    @#antsurvivethenight I have the bobcat 1 in my tent collection.. I then persuaded a friend to buy one olso.. I took him to the peak district so he could get a first use out of his.. he loved it too.. this was because i saw your few video's you made of it... then when we were in the nags head in Edale , I though you were in there. I couldn't be sure , so I didn't approach you/ him... just letting you know that you do affect people's lives...

      Oh not sure that was me mate, not been there before I don't think. I haven't touched the Peak District really. I've been to a couple of places but I'll be smashing it this year o reckon both wild camp and also in the van!

    Good informative video Ant, but it`s not a tent for me ! Those hooped pegs are for pegging down the strap at the entrance off the fly to keep the strap at ground level ! It should have two hole in the strap, one for each peg 😃😃 All the best by the way !

    I have a similar tent the allpkit solo and whilst it's lite weight and has the benefit of being freestanding, the limited front entry space is always a pain having to crawl in and out. I much prefer the banche with its side opening but when weight and pack space are factors I still take the alpkit. Thanks for the review, always good value for money the vangos.

      Yeah I've seen first hand the Alpkit and I do like it, I'm just gutted my back wouldn't. Yeah I think I'm done with front entrance tents mate. Room and maneuverability is a must for me pal

    I'd say it'd put me off camping using that as a 1st tent. The banshee is way better, but both are low down. I'd never fit in that tent and definitely would annoy me feeling cramped inside. Great review! This will hopefully help people decide

    • @AntSurviveTheNight

      Yeah I really liked the look of it. I'd have had to have lost a load of weight just to feel comfortable getting through the door haha but I do still like the look of the tent, it's a shame.
      Big thanks mate and glad you enjoyed it and think people will possibly be helped in either a purchase or not. Thanks pal

    I recently sold my new Soul 1 after seeing a video of the soul 2 , it's a pity it's not a bit longer as it would make a great starter tent, it should come with a length guidance of around 5.6 ft max! It would be ok for a single night adventure without much gear but not for multiple nights! Tents should be made with a minimum inner length of 6 ft. Good review Ant, cheers Mark.

    • @AntSurviveTheNight
      @AntSurviveTheNight  10 місяців тому

      You hit the nail on the head Mark, it's just not long enough. I can cope with the small porch area but I need a comf nights sleep! At 5.9 I don't get that in the soul which I'm gutted about!

    I use a Vango Ark 300+ with Adventure Tarp for week long camps, it is ideal for one person or even 2? Very comfortable space albeit being compact. It has a good porch area. This also states about 7 minutes to put up, but takes me about 3 hours!!!! Also to take down and pack all the kit. I don't drive but get dropped off at a camping site. I have now bought the Vango Soul 100 for a weekend stay via bus, so kit needs to be light. Have not used it yet, and do feel apprehensive about it looking so claustrophobic, I am 5'2". I will again use the Adventure tarp that should extend on the front area and also protect the door if it does rain. I would only rarely use the Vango Soul I feel, but ok for weekend it being an event so not spending too much time in the tent. My long term idea was to get a small tent anyway to store items in when I am camping with the Ark, folding chair, stove, cushions etc otherwise at night the entire tent gets chocka blocked. Good storage tent if nothing else :-) .

    • @AntSurviveTheNight
      @AntSurviveTheNight  5 місяців тому

      That's a really good idea there Jaya, use it as a storage area. It's a great idea for use with the camper van as space can get a little tight in there. Good on you also for not being limited due to having no transport. There's a lit of people out there that wild camp via public transport so yeah, all power to you!
      Thank you for watching and for this comment

    Surprised it's so short, I'd have thought tent makers would be making 6ft tents at least in this day and age, needs a side door too rather than the tunnel. Impressed by your yoga moves getting in it though mate 🤣

    • @AntSurviveTheNight
      @AntSurviveTheNight  Рік тому +2

      Yeah way to short pal just that bit longer and it would have been a different story. Tbh I wanted it for that front door as I've got the Banshee with the side door. This looked great in the shop you see. Haha! Yeah I do yoga stretching a few tines a day for my back, need to lose the weight now and I'll be good for the coming year. Unfortunately there's a few more days of eating left yet 😆

    I think you may have forgotten to use the ties attached to the inside top of the outer sheet which tie around the hoops in the inner tent. When you tie these, it helps to raise the level of the inner tent so that it isn’t so low inside. Thanks

      At 6ft I'd definitely stay clear of this tent. Depending on your country and if OEX ships to it or not, I'd recommend the Bobcat 1 it's a fab tent. There's also a ultra lightweight version of it on sale now too.
      Good luck on your adventure!

My Banshee still going 20 years on. Don't look now but folk behind yer. Being a short arse has it's merits, but Being a wide gives me other issues like finding jackets to fit across the back and shoulders and under the arms, they're either tight or drown me.

    To be fair on the tent it didnt look like you pulled the inner out properly end to end hence the sagging .and it looked like you didnt tie the fly to the poles so when guyed out it allowed to inner to collapse inward end to end .so effectively shortening the inner tent .
    Ive had one of these soul 100 tents in a previous incarnation and it was fine for my 5.10 frame .

    • @AntSurviveTheNight
      @AntSurviveTheNight  Рік тому

      I've had it on good authority the tent is small Rufus, Leon was using the same tent also and said the same. It was pulled out sufficiently and pegged. Even if the pole sagged towards me, it wouldnt have made a difference as the bottom of the tent was pulled out tight as you can see in the video. It would not have stretched out any more than it did.

    • @rufusduck71
      @rufusduck71 Рік тому

      Fair enough good to know ..the one I had didn't have the same poles as yours .yours seemed to have corner sections in the main pole my older one was just a straight pole that looped over (and probably why it eventually snapped )
