The lever that sits over the safety wire has to be in the up position in order to idle. Also there should be a adjustment screw on the throttle lever as well so you might want to check that first before you start digging into the govenor
Good point about the dieletric gearse not being a conductor but it will help keep corosion off the contact and will push it out of the way were it makes full contacted so I say use some inside as well. That is just my understanding and opinion. LIKE THE START UP SOUNDS GOOD! Again that is just my take on the dieletric grease
These Packard connectors are fully sealed when connected. Weather and air tight. Contact corrosion isn't a concern. But I have seen many times where dielectric grease causes a faulty connection over time. It should be used to seal connections, not to coat contacts.
@@tacticalrepair A little shot of spray silicone on the male and female pieces make the connection assembly easy. Never had a problem with its dielectric properties.
I was going to ask about the Eaton 5 speed but I figured the only reason that you stayed with the trans you have is because of the overdrive kit in it. I have been eyeing a 12 valve with an Eaton 5 speed for a while now but my next big spending spree is a new metal roof for my grocery store turned garage.
Garrett, glad to see it running and fellows think it looks good on the video you should see it in person really looks even better, been busy my self, gosh only 45 minutes from my place to his but to get the time, Garrett going to call big mike probably going to have to do a brake job on my M923A2 the ABS light came on hope its only the front, going to get some prices before I start the tear down, if I get in a pinch I will call for help, take care, Joe G.

nice, cant wait to see it moving under its own power again. :D What do you think about hub oil in the axles? gonna add some to my rear most axle tommrw if its not full, it was leaking from the yoke but im not gonna remove all tht stuff just to change out the top seals

No I don't. You can't do this swap without some fabrication of mounts and brackets for different things. I would help you out if I could, but I'm in Korea working.
did you mate the 6bt to the 3053a. if so did you go sae 2 with an adapter or sae 3... and can you give part numbers for the flywheel, clutch, pilot bearing, and starter as im picking up a 3053a to swap out my 47re in my 2nd gen ram.
A milestone, Garrett! I am happy for you! Stupid question but are you intending to run this as a multi fuel, given your mention of the contents of the tank? Or is that just since it was until recently a multi fuel, just using up what's left in the tank?
@@tacticalrepair to some extent the Cummins is a multi fuel. We have run them on everything from cooking oil to used motor oil and transmission fluid. Just not as forgiving on gas as a multi fuel is.
Question, i have a 1965 ford f100 cummings 6bt swap. Can i run this on cooking oil and used motor oil too? Do i need to install anything to make it "multi fuel". New to this sort of thing
@@hardcorehenry1812 you can run it on both without issue but NEVER mix the two. You don't need any modifications as long as you don't run more than 80% waste fuel to 20% diesel. In the winter you'll need to run a higher ratio of diesel or even add a couple gallons of gasoline to keep vegetable oil flowing.

That 5.9 Cummings can not and will not compete with the 475 ci white or continental engines for torque, stock. That being said, I do love the 5.9 Cummings platform. I own a m35a2. Sorry already saw it start... lol
One small start for a Cummins.
Onee giant leap for project snowball.
love it, pure simplicity and NO computers

The fact I already have the Waterloo equipped transmission coupled with my budget is why I kept it.
Congrats Garrett, looking fantastic.
Quick question, with the Cummins conversion did you notice any power drop while towing heavy? I have a m52a2 that I’m thinking about putting a 12v.
No, it actually tows heavy much better now.
Nice!
Really sounds sweet!

Probably just a wheel speed sensor.
I have little squeak the first two or three times when I take off cold, don't squeak after that, dumb question where is the speed sensor on the 5 ton.
@@meyoucajun1 follow the wires to the wheels. You might have a wheel bearing going bad causing the tone ring to get away from the sensor.

No but it is the exact same as bleeding brakes on an M35A2 and I do have a video on that. Look in the M35 brakes playlist.
Will you be putting a blanket on the turbo and wrapping the downpipe? If you do I recommend DEI brand.

80W90, not hub oil. Hub oil has no application on these trucks.
