same here. I have loved them since childhood, probably until death. I made some clips of them moving :) ua-cam.com/video/VHJUy2dbYy0/v-deo.htmlsi=ffARSVKDka1Ns29m
Budgie has given us some great heavy riff songs like "Napoleon Bona." Aside from "Make Me Happy" and "You Know I'll Always Love You," this is perhaps one of most beautiful arrangements acoustically ever done by these guys. Budgie ROCKS!.....Gently slip away.....
I have never really heard Budgie before, but after checking some of the songs on UA-cam out , I know I´m on to something big. I love what I´m hearing and this means a lot to me. Budgie is fantastic.
FMOB's .. takes me back !!. Some used to joke that the best thing ever to come out of Wales was the severn bridge, but I would protest !!. It was without doubt BUDGIE .. the great unsung HERO'S of the 70's rock scene, ans still good to this day .. Burke Shelly should have got a knight hood , but given he's Welsh I suppose he should be grateful he wasn't hanged by the Britts for being so amazing !!.
No singer could startle like Burke Shelley could. Slipaway spends a minute seemingly introducing a straightforward rock ballad, then suddenly we have a latin-jazz inflected verse, with Burke's high, elegant and supple voice light years removed from "rock"!
Thanx for the post. Tony B. was one of the best guitarists and under rated. Beautiful sound! I think we all like a romantic song once in a while. Great band! Hope to see the remasters and MP3 downloads soon. I like all the stuff prior to 1978 !
look my friend, all budgie discography, but only studio albumes: Discography - Studio albums: Budgie (1971) Squawk (1972) Never Turn Your Back on a Friend (1973) In For The Kill (1974) Bandolier (1975) If I Were Brittania I'd Waive the Rules (1976) Impeckable (1978) Power Supply (1980) Nightflight (1981) Deliver Us From Evil (1982) You're All Living in Cuckooland (2006)
Pity there's no live footage of this brilliant song. around. Even a lyp-sync would be totally accepable!. Anyone know if such vidz can be found ? ANYWHERE? Best thing that Wales EVER produced Bar None!
The best Budgie albums are the first and second one closely followed by the third album. 4 and 5 are good too. The heaviest album is the first one - switch the volume right up.
@mdelair420 Aren't they fantastic, and isn't this track beautiful? Shelley sounds like a jazz singer. He was that versatile, that good, and Budgie were a lot more than a "hard rock" band. Burke lives in my city of Cardiff UK and goes to a local rock pub. I've chatted with him a few times. He's a great guy, really friendly. I said where did "Hot As a Docker's Armpit" come from. He told me Steve Marriot (Faces, Humble Pie) used to often say it. Straight from the Budgie's mouth I got that!
ya know, it breaks my heart. Ya have an amazingly talented guitarist who can easily be in the top 50 guitarists of all time, yet, only a hand full of people have heard of him. This guy worked very hard n deserved to be recognized, but he isn't. Then we get people (like Justin Bieber) who never heard of good music, are by no means talented, don't care about the music or the fans (only money) and don't write their own songs. Poor Tony Bourge must be workin some shit job nowadays-it's not fair!
Bandolier is generally considered their best album but I think it’s still overrated. It would be second place for me. Impeccable is their best album. It’s funky, it’s heavy, it’s jazzy and Tony was at the peak of his playing powers. It is a tragedy that Tony left the band after that album. There’s so much good stuff on there I can’t even begin to talk about it. The main reason I like it is they stopped doing the 10 minute songs. This is the problem with bandolier. There’s only six songs on it.
RIP Burke Shelley.

My brother gave me this cassette tape when I was 14. I'm 41 and it I'm glad he did.

Your brother is a smart man A friend gave me a Budge album in 1977... I became a Big Time fan.
Saw them in concert in 1974, San Antonio Tx....been listening ever since. Burke Shelley was a genious.
Not was a genius, but is a genius.

Class live act, who were grossly underrated in the70s, good to see new younger fans getting into the band.
Anything Budgie does is brilliant. Heavy bands in the 70s wore their soul influences.
Agree 👍
Yes indeed@@randysalles2292
I have been a BUDGIE HEAD since 1971.
Does it get any better than this? So many people would love this. Very exclusive club indeed!

How can we not? Have you heard what passes for music today? The only way to find not just good, but really great music is to look back.
My life was incomplete but after this song 😏😏😏
Nie dowiary, że po tyłu latach, dalej jest to fenomenalna muzyka
A little Bossa-Nova from Budgie. This song is simply magical in so many levels both musically & vocally.
Budgie was hard rock and played the ballads! They also wrote most of their songs.
Budgie are the "Masters of DYNAMICS".
Beautiful melodic tunes, well remembered childhood memories with my daddy this song brings back :)

Fucking Awesome group that never got the recognition that it earned. To It's fans Budgie could stand up to Led Zep any time and hold their own. Superb
Agreed

This and the first are the best. 3rd is close as well. 2nd and 4th are slightly weaker but still great.

would've been nice if there were a second solo from Tony Bourge
