    I personally think hydrogen fuel cell cars are awesome. Life would be very simple if we didn’t insist on making it complicated. So in other words, things would be cheap if we wanted them to be. Things would be of great quality if we wanted them to be. It’s just us being stubborn on making things hard for everyone around us, by putting limits on everything where its not necessary, and no limits where it’s necessary. I think a little more than a hundred years ago, All countries were very simple, and a hundred years later, we evolved into having very advanced vehicles and technology. I think everyone is just complaining and taking things for granted. I had a brick phone when I was growing up, when I got to USA I got an iPhone 4, which was unheard of.
    I never had a car, now I got one. I never had my own PC, now I got one and built it myself. I got a job that I have been working for 12 years and a steady income. Able to help my parents financially and physically. Don’t force Fuel Cell cars down the drain just yet. It’s a great alternative to cars we have today. They just need a redesign. Electrification is a stupid move, and a extremely expensive one. As I was talking to people at my job, we agreed that hybrid cars are the most awesome at this time. If they could increase the capacity of batteries in hybrid cars, I am sure we wouldn’t need pure electric cars. If you could get a 150 miles on battery electric charge in a hybrid, and the battery would continue to be charged by ICE, that would be the greatest advancement on cars. We should welcome all options of transportation to be honest and not stick with just only one solution of pure EVs, because it’s a stupid mistake.

    You know, much like what happened with traditional cars vack when they were first being adopted and fuel prices sucked for them cause it wasnt mainstream and eventually cane down to sanity, the more facilities we eventually have to support hydrogen in the future the cheaper hydrogen will get... once these places know its safe to invest in infrastructure, it will improve gauranteed. Still much cleaner than battery cars

    Creating hydrogen from electrolysis isn't the only way to create it. Microalgae like cyanobacteria and green algae can produce biohydrogen after derivation of their photosynthetic metabolism. Besides, microalgae can also be used as feedstock for biohydrogen production by microbial dark fermentation. Biohydrogen from microalgae is renewable.

  • @zanthraxnl
    @zanthraxnl 8 місяців тому +4

    Hydrogen is made from fossil fuels and gives you around the same mileage, price and pollution as a gas-powered car.
    Or it's made using electrolysis of water using electricity like David described. Hydrogen produced this way is 2 to 3 times as expensive.
    Hydrogen is a dead-end for at least another 15 years until it can catch up to battery tech. And battery tech is currently improving at a faster rate than hydrogen tech. So that catching up is about hydrogen becoming feasible at large scale, not even about matching or outdoing batteries.

    • @mikeydude750
      @mikeydude750 8 місяців тому +3

      The only way hydrogen works is if we have absurdly abundant electricity that's generated cleanly. Maybe if we had massive nuclear plants all over the place, or if nuclear fusion ever becomes viable. Battery chemistry sucks and is approaching its limits - I suspect people are going to be disappointed by all of the supposed innovations "around the corner" that aren't going to be viable. The only real problem with hydrogen fuel cells is the hydrogen supply itself - if that were sorted out it would be the best of both worlds.

      Very true.
      Battery tech gets replaced every 10 years. Looking at history, the current lithium based battery tech approaching it's limit means their replacement will soon become widely available. Looking at the history of hydrogen tech is will stay roughly where it was 20 years ago.

      @@zanthraxnl Hydrogen fuel cells are a fairly mature technology, even storage isn't really an issue based on the Mirai and the Clarity's experiences, it's just the hydrogen supply and distribution that needs to be worked on. I could see a future where we have tons of excess cheap carbon-free energy that's used for electrolysis to generate hydrogen for fuel cell vehicles. Probably not every vehicle - but fuel cells definitely have a place for where battery vehicles might not be desirable.

      @@TypicalTonk It's a stunt. Hydrogen combustion will never be commercially viable because of the cost of the fuel and the inefficiency of combustion engines exacerbating the fact that hydrogen has every low volumetric energy density.
      The Mirai is very efficient, yet its fuel tanks take up enormous amounts of space which causes the rear seat and trunk space to be severely compromised.
      A hydrogen combustion engine car would need FAR MORE hydrogen to achieve the same range, which means it wouldn't have the space for rear seats or a trunk at all. It would also cost a lot of money to run.

    Horribly inefficient technology. Great job on the video. How has this been kept quiet so long. That's why it costs $0.50 / mile just for the fuel. It doesn't drive at all like a Tesla. A Tesla is twice as quick. A full tank of hydrogen, 5 kg * $35 / kg = $185 + tax and you can drive maybe 250 miles. Charging a model Y Tesla at home you can drive 6,000 miles for the same $185. Figure out how to pull out the hydrogen tanks and put batteries in that car and it would be a slow battery powered car.

    Ion filter is for the ion cannon...
    H for cars is mainly produced by electrolysis (electric current in H2O to split the molecule and capture the H). Other method is spliting a hydrocarbon (petrol) molecule with same results. The later is much more common because it's cheaper but it's not green at all. In fact, the only green H is when it's made from hydrolysis with electricity produced with renewable E.
    BTW, toyota loose money on that. So the selling price is lower than the cost price.
