AJ Styles vs John Cena was definitely the feud of the year. I stopped watching WWE from 2013 until the brand split in 2016. That was a really good brand split and SmackDown was amazing.
I was at the first smack down PPV, backlash. It was the first and only wwe live show I’ve even been to. I saw AJ in impact a few years earlier and also got to see Kurt angle and others. It was really cool to see AJ win the championship though at backlash
2016 will possibly be the most underrated year for a long time. Mostly because Smackdown was so amazing with good feuds, so many incredible matches and especially complete shows that made you excited for the next week. You could tell how Vince was pissed off that the "B show" was so much better. It's sad how this time won't get any praise, because delusional people always compare the worst of today to the best of the Attitude Era.
That’s 5 v 5 was amazing! Goldberg vs Lenser was also such a great moment too. Definitely the peak of Goldberg’s wwe run. The cruiserweight title and ic title matches were also both diamonds in the rough.
Brock Lesnar is pretty much the best I mean I believe that was his first the worst is Curtis Axel because even though he won Intercontinental Championship like his Hall Of Fame father Mr Perfect making them the only and first father/son to hold the same title

Darrion Gray raw was at least watchable because of Jericho and Owens SD and nxt were great and we had some great promos and brand exclusive PPvs helped too to get more storyline’s
I was at Battleground 2016 and what a show it was! I’m surprised you didn’t mention the DEAFENING pop Bayley got for her debut on the main roster as Sasha’s tag partner. It was a great night for sure
2016 was basically modern WWE's version of the Attitude Era going through Y2K. A really good year overall with excitement throughout and few duds that happened to include the WrestleMania of that year.

2016 was my first year as a wwe fan. I’ll never forget my first PPV battleground, seeing some guy called AJ styles beat John Cena, Kevin Owens friendship with Chris Jericho and Goldberg squashing Brock lesnar. In the years since I don’t feel WWE have ever topped when I first got involved.
Smack down was amazing in 2016; the Heath Slater free agent storyline was amazing, Miz/Ziggler and Ambrose/Styles was fun to, and James Ellsworth was great (if overexposed by the end of the year) when he was on. The first Raw of the brand split was class to, loved Banks/Flair and Balor becoming a No 1 contender, with the Owens/Jericho friendship being loads of fun
AwesomeToes I remember becoming a huge mark for James Ellsworth but hated him so much after about 6 weeks. I liked what he did with carmella tho. Raw started out brilliant under the brand split but got a little stale towards the end of the year.

I got back into wrestling in 2016 and the first show I watched was Battleground. That show will always be special to me and Zayn vs. Owens was incredible.
I got back into wrestling just after Battleground in 2016 so all the PPVs after that are really fun for me. But especially Survivor Series! I remember disliking Survivor Series when I was younger cause I just wasn't a fan of tag team wrestling. But the Men's 10-man Survivor Series match from 2016 might be the best ever, and Brock vs Goldberg was such a great surprise. Great show.
Wm32 was the only PPV I turned off early I was not a fan of the Roman experiment, however I always thought he’d be a better heel and when he came back in 2020 I knew it was gonna be gas

Smackdown was an all time high, we got Aj Styles coming through the door, Dean was MVP of the year arguably, reintroducing the Women's Title to kickoff the new hungry women's division, Miz IC Title run, Finn Bálor being pushed to the moon(unfortunately just for 1 day), the start of the Sami Zayn and KO rivalry on the main roster, Shane McMahon coming back, the WWE draft coming back and actually meaning something(that didn't last forever) , Goldberg coming back(sadly for two long), perhaps the best MITB Ladder match of all time, Cesaro being in high profile PPV match after high profile PPV match, Miz vs Dolph Ziggler rivalry, and Sheamus vs Cesaro best of 7 series. 2016 was a surprising but truly phenomenal year for wrestling and WWE. And it would take them a while to get that back.
Battleground had the best preshow match that I can think of. My first live ppv and the Usos had residual Roman heat. Breezango was just starting to take off and the crowd was super behind them. Amazing show

Honestly 2016 was one of my favourite years for WWE, especially for RAW and Smackdown.

I got back into wrestling in 2016 and the first show I watched was Battleground. That show will always be special to me and Zayn vs. Owens was incredible.
I was there for Battleground, and the live pop when Bayley was revealed as the mystery opponent was MASSIVE. Best show I've been to yet
