Thank you! This was exactly the info I've spent days searching for. Managed to remove the unit as per your guide, sure enough plastic casing was cracked. Thanks again.

While you're there, put in a 7mm EGR restrictor plate. It'll still pass emissions, and it won't throw codes at that level of restriction.
You'll have many less headaches down the line.

Did you have trouble bleeding the coolant afterwards, I've done this job tonight on my st tdci. I seem to have a nasty air lock though, so need to go back to it and get my head around it.

No buddy. I used a coolant purge tool. I’ve done a video on using it. Great bit of kit. Search my videos for coolant purge tool.

It would be much nicer if they used a common aftermarket type thermostat, instead of their AIO plastic fantastic contraption for 10x the cost. You can get aftermarket thermostats with jiggle pins that make coolant changes a breeze.

Thanks for this - I have a strong smell of fumes in the car periodically at idle, normally after periods of local driving on a 2015 Kuga with the same engine. The other day I even saw the fumes. Could this be related to the EGR? ua-cam.com/video/k4gxVDHOaYM/v-deo.html

I expect the smell is from the diesel injectors. Pop off the engine cover, you may hear a hissing noise when running and a build up of black carbon.
