The director/writer said that it was all about Obsession: falling in love with somebody you cannot have.Oliver then later plans the murders to take over Saltburn, but only because he couldn;t have what he really wanted.....
Ikr but at the same time so much anxiety and regret and sympathy and disgust and a lot of dark fun too. What a palette of emotions! What a piece of art!
The Oxford parts dealing with student life and how it’s like is spot on. I went to Oxford and was a scholarship visiting scholar. I got flashbacks to tutorials, paper writing and reading loads of books, parties, the highs and lows of student life. The pretentious types, but most of the freaking school is scholarship. And it’s so diverse. At least from what I experienced.
OMG your reaction was so funny 🤣. Si this are my thoughts about the movie. To me, it was all about Oliver's obsession with Felix. His plan from the beginning was to get close to Felix, to establish a connection. When Oliver enters Oxford he is an outsider, Despite being smart and diligent none of this earns him people attention; Felix is totally the opposite, of course, a significant part of his infatuation with Felix is due to Felix's privileged background. It's this upper-class upbringing that allows Felix to be carefree and charming, to effortlessly gain everyone's affection and love. Felix is only troubled by the fact that too many people love him, I supposed that's part of the "comfort" he found in Oliver like Venetia said. Felix's "compassion" is a trait Oliver exploits. This kindness, seemingly pure, also appears condescending, we could say it's "savour complex" observing a human tragedy up close, sighing with both sympathy and satisfaction knowing he can be the hero that saves them. Oliver knows what type of person Felix would be interested in, knows what role would gain Felix's attention and friendship. So, he holds onto this character tightly Felix and his mother feed from the lives of the "Unfortunates" until they lose interest (Pamela, Oliver even Farleigh). Unfortunately, the moment of rejection came earlier than expected. Felix wanted to help Oliver reconcile with his family, inadvertently exposing the carefully crafted lies. when Oliver fully understands there's no turning back in his relationship with Felix, that Felix won't forgive him, finds him disgusting, no longer considers him a friend-that's when he made the choice to end Felix. In his mind, he preferred Felix to be d34d than not being able to be with him. He killed the lover he couldn't keep and replaced him with Saltburn, shifting the focus of his obsession to the only thing he had left to worship: Felix. I think he genuinely regretted killing him, and his way of coping was to live, worship, and own the remaining pieces of Felix's life in Saltburn. To chase his Ghost and live with regret, it's his form of self-punishment
I think moreso than him loving or hating them, he just simply wants to be them. The ending does not seem like he regrets his choices. He gloriously dances around the mansion naked.
Those monologues against Oliver are creepy, scary, honest, and amazing. Farleigh’s monologue at the Midsummer Party. Venetia’s monologue in the bathroom. I adored the characters and the monologues a lot.
Barry Keoghan is going to be a superstar! I watched it for him too. I especially loved the dance scene at the end. I was VERY impressed with his.......dance moves..... Lol

I LOVE that you are thirsty for Barry Keoghan (me as well) like every other reaction ppl just focus on Jacob ughh.... i'd take Barry over Jacob ANY day
You had the funniest reaction😄 I also thought in the beginning that Oliver was so sweet and in the end was like 'I take it allll back'. (It was a dark comedy as well like you said, I mean Elspeth's lines were hilarious.)
As soon as I saw how quick Oliver dropped the Math guy to go to Felix’s group in the pub I knew Ollie was not going to be good. It was very good watching him though… & the final scene was excellent!
There's no such thing as old money English, per se. They're just nobility. Old money is more of an American term for the imitation aristocracy in that country.
lol I am really loving your reactions. You are naturally really funny. And I like how you don't over do it, and come off fake like some reaction channels.
I'd say your comparison to The Talented Mr. RIpley was spot-on. The charismatic golden boy (Felix, Dickie) living the privileged golden life, and the obsessed outsider (Oliver, Tom) who is invited into the charmed circle but then starts to wear out his welcome and reacts disastrously. I can relate to the first part of it (I've been welcomed into a golden boy's inner circle and then ejected after a while) -- but I've never moved on to violence! 😀 Also (since this means as much to me as it clearly does to you), at least one actor "shows us everything." (I would also add that though I enjoyed this, I do think "Ripley" is definitely the better movie -- better structure, more depth of characterization.)
you probably already know this by now but you asked if this was their real accents and it's not. Barry is Irish and Jacob is Australian. so they both had to put on a British accent for this film. :)
34:54 this reaction is so my reaction where I related to being the soft quiet kid adopted by fancy people, and then realize he’s psychopath and that is not me
You should watch Theorem by Pier Pasolini. It is a better film with the same story of a sexy guy who screws everyone in a family and releases their inner desires.
I liked it more than I thought I would based on the trailer which looked like a dozen films that have been made in the last decade. I like a little more dark and a little more comedy with my dark comedy but I think they went in light on that to make room for just a wild amount of penis. Like a wild amount.
I'm still a bit confused on how I feel about this, overall I enjoyed it so that's that !!

LMAOOO
"Why is this turning me on?" IM SO DEADDD!! And the reaction to the grave scene was literally me LOL
I almost felt that way but the grossest part to me was him basically licking the bath drain hahaha
The director/writer said that it was all about Obsession: falling in love with somebody you cannot have.Oliver then later plans the murders to take over Saltburn, but only because he couldn;t have what he really wanted.....
REAAALLL. WATCHED THIS FILM FOR BARRY and absolutely love how unhinged he gets in it 🤭🤭🤭💦
i honestly enjoyed how unpredictable this movie is. the bathtub scene tho lowkey had me gagged

This reaction was so funny I loved it haha, and this film was unhinged but so good! Haven’t stopped listening to murder on the dance floor since 😂

I LOVE that you are thirsty for Barry Keoghan (me as well) like every other reaction ppl just focus on Jacob ughh.... i'd take Barry over Jacob ANY day
exactly, I'm not thirsty over anyone, I'm thirsty over gym
ANY DAY YESSS ANY DAY (and all day 🤭)
You had the funniest reaction😄 I also thought in the beginning that Oliver was so sweet and in the end was like 'I take it allll back'. (It was a dark comedy as well like you said, I mean Elspeth's lines were hilarious.)
When I saw Oliver spying outside of Felix’s window, I immediately knew he couldn’t be trusted!!!!
Right!!!
As soon as I saw how quick Oliver dropped the Math guy to go to Felix’s group in the pub I knew Ollie was not going to be good. It was very good watching him though… & the final scene was excellent!
i think felix maybe had a bit of a savior complex? 14:25
very much so
Good reaction, I love that you picked up on the similarities in character to " The Talented Mr. Ripley" !
It's also similar to Bridesead Revisited ... especially in the beginning.
Can someone tell me - does Oliver penetrate Farleigh or the other way round? Enquiring minds need to know.
Felix's not straight, all that kissing Oliver stuff was not hetero, specially in 2006.
There's no such thing as old money English, per se. They're just nobility.
Old money is more of an American term for the imitation aristocracy in that country.
This was the hottest.movie ive seen this year. Still need to watch All of Us Strangers. Also, you are incredibly handsome.
Watching the horror on your face through this review was crazy! I had the same reaction when I watched it! 😂😂😂
lol I am really loving your reactions. You are naturally really funny. And I like how you don't over do it, and come off fake like some reaction channels.
I loved watching you lusting after Ollie. He’s cute but as cute as you are! Whoever you choose to be your boyfriend is going to be so lucky!!
You look Mediterranean but sound Scots? Cheers.
I'm middle eastern

Some scenes for shock value but really? Are they really shocking
You're not as invested because Oliver broke your heart into a million pieces. He did mine.
you probably already know this by now but you asked if this was their real accents and it's not. Barry is Irish and Jacob is Australian. so they both had to put on a British accent for this film. :)
hdhdhshs you’re hilarious 😭😭
Eu amo as reações dele hahahaha ❤
SO charmingly funny. Your reactions are so fun and SO similar to my reception to this movie.
You relate to Oliver, 😂😂😂
34:54 this reaction is so my reaction where I related to being the soft quiet kid adopted by fancy people, and then realize he’s psychopath and that is not me
Your reaction to the bathtub scene had me dead 💀🤣🤣

@@Madvisionn 🤣🤣🤣
you need to watch Premam Malayalam movie 🙂
2nd time I've watched your reaction, love it!
APPRECIATE YOU
Jacob is my man crush
I just realized that was the guy who plays Aemond Targaryen from HOTD in the beginning (his weird friend that called him a bootlicker)
I still don't believe this LMAO
18:07 The confidence came after he drank the bath water. lol
This was so disturbing to half-watch, indeed. No, thank you! That song is forever ruined in my mind.
Loved your reaction! Thank you for making me laugh!
8:21 cracked me up 🤣🤣🤣(I get it)
