@@aris5921 I see - I have no doubt the Mig-31 has a better and more capable system than the first F-14, still it was not an unqualified "first interceptor capable of tracking and shoot multiple targets". First in Soviet service, first at tracking ten planes, first at doing so in shoot-down situations, OK. It is a great system. If you omit the qualifiers, the assertion starts sounding a bit propaganda-ish. "The FIAT G-91 was the best fighter [ever produced by the Italian aeronautical industry, up to that point]" - the phrase as a whole is opinable but possibly correct (the MC-205 begs to differ), if I omit the part in square brackets I am left with a bald-faced lie.
And tomcat is more maneuverable and has more weapons hardpoints,mig cant turn very well,f14 has exceptional turn Radius compared to the mig25 and the mig31
I am pretty sure that the F-14 could target six planes at a time, a few years before the Mig-31.
