Signal on the far left: 3 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and an NEG LED gate light.
Signal on the near left: 1 pair of WCH 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, a WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After catching L696 in Franklin, I hopped back onto I-65 and made my way up into Nashville proper for my next train. After a bit of waiting here, I was able to get my second train of the day: CSX M501 with an ES44AH leading an SD70MAC for power.
This crossing is another great one, being located at a T-intersection and featuring what appears to have originally been a late-70s L&N install (assuming both bells here are original to the install). In the 2000s, presumably in the latter-half before street view first came through here in 2009, both of the gate mechanisms here were replaced by the current Safetran ones. Then, sometime between 2014 and 2016, CSX upgraded this crossing to LED, with all of the lights here being replaced with the current WCH 12x24s. Since then, thankfully, no further major changes appear to have occurred to this crossing. Both of the 1st Gen WCH mechanical bells here still sound fairly healthy, which is quite nice to see. Hopefully they remain here for many more years to come.
I will admit, while having an extra signal here ain't too surprising, I am kinda surprised the L&N decided to do a gateless off-side cantilever here, rather than a gated mast signal (or cantilever) for the side street. Or even just angling the gate mech of the closer signal to help discourage people waiting to turn left from trying to beat the train. Regardless, intersection crossings like this are always kinda neat, and I'm glad I've been able to record another one.
