  • Next step in our Turbo Miata Project is new door cards! I've wanted to do this for a long time and finally been able to do it. Miata door cards are fairly easy to disassemble making them easily modifiable.

    I love the fact that when I watch the vídeo it looks so easy but when I'm doing it myself I totally screw it 😂 Also Hi from Portugal !

      Glad I make it look easy, I did one side first with trial and error, then filmed the other side. Portugal, crazy! Thanks for watching.

    Quick tip for anyone attempting this themselves.
    1. Use “under bonnet heat shield on the doors, it’s sticky on one side, reflective on the other and has a foam in between, keeps temperatures inside the car steady and adds quite a bit of sound deadening for road noise.
    2. Your best of replacing the card itself, it’s only 6mm mdf/fibreboard, a few $/£ from your local hardware store.
    3. Extra tip. If your going for a leather type card, get “marine grade” leatherette seat material, you can actually get it cheaper than what’s recommended for cars and has the added bonus of coming in a range of thickness and will be waterproof and last a lot longer.

      Edit. I personally use “evostick” adhesive carpet spray with stubby (short) staples. Been nodding cars for over 20 years, nothing is as hard as it first seams if you take your time. It might not be showroom perfect on your first few attempts but at least you can say “I did that” practice makes perfect, everyone starts somewhere.

    Great detailed video (you make it look really easy) and a superb finish on the door cards - definitely s major step up from the OEM ones. Are you dispensing with the door pockets?
    Yeah, looking forward to you boosting the engine!

      The plan is to not use the door pockets for now, but maybe down the road. Glad you liked the video!

    I know it's been a while, but I was curious how the staples have been holding up? I want to redo my door cards again, but I don't want to use as much glue as I used last time, and I was considering using staples on the backside instead.

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  3 роки тому +1

      No worries. Staples have been holding up well. One thing that I do wish is using a shorter style. They like through a bit too much which the depth I used.

      @@NappMotorsports glad to hear. And I'll have to make sure to remember that. I'll be using a set of the ABS door panels and 1/8" thick closed cell foam. Thank you!

    Questions: Did you replace the inner window rubbers on the door caps? i had to source mine from the UK (haven't done it yet), and on the door pulls, did you use a metal grommet for the pass through screw? Looks very nice! Btw- my speakers are made by Ansa and come out the back ;) mossmiata.com/ansa-muffler

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  3 роки тому

      Didn’t replace any rubber. Reused the oem screw and some washers we will see how it holds up with use. Thanks! Those speakers look great.

    • @NappMotorsports
      @NappMotorsports  3 роки тому +1

      Snagged the material on Amazon. Fine so far but it hasnt left the garage. Will see how it holds up after the first year. Thanks for watching.
