The Commemoration of the signing of the Truce on July 11, 1921

On the centenary of the signing of the Truce on 11 July 1921, Cllr. Naoise Ó Cearúil, Cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council and Cllr. Pádraig McEvoy, Chair, Co. Kildare Decade of Commemorations Committee, have reflected on the event. To mark the centenary ten granite benches will be installed in the grounds of Áras Chill Dara, Naas, in the coming months. They have been created using granite recycled from the Old Barracks, Naas, and will provide a place for people to meet, sit and reflect.
