It's funny Jason how even after 4 years, I'm still coming back to these vids to relearn and pick up things I never understood the first time around. As I've become more proficient, it makes more sense and it's easier to grasp your message(s). Thanks for keeping these older vids posted. BTW, I'm nearing completion of the "Bipolar Project" presentation at work that I told you about. Expect the initial patient feedback I'm collecting not long after the holidays. Peace, Steve
Jason - Excellent lesson. I am in the rut of playing blues scales on blues nimbers and major pentatonic on pop/country numbers. This will a big help in adding musicality by alternating (but not intermingling) phrases in my playing (and keeping away from the majors over minors but not vice versa). One of the best playing lessons I've ever gotten - THANKS - keep up the good work and continued success.
I particularly loved this lesson, Jason! I think that I'm gonna try taking this lesson to the woodshed and grinding it out until I'm not stuck in the bluenote rut.
Dude... it's incredible... One day people are gonna be blown away by my skills and they'll ask: dude where did you learn all of that???? One simple and wonderful answer: UA-cam and all the crazy harp players who gives you great tricks!!!
Hi Johnnie Congrats on you michalek harps! Chris , Adam Gussow and I all learned to play almost al what we play now on stock harmonicas. There is no doubt that custom harmonicas are certainly better and easier in many ways to play overblow related material however it is important not to give the instrument more credit then it deserves.
At a seminar I did in Amsterdam i asked the group to hand me one of their worst harps. i was able to overblow every note in the middle octave but on some couldn't get the 7 Overdraw. i'm not contradicting what your saying here becuase much of it is true only adding a disclaimer that learning on a stock harp or at least just setting the action tighter is actually GOOD for your playing.
Hi Great question...The good news is your doing great and thats totally normal! the bad news is what your wanting to do is just more practice...Identify some licks that you want to do real bad like that and go for those first so it's fun and you have the ambition to not give up even though you keep missing...you'll so so get it soon I can feel it. J
awesome. I see all of your lessons. You are a fair guy cause you give the most important "castle keys". I've noticed it watching a video about how to play fast. I'm also a drummer. Understand ? I'm talking about paradidles..... . Peace.
man, amazing lesson truly one of the most clarifing shit about my new skill in life, you know Im a bass player and Ive been messing with harmonica for a while, man fuckin good lesson, thanks
yeah but that note IS the flat 7 which is the note I'm trying to get people to avoid when playing major (pretty) so in this context for me or what I'm trying to teach here is not perfectly bitchin'... Other times I totally recommend the mixolydian. Thanks J
This is even better now than 8 years ago, Fantastic lesson Jason, Thanx Bro !!
Such a massive help - you seperate the notes into clear expressions. Brilliant teaching thanks.
That's a GREAT free lesson
THANK YOU FOR WATCHING J!
