Congratsssssss !!! 🎉❤ As long as you get some experience at this place, that’s all that matters. Once you have some experience, you can always go elsewhere!

I graduated with my BSN last May and right now I’m working at a nursing home that I was a CNA at during school. It was not my plan but it’s only temporary. I applied to so many hospital jobs and got a few interviews. My biggest problem was not knowing how to do a nursing interview. I was so discouraged after every interview. I finally did days worth of research for nursing interviews. I wanted to be in the NICU but as time went on I couldn’t be picked because I needed a job. Someone I know at a hospital in my area gave my resume to the NICU director there. I did a bunch of research on the hospital and nailed the interview. Their cohorts started in March and August. Their March cohort was full but she said she wanted me in her team and put me at the top of the list. She said if any of the March new grads opt out or change their minds then I would get the job, and if none of them do then I’m at the top of the list for August. I got the offer letter last month and I start in August. For now I will be at the nursing home until August but it was so worth it to get the unit I wanted, and it’s a one of the top hospitals in the area. I can’t wait until I start bc I don’t really like the nursing home I’m at right now.

Does your area not value ADN RNs the same as a BSN RN??? I’ve never heard of an RN struggling to get a job so much! In my area you practically can stand on a street corner with a sign that says “I’m a nurse” and you’d get a job!!

Some hospitals do but others prefer nurses with their BSN 🥲 I wish it was like that in my area! Lol

I think it’s less BSN vs ADN and more that hospitals can have an experience requirement and still fill the position. Many want 1 year experience, so most new grads end up working in a SNF the first year to stay local.

Yes, it is less of a ADN vs BSN program. I graduated in December with my BSN and also was unable to get a RN job in the Sacramento area, and will be commuting about one and a half hours.
