Sheamus vs Big Show: one of the most underrated match-ups in WWE history. Their matches in 2012 were just amazing 🔥🔥🔥 And I miss so hard THAT babyface Sheamus - The Celtic Warrior at his prime ⭐ fans just loving him back then...
Let's not re-write history here. Sheamus was having good matches, but his character was absolutely terrible around this time, he was cutting awful scripted promos, constantly making lame unfunny jokes, and didn't really have any good heels to play off (Bryan was already at that point being cheered more than he was, despite playing a heel). The only thing he had going for him was the Brogue Kick. He wasn't a popular winner of the Rumble at all. There's a good reason why the fans booed him so hard when he beat Bryan at WrestleMania that year. You even have that infamous moment when the crowd are chanting hard for Ziggler, and Lawler says "listen to the crowd chanting 'let's go Sheamus!'"
Not counting the Royal Rumble final 4, here's how many times a wrestler main-evented a PPV in 2012: John Cena - 9 CM Punk - 3 (he was the year-long champion, in case you forgot) Big Show - 2 Brock Lesnar - 2 Kane - 2 Ryback - 2 Chris Jericho - 1 Dolph Ziggler - 1 HHH - 1 John Laurinaitis - 1 (yes, he main-evented a PPV) The Miz - 1 The Rock - 1
I was at Over the Limit and since I was 9 years old (lol) I didn't realize how insulting it was to have Daniel Bryan and CM Punk not main event that PPV
I'll never forget watching No Way Out and hearing the crowd chant for Ziggler, and Jerry on commentary saying "listen to the crowd! They're chanting 'let's go Sheamus!'"
@@tinotica Out of 11, he was injured in December. And, it is not only Cena, but also Rock, HHH and Brock who, of course, had a main event slot. Plus. Ryback was not supposed to headline Hell in the Cell, as he was a last-minute replacement for the injured John Cena. Ryback was on a roll in 2012, and being put in that spot really derailed all of his momentum. It was still too early for him to win the title, but losing would have damaged him as well. Thus, they came up with the crooked-ref, which wound up being even worse. Combine that with the unnecessary loss to Henry at WM and the heel turn/Cena burial afterwards, and it's no wonder that Ryback is so bitter towards the company.
"The career comedy midcarder who wore a snake puppet on his arm was challenging for one of the most important titles in the industry" Mick Foley: That'll put some butts in the seats 🤣
I saw Ryback vs Punk in Hell in a Cell as a kid and it was absolutely jaw dropping. Ryback seemed like an actual monster and it got me to watch Survivor Series on the edge of my seat waiting for the main event.
Extreme Rules 2012 was the best PPV in my opinion (the second is WM 28) - Cena vs Lesnar and cool rivarly between Punk and Jericho (Jericho had a funny slide on the alcohol he slopped on Punk on Raw on the start of April 2012).
Man I remember 2010-2014 one of the worst stretches in WWE history in terms of the roster size and quality, which is funny cause those where my golden years, so glad to be back 10 years later loving it again
I was six when I first started watching wrestling so it was the very end of 2011, I’m talking about post tlc, and I remember playing ALL STARS and loving John Cena( who I didn’t know the name of so it was purple man) and when Cena lost I legit cried because Rock cut a promo saying that all the Cena merch was going to be gone if he beat him. And that folks is the type of power John Cena has on young children
2012 would've been the worst year in this decade but thanks to WWE pulling the trigger on Bryan, The Rock vs John cena the return of Lesnar and Jericho, THE SHIELD, Team Hell no and taker vs HHH saved the year
That Jimmy Uso breathalyzer joke had me like “damn!!” Then he hit that Tyler Rex joke and I was like “DAMN!” Then they rounded it up with that Hulk Hogan joke and I was like “DAAAAMMMNN!!” This video had me over here sounding like Ron Simmons in every cameo he’s ever made on tv
I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and say that Cena absolutely should have beaten Lesnar. No one knew how long Brock would be around, and having him come in, beat the biggest star in the company and then walk out would be unacceptable, especially considering his history with the company
I was at EC 2012. We were sooooo into him that night. 12/13? Year old me loved it 😂 Also side point: Cena faces Brother of Destruction (Kane) before his Icon vs Icon with Rock. What did Rock do waiting for his Icon vs Icon? (Ironically 10 years before in Milwaukee Wisconsin as well) Face Undertaker. Coincidence? Weird mirror image for long term booking? I dunno 😂
The finish to the Big Show and Cody Rhodes table match was not lame. That was a creative and awesome finish. The look on Big Show’s face when he realizes what he just did always makes me laugh.
John Cena was awful around this time. (Not his fault, mind. Largely down to the booking) why the hell is John Cena vs Kane in an ambulance match main eventing a show with 2 world title elimination chamber matches? Any why is John Cena vs John Laurinitis main eventing a show with Daniel Bryan vs CM Punk for the WWE Title?! It really was infuriating.

There was a point where I actually wanted to see Santino win the title at elimination chamber. It might have forced them to not waste his talents, even if he still had his comedy thing going, he wouldve been a main eventer.
As soon as The Rock announced in June he was challenging for the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble 2013 all of CM Punks title matches became very predictable, they were never going to do Ryback vs The Rock.
I still wish Santino won the WHC at Elimination chamber. Part of me wanted it because I wanted to see the reaction to it online, but it was mostly because I got suckered into it like everyone else did. I wanted the impossible to happen
During WrestleMania of 2012 it was the first time I came back to watching the product after leaving in 08 having seen enough PG garbage. I have to say Lesnar coming back brought alot butts back to the seats in those arenas.
Usually agree with these videos almost entirely, but that Kane vs Orton match from WM28 is generally regarded as an underrated mid-card banger, and after viewing again recently I can see why. Two pros just put on an unpredictable little 10 minute bout that really elevated WM28 as a whole.
