Is the off-road light switch a GM stock order item? And what would the P/N be? I have a 19 Silverado 2500HD Diesel High Country
Yes it is a factory GM part, not sure of the model or trim level of the trucks that they came in. The part number for trucks with blue backlight switches is #84168423 (part number is different depending on backlight color) this part number is for a 2018, could be different for the 2019 model.
@@pristineautoclean new part #gm 84448506 replaces previous
@@leonardovidals3662 thanks for this man!
I had to pause and zoom in on the back of the switch to see the number it shows 2345849262430108 unfortunately for me I couldn’t find a blue backlight one so I ended up with a red one.
@@TheIrishman79where did you end up finding one and how much.. how much for the wire harness and where from
Super clean! Super OEM+! Great job on the install!
Thanks! 👍
Ordering these parts! Damn this is cleannn, sweet how to bro, thanks
Thank you! Any questions feel free to reach out!
Nice clean install. You could use a piece of copper tubing to push through firewall insert wire pull wire and remove tubing.
Thank you! That’s a great idea, didn’t even think of that 👌
rite on man great vid!!!
Thank you!!
This is a great how -to. Now all I need is a Silverado truck.
Me too! Haha thank you!
Used you guide to install on my 2017. I had to grind down the back side of the grill and put the L brackets that connect to the light bar and mounting bracket in a vise to flatten it some. It was pushing against the grill too much and I couldn't clip it back on, it kept popping out.. haha.. thanks for the vid!
Glad it helped!!
I was looking to do the same to my 2017. Looked on RC website and that’s when I found out about AGS…which my truck has. I started to think about doing the same but was kind of iffy about it. Now i think i’m going to go through with it. Thanks for sharing!
Your welcome! Thanks for watching!!
How did that's go ?
I’ve had it on over a year now. Removed the bottom two shutters on each side. Trimmed the edges up. Everything works great! Very bright!
Nice clean job
Thanks 👍
Clean install bro.
Thank you! 👍
Nice job. Thanks 👍
Thank you!
First video I have seen for an install on a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. Thanks for this. What is the part number of the OEM off road light switch, and where did you purchase it?
If its a 2018 with blue backlit its 84168423. They offered a different part # for the red backlit. We got this one thru private sale
Nice job you did. I just got 2022 Silverado 1500. I would like to do the same thing on my truck. Is there anything out yet that would fit my truck.
Thank you!! You'll have to do some research to se if they have a package avialible for your truck! The 2022s have a totally different front end so I doubt this kit will work for your application.
Which white BCM plug did you tap into? My 2016 Silverado has two under there: one right next to the brown plug and the other on the far end, near the brake pedal. I'm trying to figure out which one it should be. The one right next to the brown plug already has a wire in the #12 hole, but the one on the end has the #12 slow open.
Unfortunately it’s been so long I don’t remember. Try to pause the video and see which plug we used
Your video has helped sm! Did you put the back bracket behind the active grills?
In front
Would this work if the battery supplying power to the light bar was an auxiliary battery, and not the same battery that supplies power to the button?
If its still linked to the alternator I wouldn't see a problem. I would make sure the relay has the proper trigger wire coming from the switch. 12 volts is 12 volts, no matter where it comes from, the trigger from the switch just allows the 12 volts to flow to the item being powered.
Great video and great job. However the RC light bars always fill with water on my trucks.
Thank you! I hope that’s not the case with this one 😅 I’m going to check it out next time the customers vehicles in the shop
I’d like to see a “how to” on washing and vacuuming a white 2021 Tucson
Haha 😂 I think my car needs a wash before yours
What wiring kit did you use from the Harness Doctor? You inspired me to do this to my truck.
I didn’t purchase it, customer supplied it. Most likely under auxiliary off-road light switch harness
I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 will this same switch and wire harness work for my truck ? If so please send me a link ty.
I believe it should, the harness is from harnessdr.com and the switch can be purchased from a 3rd party source (marketplace, eBay, forums, etc) search the comments on this video for the part number. There is two different switches depending on your trucks lighting color.
Do you know if the check engine light has ever came on for the grille shutters after doing this? I want to do this but don't want my light on.
As long as you don’t start the truck, or cycle the key while the shutters are unplugged you should be good. We made the mistake of doing that to see if our wiring worked, so it did come on in our case. We drove for a short period and shut the truck off and started it again and the light was off. Great question!
Thank you for the reply and very nice job. Ill go ahead and order my light bar. Looks straight forward.
Thank you! Good luck with the install!
I have a 2016 Chevy Silverado Z71 1500 . We're can I order all the parts that you used?
Rough country for the light bar kit, harness DR for the harness, and forums, eBay, marketplace for the switch.
Hey bro do you know what Guage wire it was used? I did mine but switch doesn't work. Probably not programmed
Honestly no idea, nothing is crazy high voltage, I’d say probably 12-14 gauge would be fine. Just check the amp draw and make sure
What's that tool called you used to shave the plastic down, I'm drawing a blank
Right angle die grinder
Hello do you know if that switch can be used with out connecting to BCM?
I’m gonna take an educated guess and say no.
What was the length on the M6 bolts used to mount that bar to the GM receiving holes?
Honestly not sure. 1.25”? Sorry it’s been so long and I grabbed bolts I had lying around
Thanks. Hope to have my same setup installed soon. Awesome step by step video!!!!!
Where can I purchase the mounting plates? I can't seem to find them. Thanks!
Everything in the video was included in the 14-18 silverado rough country hidden light bar kit. Customer supplied the parts so unfortunately don’t have the exact part numbers.
@@pristineautoclean ahh ok, I have the light bar just looking for the brackets to complete the installation. Just having a hard time finding the correct brackets.
Do you have the part number for the off-road switch?
Read the pinned comment! Questions already been asked 20x
Can you tell me where to look for one of the OEM light switches please?
I would check on eBay, fb marketplace, Craigslist, forums. Maybe the dealer, I’m not sure, they seem to be a “unicorn” item. The customer supplied us with the switch in the video which was purchased private parts. The part number for the light switch is posted in a reply on another comment.
Updated part # 84448506
What factory lighting option is this "unicorn" headlight switch for?
I did a quick search and couldn’t find anything definitive. I would assume it came in the higher trim levels or the “off road” models
@@pristineautoclean Interesting as I have never seen one with factory off road lights.
@@Guillotines_For_Globalists got my switch yesterday they are 235 plus tax wire harness was 87 with tax and the light brackets I made my self with a plasma cutter
@@eldenseib3871 I only saw one on eBay for that price searching by part number alone. In contrast the standard headlight switch is around $40.
@@eldenseib3871 That’s crazy expensive 😬
Do you have a part number for that switch?
Check the pinned comment reply in the comment section
Amazing Video!!!!. could you send me the link for the light bar you used.
Unfortunately can’t find the part number but it’s a 30” rough country hidden light bar if that helps
@@pristineautoclean is it the curved one?
Yes it is the curved one.
Can’t get that switch any longer. Every site a\says it’s discontinued .
Yeah I’ve heard that, keep looking you’ll eventually find one 💪🏼
What was the length of the light bar
You’ll have to check the rough country website. I believe this kit was for the 2016 Silverado 👍
I just did this to my 2015 Z71 and it didn’t work. 😒 The only thing I can think of is that the 2015 instrument cluster doesn’t complete the circuit. Maybe I need to now find a 2016-2018 cluster.
Yeah not entirely sure. I wouldn’t start swapping clusters for a light bar though. Maybe it was pinned wrong or something
@@pristineautoclean I doubt checked I got it pinned correctly.
The 14-15 doesn't have the wiring in the bcm for this to work.
i own a 2016 silverado and... im asking a serious question.... why the need of a light bar? i honestly never even had to use my high beam in the whole time i own the truck and im always on back road going to the rigs. i see this as less air to the transmission cooler and god know how shitty those 6l80/8l80 are.
We are located in a woodsy area so high beams are used probably just as much as low beams. The light this thing puts out is insane!! Its nice to have extra light as the press of a button, plus we did it for content!!
How many inches is the bar
30" curved
A lot of modification here, what I don't understand is why anyone wants a additional lights. First Off most Light Bars are for "Off Road" Only. Next is my 2019 LED Headlights, Turn Signals and Day Time Running lights and of course FOG Lights are bright enough to land Aircraft. So if you want the extra toy, Okay, but really need them?
We just did what the customer wanted!
Different strokes for different folks! Everybody is into different things! What you like I might not. 💯💯💯
Can you send me part list numbers and where can I buy it
Sorry I don’t have the part numbers
I have a question
Shoot! We will do our best to answer it!
