I mean with how popular shows like the amazing race at least were if not still are and people wanting to help where possible id imagine saying you are in a race isnt that unusual and would be understood by many people. Although from my understanding the amazing race show now uses prebooked tickets but Id bet somewhere in the shows history people were able to get onto mostly booked flights by saying they were in a race or on the show etc... and being kind to the people they were chatting with.
Man, that dice... When Michelle said "did they book these seats" and looked up then down, I was certain it's a montage to build up the moment when they meet in the plane. Would've been the best final possible. But anyway congrats for Sam/Michelle team, they played it extremely smart from start to finish. Really excited for the next one, looks like it's gonna be something similar to Tag.
Meh, I feel things just went smoothly for them, not necessarily some 4D-chess moves winning them the game. Getting both steals screwed over Ben & Adam big time. Thinking steal was too powerful and maybe should've been "destroy"

I honestly just think it's some of the least interesting parts when they're just... not able to take any actions. It kind of went overboard this time on how much time they spent screwed in this one. It's more interesting when they're dashing from place to place.
As a swiss person I can only say I'm so freaking excited for the next season! 🥳 During the europe seasons, I was hoping so much for them to enter Switzerland and although it never happend, I was still excited when Adam rode a SBB (swiss federal railways) train in the second europe season. 😁 And now there's gonna be a whole season in switzerland?! 🤯 Honestly couldn't believe it at first
We Swiss people seem to congregate under this comment to share our excitement. The only drawback of doing this in Switzerland is that there are so few surprise delays because of late trains. :-)
My one suggestion for future seasons like this one would be having stolen card immunities expire after a certain period of time (12 hours or it cycles past a second rest period). While it was good strategy, it felt off having Ben and Adam be able to do nothing about the neighboring state flight, as them getting a steal would have literally done nothing. It's part of the game, and Sam+Michelle definitely earned the win, but it would be nice to incentivize using stolen cards sooner.
I think the immunity running out could be a good idea, I don’t think it would’ve made a difference for this season though. Firstly, cause they didn’t need to be incentivised to use it, the flight they stole it for was just sold out and they weren’t able to. And secondly, Ben and Adam thought they’d already used the neighbouring state flight (for the flight that was sold out, lol) and that they had no cards worth stealing so I doubt it would’ve changed their plan in any way. I do wonder if it wouldve been possible for Ben and Adam to do the steal card (it seems to be luck if you’re in a location where they’re possible to complete). If they had gotten the steal they could’ve had a car a lot earlier and potentially made it impossible for Sam and Michelle to get to Atlanta in time for their flight. Have no idea if it was not possible to complete where they were or if they just didn’t think Sam and Michelle had a car card. Or maybe adding a copy card would be interesting (instead of immunity running out), definitely prefer immunity to when they were able to be immediately stolen back though.
@@Veralidiane Even if they didn’t know, the problem is that Sam and Michelle ended with a fully immune hand with steals still available, so the steals were completely useless to Ben+Adam yet completely worthless to Sam+Michelle. That’s why I think 12 hours of immunity is still better than no immunity but runs less of a risk of a situation like we saw. Maybe even add a super steal that doesn’t care about immunity available for the last day but is a much harder challenge than normal.
Haha, I agree the 12 hours of immunity could be a good idea, was not arguing that. I just hated when they could be immediately stolen back so anything is preferable to that for me. I still think the steal system worked fine for this game though and adjusting it wouldn’t have changed anything other than Michelle’s stress levels. They didn’t have a fully immune hand when the steal came up, they still had a car card that could’ve been stolen which would’ve made it very difficult for them to get to Atlanta and was exactly what Ben and Adam needed to get out of Connellsville. So either they didn’t realise Sam and Michelle had a car card, they couldn’t do the steal where they were or using it just for sabotage never occurred to them (they never mention the steal at all so who knows why they didn’t, sounds like a bad place to be trying to do challenges though). Either way, could’ve been very useful to Ben and Adam and it’s debatable about how worthless it would’ve been to Michelle and Sam (cause the car, and Michelle was clearly concerned about it at that point). I guess I’m also wondering… does it matter how useful something is if it doesn’t even occur to a team that it could be used that way? Because once they were in the car, we knew a steal would be useless but Ben and Adam didn’t and they never tried for it regardless.
@@Veralidiane It’s bad design if you can run into a situation where a team has an uninterruptible route right at the finish, when steals are part of the game. That’s where the problem comes in, sure they didn’t think of it but it would have felt much, much worse if they got the steal after the car was used and got told “Too bad, both of these were stolen so they’re immune”. It’s one of those things where having the sight of the viewer can point out a flaw in the system that should be fixed in order to avoid things feeling much worse in the future. It wouldn’t be a conversation if Sam and Michelle used all of their tickets before the steal came up, but the fact that a steal can be a waste of time for the team that can use it to make up time is a problem. It’s just like how instant steal-backs are bad design and a problem. I won’t mind if they keep fully immune stolen tickets but the opportunity to fix it before it becomes a problem isn’t something to ignore.
Hmm, I feel like we’re kinda discussing two different things entirely and that we actually agree on the main points, haha (your purely talking game design and I’m talking about this one specific game). I agree that it’s a design flaw and I’d definitely like to see how they improve it for future games that have steals included. For this one game, I’m happy with the way it ended up working. In terms of entertainment value, I honestly would’ve found it really entertaining if they had tried to steal something, were completely unable to and suddenly realised just how much trouble they were in (would’ve enjoyed it as much as when they couldn’t find Ben in the Photo Booth, lol, or when they pulled the curse to send Sam and Toby inland in NZ). I love it when plans get foiled by the teams actions/strategy whatever it may be (it was a flaw but both teams knew about it going in so it falls under strategy and mind games for me). Because there is so much luck involved in how successful they are (Eg delayed/sold out flights, are they in a city Elvis has been, or earlier seasons when trains were cancelled last minute, or what was supposed to be a massive lead from the ferry turned into nothing cause of delays), anytime a strategy pays off I enjoy it regardless of who succeeded or how much they played the system to do so. It just feels better when it’s because of choices they made and not things completely out of their control which happens so often.
Jet lag is honestly so underrated. The amount of effort that goes into these videos are amazing, and the fact that that only have half a million subscribers is a crime. Keep up the great work guys 💯

@@gracechen6010 I don't believe it's tag, the two tag seasons already included Switzerland (or at least parts of it) and I don't really see why they would make the game board smaller(?) Hide and Seek makes much more sense with that map of movements shown in one shot. I imagine there is no permanent tracker, but the one hiding has to leave clues or do challenges exposing him (if he wants to move), so the detectives can eventually track and catch him.

Michelle is so much fun on this season. With her athleticism, I'd love to see her in a version of tag or capture the flag where you actually run after another person as opposed to this version that was more focused on booking ane gameplay. I'd like to see all her talents at work!

There's a board game called Scotland Yard where players have to chase another player across London with a limited number of tickets for each method of transportation, so each method definitely gets used as the game goes on. Would love to see something like that on jetlag.
That was maybe the most suspenseful Jet Lag yet, it was anyone's game until the end, although I think Sam and Michelle always kind of had the edge, mostly down to Michelle's amazing spreadsheet. Thanks guys, that was a lot of fun, can't wait for Switzerland!
I've used "Hey, I'm doing this weird thing..." a handful of times on strangers and surprisingly it has always turned out fascinating them or at the least making them laugh. This season has made me convinced this is the norm, rather than random chance. Don't be scared to do somewthing crazy once in a while! Thank you for the entertainment and can't wait for the next season.
Steals are overpowered because for the price of completing one task you get a ticket of your choice AND you get to cancel the task the other team completed. Feel like either the steal should be random, not choice OR instead of stealing you destroy a ticket (that way it's one task for cancelling another task)
I think those of us who saw the trailer have been anticipating for so long what the context of Adam and Ben dancing on a train would be. And we finally got to the finale to find there's still no context! Yay!

Great season overall! I do think that, unfortunately, the Steal cards were a bit too strong. Either the cards should not have been immune to being stolen back, or the challenges themselves for the steal cards needed to be harder. Cant wait for next season
What an incredible season guys! I just want to share an idea for an upcoming season, or as an inspiration maybe. I'm from the Netherlands and here, our biggest youtubers 'StukTV' came up with 'Roadtrippers' 10 years ago, where you race to get the furthest possible from the starting point with only a small emergency budget at the beginning, so you depend on the hospitality of others. They did multiple iterations of this idea, but the first few seasons have the best concept in my opinion. I'm just so sorry for the other team spending Sams money haha
I live like 10 minutes from connellsville. It is absolutely hilarious that Ben and Adam got stuck there. If you ever end up in Connellsville again just so you know there is an enterprise car rental about 15 minutes away from connellsville. In a small town called uniontown lol.

It's weird, even though Adam and Ben have objectively won more seasons than Sam has, and the guest paired with Sam is obviously less experienced at the game, I still always find myself rooting for Adam and Ben. Even though they're not, in any sense, the underdogs, they both radiate such strong underdog energy 😂

Thought steals were a bit OP. Maybe it could function more as a "burn" card, or have an uno reverse type mechanic. Another idea could be to add more of a challenge to steals - maybe a time constraint to complete it or more tasks or increased difficulty.

@@Veralidiane Even if they didn’t know, the problem is that Sam and Michelle ended with a fully immune hand with steals still available, so the steals were completely useless to Ben+Adam yet completely worthless to Sam+Michelle. That’s why I think 12 hours of immunity is still better than no immunity but runs less of a risk of a situation like we saw. Maybe even add a super steal that doesn’t care about immunity available for the last day but is a much harder challenge than normal.
Haha, I agree the 12 hours of immunity could be a good idea, was not arguing that. I just hated when they could be immediately stolen back so anything is preferable to that for me.
I still think the steal system worked fine for this game though and adjusting it wouldn’t have changed anything other than Michelle’s stress levels.
They didn’t have a fully immune hand when the steal came up, they still had a car card that could’ve been stolen which would’ve made it very difficult for them to get to Atlanta and was exactly what Ben and Adam needed to get out of Connellsville. So either they didn’t realise Sam and Michelle had a car card, they couldn’t do the steal where they were or using it just for sabotage never occurred to them (they never mention the steal at all so who knows why they didn’t, sounds like a bad place to be trying to do challenges though). Either way, could’ve been very useful to Ben and Adam and it’s debatable about how worthless it would’ve been to Michelle and Sam (cause the car, and Michelle was clearly concerned about it at that point).
I guess I’m also wondering… does it matter how useful something is if it doesn’t even occur to a team that it could be used that way? Because once they were in the car, we knew a steal would be useless but Ben and Adam didn’t and they never tried for it regardless.
@@Veralidiane It’s bad design if you can run into a situation where a team has an uninterruptible route right at the finish, when steals are part of the game. That’s where the problem comes in, sure they didn’t think of it but it would have felt much, much worse if they got the steal after the car was used and got told “Too bad, both of these were stolen so they’re immune”. It’s one of those things where having the sight of the viewer can point out a flaw in the system that should be fixed in order to avoid things feeling much worse in the future. It wouldn’t be a conversation if Sam and Michelle used all of their tickets before the steal came up, but the fact that a steal can be a waste of time for the team that can use it to make up time is a problem.
It’s just like how instant steal-backs are bad design and a problem. I won’t mind if they keep fully immune stolen tickets but the opportunity to fix it before it becomes a problem isn’t something to ignore.
Hmm, I feel like we’re kinda discussing two different things entirely and that we actually agree on the main points, haha (your purely talking game design and I’m talking about this one specific game). I agree that it’s a design flaw and I’d definitely like to see how they improve it for future games that have steals included.
For this one game, I’m happy with the way it ended up working.
In terms of entertainment value, I honestly would’ve found it really entertaining if they had tried to steal something, were completely unable to and suddenly realised just how much trouble they were in (would’ve enjoyed it as much as when they couldn’t find Ben in the Photo Booth, lol, or when they pulled the curse to send Sam and Toby inland in NZ). I love it when plans get foiled by the teams actions/strategy whatever it may be (it was a flaw but both teams knew about it going in so it falls under strategy and mind games for me). Because there is so much luck involved in how successful they are (Eg delayed/sold out flights, are they in a city Elvis has been, or earlier seasons when trains were cancelled last minute, or what was supposed to be a massive lead from the ferry turned into nothing cause of delays), anytime a strategy pays off I enjoy it regardless of who succeeded or how much they played the system to do so. It just feels better when it’s because of choices they made and not things completely out of their control which happens so often.
Jet lag is honestly so underrated. The amount of effort that goes into these videos are amazing, and the fact that that only have half a million subscribers is a crime. Keep up the great work guys 💯

@@gracechen6010 I don't believe it's tag, the two tag seasons already included Switzerland (or at least parts of it) and I don't really see why they would make the game board smaller(?) Hide and Seek makes much more sense with that map of movements shown in one shot. I imagine there is no permanent tracker, but the one hiding has to leave clues or do challenges exposing him (if he wants to move), so the detectives can eventually track and catch him.
Why do Ben and Adam always have to memorize and sing the songs? This is like the third time they've had to do a challenge like this, I'd like to see Sam and his partner try and do it 😆

I want to see a race where you must use every mode of transportation. I want to see ben and Adam biking between cities.
There's a board game called Scotland Yard where players have to chase another player across London with a limited number of tickets for each method of transportation, so each method definitely gets used as the game goes on. Would love to see something like that on jetlag.
That was maybe the most suspenseful Jet Lag yet, it was anyone's game until the end, although I think Sam and Michelle always kind of had the edge, mostly down to Michelle's amazing spreadsheet. Thanks guys, that was a lot of fun, can't wait for Switzerland!
Sam and Michelle didn’t always have the edge because Ben and Adam literally wrote all the cards so they can remember them as well.
I've used "Hey, I'm doing this weird thing..." a handful of times on strangers and surprisingly it has always turned out fascinating them or at the least making them laugh. This season has made me convinced this is the norm, rather than random chance. Don't be scared to do somewthing crazy once in a while! Thank you for the entertainment and can't wait for the next season.

Agreed. Future American seasons should heavily incentivize using non-plane/car travel, as that just makes for a more unique and interesting game.

Steals are overpowered because for the price of completing one task you get a ticket of your choice AND you get to cancel the task the other team completed.
Feel like either the steal should be random, not choice OR instead of stealing you destroy a ticket (that way it's one task for cancelling another task)
I think those of us who saw the trailer have been anticipating for so long what the context of Adam and Ben dancing on a train would be. And we finally got to the finale to find there's still no context! Yay!
Michelle was such a delightful guest contestant for this season, and her dynamic with Sam was so entertaining! Great job as always guys :)

I do think that, unfortunately, the Steal cards were a bit too strong. Either the cards should not have been immune to being stolen back, or the challenges themselves for the steal cards needed to be harder.

I just want to share an idea for an upcoming season, or as an inspiration maybe. I'm from the Netherlands and here, our biggest youtubers 'StukTV' came up with 'Roadtrippers' 10 years ago, where you race to get the furthest possible from the starting point with only a small emergency budget at the beginning, so you depend on the hospitality of others. They did multiple iterations of this idea, but the first few seasons have the best concept in my opinion. I'm just so sorry for the other team spending Sams money haha

I live like 10 minutes from connellsville. It is absolutely hilarious that Ben and Adam got stuck there. If you ever end up in Connellsville again just so you know there is an enterprise car rental about 15 minutes away from connellsville. In a small town called uniontown lol.

It's weird, even though Adam and Ben have objectively won more seasons than Sam has, and the guest paired with Sam is obviously less experienced at the game, I still always find myself rooting for Adam and Ben. Even though they're not, in any sense, the underdogs, they both radiate such strong underdog energy 😂

I think the players not knowing what cards are in the flop would be way more fun so they can not prepare for a card coming up. I think this would make the game a whole lot more exciting and dynamic.

Thought steals were a bit OP. Maybe it could function more as a "burn" card, or have an uno reverse type mechanic. Another idea could be to add more of a challenge to steals - maybe a time constraint to complete it or more tasks or increased difficulty.
