Gosh, Andy, this is just beautiful. You’re pretty much making your own Anthony Bourdain videos, not just starring in them, but shooting and editing them. You have a lot of talent, I love watching your videos, they just keep getting better.
What a beautiful video Andy 😍. I could rewatch it over and over and over again (which I plan to do!). Iraq is an incredible country, full of life & rich history, and the hospitality & warmth of its people are its not-so-hidden gem. I hope more people get to experience it and all the emotions your video evokes ❤️🇮🇶
You just blew my mind. That was an incredible experience - just watching that and seeing inside the country that has been vilified here in America since, well, forever. And you gave us a glimpse inside and showed us the beauty. Thank you for that.
I have watched this video multiple times. I always get very emotional watching it. The way you make art is so unique! Thank you for sharing these amazing memories!
Literally living the dream brother. Not only seeing the world but documenting it for all of us to experience it through your perception. Thanks as always.
Andy To "The Director of Shadows" that's a fire title bro! The natural sounds from the towns and markets were satisfying! The shots of you pulling the phone out of your pocket are dope! Can we get a breakdown of how you did this?? 👀 As always bro, you never disappoint when you drop a film!
Andy, this video is amazing !! i have no words ! This trip was so intense, its like a time machine that reconnect me with the tastes, flavors and emotions i felt during this trip ! Thank you so much !! The video i am going to share a thousand time to describe my journey when i can't find the words anymore.
I found your channel from your quitting weed video, had to give your more recent videos a look and I couldn't stop watching this until it was done. Great job!
That’s such a beautiful video!!!!! I never watched videos with such interest and was hoping it will last a little bit more! So much to learn from you! You are very inspiring!!!!
Hey Andy, you're a true inspiration! The depth and impact of your work are simply astounding. You've managed to capture the essence of a war-torn country, not just depicting its struggles, but also illuminating the resilience and beauty of its people. This perspective is a refreshing contrast to the usual narratives we see in mainstream media. Your content doesn't just inform us; it connects us on a human level, reminding us of the universal need for support and empathy. And I absolutely love your signature introduction - 'Hi, I'm Andy To from Oakland, CA.' Bay Area, stand up! Keep up the incredible work, Andy!
Superb! I was in Iraq, nearly identical journey, from October 26 to November 3 with Doug Barnard Travel, also with Hussein the same wonderful guide, and Habib the driver. Your video is stunning, and brought back so many great memories. You captured the beauty of Iraq and the warmth and friendliness of the people. 💕
Having this image quality always in your pocket is really amazing One of your best videos. After 1 minute or 2 i already had noticed about what you say at 6:36 - connect or at least try to connect with locals. That gives a much higher level to documentary style videos. What we always see is for example: UA-camrs thinking that just filming the Eiffel tower from 2 or 3 of different angles, add sound mix and a personal color grading is equals to a great video .
you can tell from the jumping lens reflections that it's handheld with image stabilisation turned on. its actually impressive how good it is for a phone
Wow, it's truly an inspirational video Tony. I've been following your videos for a while, and I really love the way you capture and your sense of storytelling. Keep up the great work 🙏
Wow Andy, your documentary skills and imagination are off the charts, This engaging look at the fascinating subculture of Iraq are truly amazing and the fact that you did it with the All New iPhone 15 tells me that we are one step closer to not needing a professional camera at all. Telling a story is what really matter, the tool is secondary.
Love it. I was a combat soldier there from 2003-2004. While many sad things happen I like many have a great attachment to Iraq and it people. Good to see some peace returning.
