*Re-Upload* Decided to stop being lazy to beat timeframes and add b-roll to make this a little easier to follow! Thumbs up if you want me to continue this series!
Yea i say keep up this series I have been waiting for you to drop something like this ever since I saw your last one. Thanks for teaching me a lot because of some of the stuff i learned from your book and through your vids i have started to actually get a constant flow of music video clients.
Man I appreciate that you are out here giving free game for videographers. Where I’m from people are quicker to hate and not help just because your trying to work in the same field as them. If your not on their level they won’t even collaborate with you on any project. You along with Creative Ryan, They Call Me Cotton and few more people give me something to learn from and build on to assist me in my videography career. I really appreciate your great tips, tricks, and tutorials. Really excited to work on my next project to apply everything you advise.
I am new to creating music videos...like extremely new. My first shoot is tonight! Thank you for your tips. I don't have a great camera nor tools or finances to have that extremely nice video quality right now, but I am learning from you. I wish I could be your intern, even if only for a day. I would learn so much and jump light years in knowledge in this field. Thanks for taking the time to show me your work, and making these video tips. I have many mistakes to make, but so many I won't because of you. Thank you, again.
Love the comments about shallow DOF. I feel like most of us start out shooting all the way open and learn the hard way, seeing this a few years ago probably would have saved me from some gross shots
"Young Chris", I'm an up and coming videographer who loves your education-ed videos tricks and tips . I admire your work and your style of teaching. Your content is right on. Keep the videos coming, I need the guidance. Thanks YC
Fairly new to music video style cinematography, your videos are a huge help into guiding how to go about the shots that I need capture. Thank you brotha. Stay tuned. a lot music to come 🙏🏻
Your voice and vibe is so easy to listen to! Thank you so much for this video! I'm jumping in the deep end with music video shooting and this really helped! Thank you!
2.8 to 4.0 aperture is definitely the best setting to create depth, im using the fastest dual pixel autofocus outta my 80d even then it struggles at times to keep focus on a moving subject at 1.4
Thank you, thank you, and thank you sir! I've learned so much in this video, I take my craft serious and your videos will help make me a better videographer. I don't have money for school and to be honest if I keep getting lessons from you I won't need school to be successful. Just from watching these two videos of yours I learned some things that will make me a better editor and director. I was getting discouraged but you made it exciting again thank you!
I love what you said about lenses... I think the low apeture should serve as a stylistic shot in the video but should always be accompanied with a steady in focus shot... P.S the 50mm shot a 6.0 aperture is amazing Love your work keep it up.
Truly enjoy your lessons here. Thank you for all you're doing to inspire and bring the tech into it with such ease and simplification. Again, thank you Sir.
Your videos on tips have been so helpful I really appreciate all the time and ways your share your ideas and tips God bless you brother keep doing what your doing
I appreciate the time you took to throw in the details and examples man it makes a world of difference. I'm just starting out, and focus is my enemy for I'm obsessed with the use of this glide cam I bought. Maybe a handheld rig would be better, with an external monitor. Hmm. We will see!
To add to what he said about depth of field, it's important think about the distance between your subject and the background. In most of his examples everything is in focus; however, the background is far enough away to create depth regardless of that fact.
Dope! I feel what you are saying about the depth of field issue with wild ass rappers! lol them fools be bouncing off the walls and all over the place like Daffy Duck wile your trying to keep them in focus at 1.8!
My filming style is I call it "boatin'", I'm always swayin' like a boat. Gives dope sickness on the screen. Grab yo Dramamine and yo checkbook. $$$$$ time.
What's the best place to buy little video snippets to include in your music video? I have a lot of footage of me singing in random places, but need to add random butterflies flying and/or people heartbroken. Any advice?
Thank you for the tips man! Awesome breakdown cuz I'm getting a a7s2 and was thinking of getting the g master Sony 18-105mm. To keep depth and focus on subject and shot. And other lenses for video
I literally study your style as a foundation for my rookie season of music video making. My 2 questions I have are, what rig and display are you holding in your shots and my canon t6i only goes to 60 fps, how do I get smooth slow mo with that?
Theo Jones Hey if you want Smooth slow motion use the "optical flow " Option in Premiere Pro, which creats frames between the Frames captured by your Camera. Sometimes it messes up but most of the time it works great.
Another tip for the last on is use tape or another boundary for your artist to stay in so you can keep focus easier.. It’s where being a good director comes in at. Thank Me later.
Thank you bro ! This week is gonna be my first music vid. but how do you sync the song to the video with different anlges and one camera ? do you record the song several times in different angles?

BRO!!!!
REAL TALK I'M FINDING MY LOVE FOR VIDEOGRAPHY AGAIN,
JUST BY GOING BACK IN TIME AND WATCH YOUR OLDER VIDEO'S.
The focal length tip is a good one.
Yeah.. But it’s gonna change the look of the picture though
This is by far one of the best advice for music video production I ever have seen! And I watch tones of them :) Great job man!
Thanks for sharing even more ways for us to improve our music videos. :)

This is dope, could you do a full tutorial on lighting and lighting positioning as shown in 6:02 ?
Love the comments about shallow DOF. I feel like most of us start out shooting all the way open and learn the hard way, seeing this a few years ago probably would have saved me from some gross shots

my new fav youtuber! we appreciate everything you do brother!
I did not know that more focal length= more depth. Im so happy you said that.
Great content and delivery! Perfect!
Loved this, especially the bit about focal length! I have always been struggling with that.
Whatever you say brah...I'll listen...your voice demands all ears🤯
that last tip was the best piece of advice i could have received thank you!
I love what you said about lenses... I think the low apeture should serve as a stylistic shot in the video but should always be accompanied with a steady in focus shot... P.S the 50mm shot a 6.0 aperture is amazing Love your work keep it up.

Nice. I also like to film at a sped up tempo so when you slow it down to regular speed it looks slow mo but in the real tempo. So cool. Great videos.
You’re professional, thank you for being awesome!
Thank you for giving concrete examples. This enhances the understanding for new directors.
That 24-105 zoom trick has been working for me 😂😂👊🏿! Keep killing the edits king
Man, that "John" music video is crazy dynamic!
JimmyDShea For sure, that Video was one of my biggest inspirations back in the day!
I appreciate the time you took to throw in the details and examples man it makes a world of difference. I'm just starting out, and focus is my enemy for I'm obsessed with the use of this glide cam I bought. Maybe a handheld rig would be better, with an external monitor. Hmm. We will see!
