Australian Sprintcar Fan here. I have a question for the Americans in the audience who are also modified fans. Why is it that they call this division of the sport "Short Track?" I suppose that because I'm from the arse end of the World, and nowadays we only got two bloody tracks that are 1/3 mile tracks, so a half mile track looks like the Talladega Circuit to my eyes! No, really, why is it that they're called "short track?" Or is it just this race? I've seen racing on the Springfield Mile, but I was under the impression that that particular venue wasn't a "week-in-week-out" kind of venue. Are there still a good number of mile long dedicated dirt car racing tracks left? I know that the 1/2 mile venues are a "dime-a-dozen" as they say, but I think that I may be under the wrong impression when I say that the mile long dirt race track in the U.S.A is a thing of the past. Is this right or wrong? I'd appreciate any reply that genuine people are willing to post. I also thank you in advance. A cheers 🍻 from Australia!!
Short track super series is the name of the actual series. And they consider dirt racing short track racing because it’s 5/8 mile and under majority of the time where a lot of your nascar tracks are 1 mile plus. Atleast that’s my opinion as to what I’ve always gotten from it. Hope this helps you.
And yes for the most part 1 mile dirt tracks are a thing of the past. Half miles are pretty common on the east coast (pa/ny/nj) as to where the Midwest is mostly bull rings.
@theginganinja-_-7695 Thanks very much for those detailed replies. I suppose now I have one follow up question, but I'm afraid when you hear it, it's going to sound a little stupid, but here it is . . You mentioned NASCAR, so what I was wondering is, are these cars in some way a dirt version of the NASCAR Modified Division? That's it, but thanks for giving me as detailed an answer as possible. I really appreciate it. Cheer from Australia 🍺
@@frenzalrhomb6919 These cars, are a little bit cut from the OLD nascar days, with no front fenders, and the original body style for these cars were basically the same as every other modified in the world using the old gremlin bodies, pacers, those types of cars, before the "areo wars" at syracuse mile started and the bodies became more of their own style. Nascar does sanction this specific track, meaning they are technically under "nascar" but for all intentive purposes, they havent really been nascar in a long time.
Sheppard NEVER gives up and it always pays off, good run for Lanier!
WTG "Superman" Matt Shepard!!!!!!
Wow what a surprise ending. Sheppard wins and Friesen brakes his equipment.

Flo.s coverage was in and out very good race but hard to enjoy disappointment on flo.s end
