Thank you so much for sharing this! My first time Engraving on, "Unknown Material" as I had no clue how to enter my own settings 😂. Thanks for making it easy on me, your settings were perfect on mine!
Great vid- thanks for sharing your settings. Already had the coasters on hand, but had never tried to figure out the settings. Didn't need to after I saw your video. Also saved me the time of measuring the thickness of the coasters, haha.
Just finished my first real project with your help. Thanks for the thorough instructions.
I agree, these turned out really really good! Thanks for the great instructions!
Love the way your present throughout the video especially with the popups of pictures
Thanks a Million!
Great video! Loved how you walked us through all the steps. I just subscribed 👍
Well DONE!
They came out beautiful. More than anything you have solved a major mystery for me. Not tech savvy at all, but have managed to learn my GF a little more everyday. What you just said about PNG' s has blown my mind. I finally understand why I couldn't separate the words from the image if it was a PNG'. Thank you so much. I'll be looking for slate tiles this week.☺️
Thanks a Million! I'm glad I could help. You're welcome.
Nice job with those coasters Troy! Keep up the great work!! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Will do!
Wow; I actually just done the slate coasters yesterday. Thanks for sharing Troy
Hope you enjoyed it!
Awesome man, just tried out today excellent instuctions. Love your video's man. THANKS!
I appreciate it. You’re welcome.
Thank you
I just got my GF a week ago and the pdf tip is a life saver. I have to find an easy editing software to use but for now I'm learning just the GF software. So far I made keychains, a sign, and a GF button decor. Thanks for the inspiration. ✌🏾
Glad I could help! Have you tried Inkscape? It's free. I know a lot people that use it and it tons of tutorials on youtube.
@@TroytheMaker no but I'll try it. Thanks.
Waiting patiently to get my Glowforge (next month) so I'm looking for ideas (other than the many swirling around in my head). Thanks a lot for your input. Helps a lot
Thanks a Million! Thanks for watching!
Another great video, keep them coming
Thanks, will do my best!
Damn really nice! I did not know it was possible to do that on slate, I'll keep that in mind for future ideas.
Thank you. I didn't either until one day I saw someone on etsy selling slate engraved boards.
I purchased my GF under your code a while back! I enjoy your videos. thank you
I appreciate it more than you think! Thanks a Million!
I love it.
Thank You!
Awesome!
Thanks!
Great job as usual
I appreciate that!
good job ... excellent work
Thanks a Million!
I just purchased a glowforge under your discount code yesterday. Thank you for the awesome content.
Thanks a Million! I appreciate it more than you think!
@@TroytheMaker YOu are very welcome. I ordered the Pro and I am so excited to receive it in a few weeks.
Nice work Troy.
Thanks 👍
Thanks for the PDF tip!
No problem!
Clean
Thanks
Currently engraving slate, from Michael's, as I watch this. Using the Ortur Laser Master 2 pro.
Dope!
I bought a Glowforge and used your referral link
Thanks a Million! I appreciate it more than you think!
Great job my man, and that's a great tip about the PNG vs PDF moving things around. I love engraving slate, but, I have stopped using mineral oil and hit them with some spray lacquer first. Dries way faster than the oil and seems to come out way more crisp
Thanks. Great tip! I'll have some orders I'll most likely give it a try on one of them.
Hey I tried some spray lacquer also but it dries quick and I got a white film. What did I do wrong. thanks
@@trevellw8210 Hey there, I normally apply just one, quick light coat and that seems to do the trick for me... What kind did you use and how much?
Ryan Niemer hey Ryan I used regular spray lacquer from Home Depot I sprayed and it has a light hazy film on it I read bottle it appears to be a clear coat so wonder if I sprayed to much but first coat I sprayed was not clear unsure I was going to ask at Home Depot let me know which you use thanks
@@trevellw8210 That's really strange. It IS possible you used a bit too much, but it should have still worked. I use Watco brand spray lacquer, preferably in Semi-Gloss when I have any. Don't give up though. Shake that can for a good couple of minutes, make sure it's not too cold outside (or wherever you're spraying), use light coat (it doesn't take much) and see if it improves any. You can feel free to email me too at ryan.niemer@gmail.com
Niiiice!
Thanks!
Really cool project! Love how these turned out 🔥 I also like the way u say “oil” 😂
When you’re working on a new material, how do u choose the settings? Are u using some kind of guide or do u just have to guess and test?
Thanks a Million! Sometimes, I do a some research and other times I go through trial and error.
Really dope I love it... 👍🏽
Glad you like it.
Boss !!!! so, did the machine run the whole 41 minutes straight ? Good Work
I appreciate it! Yeah, it ran the whole 41 minutes.
Wish I knew about the oil, the model that I etched on slate would have been even better.
It be like that sometimes.
Can you do granite on pictures
How much does it cost to get started with this
Troy, I want to do a project that will be outside. Any idea how long that oil will last?
Not sure. Before I did this video I made some for my Aunt about two month before and she say her still look good.
Troy, currently using a diode laser, considering a glowforge. How long did it take to make these 4 coaster?
It took about 35 minutes using the basic model glowforge.
Do you think you could create a video of photo engraving on slate? I've been trying different settings but can't master it yet.
What kind of slate?
@@TroytheMaker I buy 7x9 pieces of slate from JDS Industries. They're about 1/4" thick
so how do they hold up over time?
They hold really good. I apply mineral oil from time to time to keep that shine.
How do I make the square's an size them an write on inside of them? I using inkscape unless there's another program that's easy..
I don't know in inkscape. I use coreldraw.
Hi where do you get your coaster material from ?
Hey. I got these from Michaels.
bro.try black granite tiles
I appreciate the suggestion! Writing it down.
how much power in watts do you need minimum to be able to engrave in slate?
Depends on the material you're engraving.
Have you done granite? Marble?
Marble yes but no video. Granite.. No.
Those are dope to bad I don't have a man cave but I have a Merc
HaHa..You can still use some. They match the Merc.
I have a challenge for you. We’ve decorated the mancave, bathroom, and jeweled ourselves. What about our car? What can we do with the laser to up-style our car?
I plan on buying a new car at the beginning of year that is probably why I haven't though about decorating or making something for a car, but I do have a video coming about a decorating a 🚲 Don't tell anybody. Hahah
Troy the Maker 🙊
which glowforge are you doing this on cause my aura doesnot go to 900
Where to purchase coasters?
I got them from Michaels.
