various Corpse grinder masks (except the Butcher's mask which gives that 6+ 'Invulnerable save') you forgot to mention is that they add +1 to the wearer Armor (which stacks with Undersuits, so Cutters/Skinners can get to 3+ Armor paying just 25 creds for Undersuits). 3. About Threat ranges: Cutter (M5'') + Stim Slug stash (+2'') + Corpse Grinder icon buffx2 (+2xD3'') + Charge (+D3'') = 10-16'' 'basic' charge; if you add in an Overseer Butcher or a tactic card to gain an extra activation to let the Cutter run before declaring the charge the threat range grows to 28-42'' (depending what you roll on those +D3'') with non-versatile weapons; if they happened to have a Rotary flenzing saw, Tenebrous scourge or some of the weirder Xenos weapons from Black market, that distance extends further 3-5''... 4. 'Nerfs' a Corpse grinder player might impose on themselves to 'avoid losing friends': - Treat Initiates as normal gangers, in that they can use only Pistols, Melee and Basic weapons, while one of them at creation can be a Specialist to have access to Special and Heavy weapons (Orlock and Van saar specialists can use Heavy weapons as well, so that isn't so much of a stretch). Roll random advances on them (like normal gangers) and add the cost of their starting armor to their base cost (the masks are unique to them, like Body-suits are for Van saars). - Avoid taking Overseer on the Butcher and go for some 'fluffier choice' like Frenzy or Bull charge on him, while also avoid 'spamming' Slaughter-borne and Paired chain cleavers on all the Cutters: Personally I gave 2x Boning swords to my Butcher, Paired Heavy chain cleavers on the 1st Cutter, a Rotary Flensing saw on the 2nd Cutter (who also carries the CGC icon and has Rain of blows as starting skill) and some other 'more exotic' CC weapons for the 3rd Cutter later in the campaign (the smaller/thinner Chain cleavers in the kit could easily also represent Gore drinker axes or 'plain old' Chain axes). This way the gang is still a melee powerhouse, but it is not quite as egregiously OP as their 'original form'. Anyway, keep up the good work and cheers! :)
Oh man! The shoot out mission - I had Van Saar against these guys. Every turn hurt so much, just walking toward them not shooting... then all my plasma guns overheated. What a game. Loving these videos!
Thanks for this video. I picked up the Corpse Grinders for my first gang and although I've only played two skirmish games, I could tell they were actually really strong. We tried out different house rules with the Terrifying rule, such as not losing the action when you fail the willpower test, just cant target the same CGC again. Helped the opp player since he could just target a diff CGC right nearby, or shuffle out of range of a charge. I'll definitely bring up the -2 to hit another commenter suggested or some variation of it with my gaming group. Watching this and reading through the comments has definitely helped with scaling back my Campaign list so I can at least try and avoid becoming that guy. Thanks for the info and keep up the awesome work, there aren't enough Necromunda content creators like you out there!
thank you for the information. i am just about to start a campaign with corpse grinder cult but i want people to amuse them. will be making them even less crazy
I'm a total newbie, so are my friends, and I bought these guys because I thought they looked cool (and gross!) as hell. Glad to know I'll be winning non stop 😅😉 thanks for the video.
I have no idea why I thought this was a painting guide for making blue-ish corpse grinders! xD Very informative video though...never tried playing necromunda. Do have a video on the ash waste nomads? I really like those minis. Mostly because they look better as traitor guard than traitor guard themselves...
Not a fan of the CGC. I wish they'd gone more the route of corpse starch factory workers gone insane rather than full-blown warriors of khorne with overpowered hats.
Nomads don’t do too bad against CGC - highly mobile firepower plus access to web all help, plus the duneskuttler can go toe-to-toe (albeit struggling with those bloody masks).
Hey man! Great video…my buddies and I all picked up gangs and are planning to play for the first time next weekend…I picked up Corpse Grinders because the models were the coolest…what can I do to avoid a negative play experience for my group? Sounds like limiting the initiate weapons is a start, but I don’t want to go into my group and ruin the game so we don’t play again lol. I would love some feedback for a newb.
If you're a new player and your conscious of being a nice dude then that's really it. I would agree that limiting the initiates to perhaps just pistols and close combat makes a lot of sense. But really just avoid spamming weapon types in general mate and play for the fun and enjoyment
I'm looking at getting into Necromunda and was going to go Cawdor but based on your material CGC are a good starting gang... a they aren't a "house" gang where are the rules?
I love the gang visually and gameplay style and play them since release. I just hate thT the rest kf my group doesnt want to play me most of the time. One thing I would advise if you have these guys in campaign. Instead of not being able to attack the model and loosing your action make it give a -3 to attack. It's still quite unlikely to hit but to the other player it feels less like BS.
Haven't played as them yet, but I wouldn't say the no more op then a Goliath theme smithing with paired melee and stem slug stash, my mates was able to hit upto 14 times in one attack an with tactics cards was able to attack 3 times in a round. 🤣🤣🤣
@@wellywoodwargaming I haven't won a game while including our third player blazing everything an cordor, but I also can't roll to save my life 🤣🤣🤣 still love every minute of playing.

Sounds terrifying 😳
Ugh!
Honestly loving these videos, as an orlock player, using scare gas and flash grenades to get rid of ready markers is great against corpse grinders.

Great painting! I love the cold blue, undead color scheme you used on your gang. And excellent work on those initiates!!!
Thanks a lot! Yeah I'm pretty happy with these guys overall and glad I decided to go with the opposite of the typical scheme too

Great presentation...I learned much
Im a necromunda newby and had my first encounter with these guys. Holy s... did they ripped me apart
Either that player is a bully to new guys or felt like you could take it on the chin 🤣

Note to self: initiates with flamers - use infiltrate - have the butcher and his champs do the rest
Good stuff. Thanks. I do love their dark, bloody lore. Not my play style though.
They're an acquired taste so to speak 😆
@@wellywoodwargaming lol. Yuk
Has GW released an errata or "nerf" to the Corpse Grinders yet?
No, but the other gangs have caught up somewhat to be sure
Guess i'm just playing my Corpsegrinder gang wrong.
I've lost every match in a campaign so far!
Well at the end of the day it's a dice game too so there is also that
Yea... Two guys from my group generally loose interest in Necromunda after playing with Corpse grinders. They really broke our campaign.
What would be a reasonable price for initiates? 55 credits? And the rest? Bump all by 15 credits?
1000 😁

Also what has come up for debate is the terrifying rule, and if someone fails the check can they shoot again or if it uses their basic action up?
This is the only gang I won't play against. It is just no fun.
You just gotta find the right counters and scenarios for it
Do another vid, sans the salt.
Ha no salt here my friend, but things have changed a little since I did this and things have balanced out a little with the other gangs I reckon
