my bf thought "eyes wide open" was a codeword to crank the brightness on Alex's TV, but I was like "why wouldn't he just always have the brighness cranked"
Good idea, he probably does already have it super high, but if you’ve ever cranked the exposure to like 500% colors all bleed together in a blurry mess, but black and white like dusk would be MUCH clearer.
He’s obviously not changing anything, but a foot pedal or something that could increase the exposure of your screen could be useful and I’m curious if it would be considered cheating, because you are just altering monitor settings and it’s still hard.
@@chasehorton2324 problem is the picture on CRTs bubbles out a bit when you turn up the gain super high, so doing that repeatedly can be quite dizzying
Now whenever i hit level 27 i say "Next box EYES WIDE OPEN" cuz those colors are terrible
What about like every level 6 I rarely say "Next box, Eyes wide open."

I think Alex T holds the non-crash score wr. Just adding the crash into the mix makes it harder since there is a time where it becomes practically unplayable limiting your possibilities for scoring.

Is this a rom version where the game doesn't crash? Because I remember when levels get this high lots of things can crash the game, you have to avoid them all.
Yes, this was played on a Tetris Gym cartridge which patches the crash points.

Gamescout call or not, still an impressive feat, but not the TETRIS WR. It's the Tetris Gym WR. Can't claim WR in DK or Ms. Pacman, etc. on modified boards, why is it ok in this situation@@EvidentlyFire

What you guys need to realize is that avoiding crash points is gonna be most likely a separate category since it’s gonna be so hard to avoid and is essentially just another kill screen. Where you want to call this the record or not it’s still the greatest game of Tetris ever played.

Illegal cartridge. If you take out the risk of the crash you may as well just play on a version that doesn't have glitched colors, 800 line level, and rebirth. PixelAndy currently has the true WR. This is still insane though, not trying to take away from Alex T's mastery.
It's pretty much the version all pro players use. The original cart was only brought up again because the crash became a thing to hunt.
Yes he was using Tetris Gym, a great training tool, with a helpful user interface. Again, Alex T is still insane and one of the best players out there. I just think Classic Tetris records should be achieved on Classic Carts.@@EvidentlyFire
Tetris gym is an excellent training tool. Alex T has the Tetris Gym WR. Imagine claiming you have the WR for like DK or Pacman using a modified board, does not fly.@@tolstoj_
I was taking liberties when I said "illegal", sort of an inside jokie in the legacy video game world(legacy being anything before 32 bit, so 16 bit and 8 bit). But I stand by my claim that this is the TETRIS GYM WR, which is not the same as the TETRIS WR. You need to account for the qwerks that come with these old games, not rewrite the code to make it easier. Otherwise why not modify the game to add extra points for t-spins, remove the colors, etc. @@EvidentlyFire

This game is going to be trash after the reach level 200....absolutely nothing left to explore on this game, no more hype.. They ruin it for the rest of the population.
I disagree. Once everything is accomplished, they likely will all move to tetris effect and dominate. Besides, competitive CT will always be entertaining. Seems weird to trash players who have blown the ceiling off a seemingly stalled classic game. Fractal, EricICX, Alex T, PixelAndy, Dog, BlueScuti, and Chris Tang FTW
@@latenighttalkshoww tec? modern players already dominate tec, I wouldn't doubt some of them becoming top 50 or even top 30 players but modern players in terms of speed and macro are insane, cz for one (best modern player ever)
