      Why not just cut the inserts that are a little too long for the cloth diaper ? Also maybe you can learn how to make the cloth diapers yourself that would be a cool video to watch you make them, you can use the ones you have to copy the pattern of the diapers you have, you just need any cute material for the outside part, there are videos on UA-cam that can help you learn to make them yourself it’s not hard to do just need elastic and buttons or Velcro and some cute fabric that she isn’t allergic to and just cut the inserts to fit so they are not to long for the diaper .

      I would recommend you watch Jess is Blessed, Leina’s Life and Jay’s nest - then from my own experience, I would recommend for you to get some hemp inserts to pair with any microfiber you might get with any diapers you have ordered.....hemp has been a game changer in successful cloth diapering bc we never get leaks (the leaks we’ve gotten is bc I’ve taken too long to change the night diaper after our baby wakes up or take too far too long to change him in general.....any parent with teens and all the rest of the kids’ crazy schedules will run up to 3 1/2 hrs without changing a diaper....real life situations aren’t avoidable) Oh, and a cloth diaper sprayer - not only a game changer but a life saver ☺️

    Alvas are surprisingly more durable than you would expect. Especially once you get a full stash of 35-40.I’ve been using the same set that I purchased three years ago. I’ve used them on three, soon to be four kids with minimal incident. My BumGenius pockets bit the dust long long before any of my alvas did. But the prefolds and flats as inserts instead of the traditional microfiber or bamboo inserts is literally the best advice I’ve seen. I tell everyone to throw away the inserts that come with the diapers and just use prefolds. They are so much easier to clean, and absorb so much better, and they’re natural easily renewed fibers. Pulling in the inside is totally normal just because of the type of stay dry fabric they are.

I desperately wanted to cloth diaper our daughter but when she was born we lived somewhere that didn’t have laundry so I couldn’t fathom it. As a mommy who used cloth diapers on my three poops. I love em. I have read all the chemical no-nos. BUT, I used a little bleach, and raised them twice also. Then I always hung them up. Here in Northern California you always have enough sunshine. And they say that a crisp, harder diaper is so much better than drying them in a dryer. Getting the sunshine through them is so healthy. My got rashes to with disposable ones. I used Carters from Penneys, stacking two during the day and three at night. And Snow is old enough that you probably know the time of day she goes number two, so for an hour or two get some big girl panties and put them on her, little pee pee isn't gonna hurt anything and her little bottom gets some fresh air and stays dryer. Live that you hang the over pants is great. But hang a little line on your porch honey, then hang the diapers up and let them get that sunshine...

    I used Alva pocket diapers with my daughter. I used the insert mostly for night along with a prefold. I would say the rashes are caused because the diaper pulls all the moisture which dries out baby's skin. What I did was used coconut oil as a barrier cream. Worked like a charm and no more rashes.

    U can dry cloth diapers in the dryer but on low to medium heat. Not high. U seem to have microfibre liners and covers so they are really hardy even with elastic. Your drying cycle might be reg or longer but just keep the heat level to medium max

    why do you wash them two times ? just curious . Those machines need a lot of energy and theres alot of water waste. two times wont make it more hygenic

    • @kaitlinrobbins7307

      ελλεν V. You do a cold wash to wash the matter out of the fabric because it’s soaked all the way in the layers not only on the surfaces and then a hot wash to clean and sanitize.

    • @artieatdawn
      @artieatdawn 4 роки тому +5

      It's*necessary* to do the 2-wash method on ALL cloth diapers to properly clean them. It's not about sanitizing them, it's about getting all of the waste and fecal matter out of all the layers of fabric. If you wash cloth diapers properly and bulk the load with dirty clothes (like you're supposed to!), it's not any more water than you would already be using because you're washing loads that needed washed anyway.

    • @ChannonRose
      @ChannonRose  4 роки тому +1

      A. Kozak hi love! Just saw your comment and it sounds like you know way more than I do. Did you say you are supposed to wash the diapers with regular clothes as well?

    • @artieatdawn
      @artieatdawn 4 роки тому +2

      @@ChannonRose hi! It depends on your machine but in most cases, yes! The diapers require friction to agitate properly and get the waste out of all their layers. I'm not sure how much additional bulk top loading machines use, but with my front-loading HE machine, the total amount of space used between the diapers + other clothes is 2/3 of the drum space. My entire cloth diaper collection didn't take up 2/3 of the drum space on its own (I had 23 diapers, mostly pockets) so I always had to bulk every load.
      Some tips for bulking: don't use anything bigger than the size of a receiving blanket, otherwise it could wrap around the diapers and prevent them from getting clean. Don't put anything with zippers in with your diapers! I learned that quickly after a few unfortunate snags! And many people will say you don't need to bulk your pre-wash cycle, but you should bulk both cycles to make sure everything is good and clean. Just make sure you peel everything off the sides of the washer between cycles.
      I always just washed my diapers with my baby's and my older kiddo's dirty laundry. I found that to be the most efficient method. I know of some people who get a little squeamish about washing regular clothes with their babies' diapers, so they buy bulk orders of cheap rags to use just for making sure their diaper loads are properly bulked.
      If you're having trouble figuring out the bulking process for your routine, Fluff Love University might have some guidelines on their website. They also have a Facebook group that you can search through. Another cloth diaper group I really enjoy is called Cloth Diaper Wash and Care.
      Cloth diapers seem so difficult to get the hang of when you're first starting out, but once you know the right routine for your machine and your baby, they're really easy I've found 🙂 best of luck on your cloth journey ❤️

    I am expecting baby number 3, a lil girl, and I am planning to use cloth diapers. I live in desert 🏜 so I don’t want to deal with rashes, and as my mom pointed out it was good enough for my grandparents to use, on both sides, plus it is cost effective and better for the environment. Hopefully all goes well. I have been watching a lot of videos.

    You should definitely give reusable wipes a go. They are such a game changer! They clean up way better than any disposable wipes I’ve ever used, plus they are so much better for baby’s skin because you only need water. You are doing such an amazing job though and I’m sure you’ll learn more tips and tricks along the way. 💗

    Because of the allergy then I think you could also be using just covers with inserts/cloth in. You don’t even need pocket diapers then. The advantage of covers is, that you can reuse them if only wet (just wipe out), if there is poop, that’s when you should replace. More cost effective and all in all less wasching needed.

    Some skin friendly natural liners can be hemp (which are hardcore for preventing leaks and usually good for overnight) bamboo and charcoal. I combine a thick hemp in the pocket and a thick overnight bamboo against her skin for overnight. Can keep her for over 13 hrs of sleep. Is too big for a newborn though.

      As soon as she could walk at 11 months I put her potty in the living room and kept a dolly or teddy that would pee etc. then we would clap and cheer for the doll.
      I'd take the potty with me in the bathroom and put my daughter on it.
