We are gathered here today to celebrate the life and memories of another safetran type One. it will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
We pray to all sacrificed safetran type 1's that suffered removal.
@@bonzaplanespotting and GS Type 1s - they are becoming less and less common
The Type 2 Electronic Bells will also follow in the next 5 to 10 years.
11:08 What a beautiful day...... Why... do I sound..... so terrible?
11:20 What is happening to me? (Dies and wakes up) Whoa! Why do I sound terrible?
(The bell lives for another minute and twenty seconds
12:40 I don't feel so good.... (died)
Super cool seeing the death and replacement process of a Safetran Type 1! Awesome video!
@Random Video's my area had a death of the incandescent lights on the whole line (except in Missouri) and they were replaced by LEDs (GE uniform LEDs and RECO LED gate lights) and I watched the whole replacement with my own eyes (on one crossing, when I realized they were replaced I saw.). Had it's first run suddenly by a UP autorack (this is on a Northfolk Southern line) during the process. I was excited about it bc I love LEDs more than incandescent (I dislike the balled LEDs bc I'm more of a dotted and uniform lover)
Great timeline of the Safetran type 1! In my area in Union, SC, NS has replaced some of the mechanical bells.
The sound of its death😢
General Signals Type 3 Electronic Bell
There are many railroad crossing in where I live got replacement bells and stuff because of how old they were back then.
R.I.P bell 19??-2022
Great video! RIP Safetran Type 1 E-Bell. There's only two active ones left in my area as one died not to long ago. Pretty cool looking at the replacement process.
hi MobileRailSpotter, what was crossing that had the Safetran Type 1 but died
@@NorcalValleyRailfan Its not abandoned since SACRT owns it but the line it's on is out of service.
Unlike other electronic bells, this model sounded close to a mechanical bell!
11:20 Bell dies and comes back to life
12:42 R.I.P Safetran type 1 E-bell
You will be missed but never forgotten. You have a great time in heaven. I will miss you 😔
Now this is a good bell combo with both GS bells
10:42 I heard the Bell having difficulty ringing for one seconds
Imagine If They Replaced It With A WC Hayes Mechanical Bell
12:43 Sad to see another safetran e bell go. Rest in peace ✌️🕊️. We will miss you. Have a fantastic time in Haven.😢😞
Rest in peace safetran type 1 electronic bell.
Red Dodge Ram pick up truck at 24:27 just like the 1996 tornado movie Twister.
Safetran type 1 was my favorite. So sad that is is going away
Love the progression of the Safetran type 1 dying and getting replaced that same day! There use to be quite a number of Safetran type 1s here in SoCal but all of them are and the last functional one was replaced in 2019. There's still a non functional one sitting at s crossing on the LA Metro light rail Blue line. Great video!
I have the location a LOT of safetran type 1 bells on a map that I have listed in the description! I would recommend checking it out! Maybe you can find another one in SoCal that you did not know about!
@@Hopen111YT Also on the Blue Line, there was one at El Segundo Blvd pre 2008 that was fully replaced with a Safetran m-bell temporarily, then a NEG e-bell on the UP cantilever
Safetran Type 1 E bell: 12:42 I don’t feel so good. *dies*
I like how worker change old ebell to a new ebell 🎉
Great video r.i.p safetran type 1 e bell. From 2008 to 2022. However it's good to see that the new bell is a GS type 3 e bell. Instead of a NEG electronic bell.
Rip safetran type 1
We love you, Safetran Type 1, you were a great bell! We will miss you. He will be deeply missed.
Yes! It's sad to say goodbye to another Safetran Type 1. But we have to get over it. I got over it!
Great Timeline! We are going to miss you, Safetran Type 1.
The one and only Safetran type one bells are going extinct. We need to support them and because we have many deaths of that bell, we need to protect it
Great video! It's super cool to see the death of a Safetran Type 1. RIP Safetran Type 1! ❤
We had a nice funeral for it. Great buffet after.
I wonder if the new GS Type 3 came with a manual.
Did you ask the signal maintainer if you could have the E-bell? Usually from what I know of, those bells aren't reused and are quickly disappearing.
This is plain sad! These are like the only electronic bells that sound at least 95% like a mechanical bell!
Kinda cool seeing how e bells die. I thought they just stop completely with no signs of death.
I remember one of the lines in my town having almost full Lex C lights, even some on the triangular cantilever railroad crossings. All incandescents including the Lex C lights have been replaced with LEDs unfortunately.
Nice video!
Here in new zealand there is mainly Western Cullen Hayes E - bells but there are a few Mechanical bells still around and and a few Safetrain type 3 E - Bells
lol im watching ur vids and playing ur game at the same time (btw cool video)
New Zealand once had two Dutch E Bells which got removed recently sadly, but still interesting nonetheless!
For A Second I Was Watching This Video, Then I Noticed You Posted It Lol. Sucks To See It Die... RIP Old Chimer. (I'm Starting To Think That You Moved To The USA From Iceland.)
Noooooo poor bell :(
R.I.P safetran bell, you will be missed but never forgotten you were a awesome bell the railroad crossing ever had, you will be deeply missed by the crossing :C
Nothing is better than the mechanical bell. What blows my mind is if we can use recordings of mechanical bells in model railroading, why don't they do that on the prototypes?
At least it got replaced by the next best (typical) E-Bell
The New Electronic Bell Is A General Signals Type 3 Electronic Bell
@@FloridaRailfanKid803 Bro why do you literally type in all caps life is not a UA-cam thumbnail
Hey the map of all the known safetran type 1 e-bells, there was also one in Melbourne, Gaffney St Pascoe Vale in 2009 and got replaced then.
@@Hopen111YT and apparantly there was one at Merri Charles St/Clarke St
There is ONE crossing in RO with all Type 1 bells, all the others are Type 3’s
I posted a video with the Type 1 bell
(The crossing is on 4th Ave)
Do you realize that there’s one crossing in royal oak where there’s four of them?
I helped make a map of safetran type 1 bells that show A LOT of bells! I have it listed in the description of this video and I would highly recommend checking it out if you want to see one of these rare bells in real life!
@@Hopen111YT there are PLENTY of them on the Buffalo Southern Railroad between Buffalo - Gowanda NY

Can you keep the type one e bell
R.I.P Safetran Type 1 E Bell. May he rest in peace.
0:18... A CAR IS STUCK ON THE TRACKS!
New Bell: GS Type 3
R.I.P
12:42 rip bell😢 you be in heaven soon at least the type 2 is the friend
Oh! A (GS) General Signals Type-3 Electronic Bell.
I feel for the signal men who back in the day had to lug a 30 pound mechanical bell 🛎️ up that ladder, I own 3 of them. Take 2/3rds of the weight with an e bell.
I have heard that teardrop bells are 80 pounds! Can’t imagine carrying anything that heavy up a ladder, or even at all!
@@Hopen111YT I have a US&S Teardrop bell and I can confirm they are heavy; mine weighs 60 LBS
Rip
So that’s why they replace crossing bells because they start to act or stop working right?
Sometimes the FRA gives railroads money to replace everything on a given subdivision which they usually replace every signal on the line, however in this case I reported the issue to BNSF and they replaced only the bell.
We are here to mourn the loss of this Safetran Type 1.
Bell working fine, bell started to have problems, bell died, phone dial and ringing, bnsf answers and aware of the dead bell, comes and replaces it with a new e bell
During the phone call with BNSF, was there a hold? If so, how long was it?
Why does BNSF almost never use WCH electronic bells?? They make a faster, louder and more alarming noise than GS e-bells, which I believe is very important - in my opinion, those should be used at crossings where trains travel 60 mph or higher and GS bells should be reserved for crossings with trains that travel slower since the danger is lower.
Same thing happened in pampa, TX as the safetran type 1 electronic bell replaced by the general signals type 3
Noooooo poor bell! 😢

Pretty cool video did you try asking the guy to keep the safetran type 1 he could’ve gave it to you
Did you get to keep the bell?
What happened to the Safetran type 1 e-bell? Was it safe? Did you take it home? What happened to it?
did you get to keep it?
Poor Safetran Type 1!
I really hope you saved it
Rip safetran type 1.
KCMO Railfan It Was Upgraded To A General Signals Type 3 Electronic Bell
What a general signal type 3 railroad crossing bell I thought they was going to use a general signal type 2 railroad crossing bell
GS made the Type 1 modal from 1992 to 2004, then Type 2 from 2004 to 2016. Type 3 is the current modal and probably will be for several more years. When bell manufacturers like GS begin making a new modal, they stop making the previous modal. GS tends to change modals every 12 years.
RIP safetran type one
That’s now a general signals type three electronic Bell

12:42 I don't feel so good! (Died)
After the bell died the gates raised the crossing took a tiny shake
I heard a wch e bell that sounds like a general signals type 3
The same thing happens with NEG e bells. They die but if the crossing is owned by UP, they won't care about replacing them.
Honestly want to see mechanical bells come back. Or at least have an E-Bells that have JBL quality speakers and have a full hd recording of a mechanical bell playing.
Did you get the bell?
That Bell could have been there for many more years if it was given TLC!
MOVE CAR MOVE!
What type of bell is the new bell at 33:13?
Why does people keep crossing the railroad crossing when the gates are going down? Don't people even know that is illegal to do that while the gates are going down?
You didn't save it?
