Thanks, a very helpful video as I just received my first Levy strap delivered today. I did exactly what most do I jumped right to the end loop although I did do one time through. This was concise and direct and helped to get it exactly right. These are excellent for my Jazz box.

My Levy stap was a pain to get on my Jackson's saucers but it feels great wearing it. It really distributed the weight out.

Dan here. As a guitarist, I also needed to watch this. Even if some wouldn't admit it, there are others here who needed it explained, as well. Thanks for watching!

wow, thanks. this video was perfect. .. a lifesaver. I would have never figured this all out by myself. Very much appreciated. And great intro video to make me check the strap each time I pick it up from now on👍

Best strap ever! I bought one for my Epi Firebird thats headstock heavy. The suede on clothes keeps it from diving! A must for any headstock heavy guitar. Oh...and the smell. I love the smell of real leather. Just amazing!

First of all, these are great straps. I've used them for a long time and they are stout. The attachment is way too complex and my straps (3 of them over time) never came with instructions; and yes, I did it wrong for a long time. I blame myself for never inventing something smarter. Anyway, thanks for the video. It IS needed.

Great thanks I had not a clue how to put mine together the right way as it came with no picture or instructions and i wondered what the shoelace was for lol, Now I have put my old one on my old acoustic guitar and my new ladder type one on my electric and it is done the right way thanks to you.

I just got a ladder style strap from Fender and wasn't sure what to do with it. Nice looking strap! Made from the same leather that baseball gloves are made from. The back is kind of a rough suede so if your guitar is a bit off balance, it won't slide when you don't want it to. (Even smells like a new baseball glove!). Thanks for the video. Oh, nice Telecaster whoever built it.

This is helpful, and I'm also curious: is there a common way to properly size a strap before attaching? Like hold it up and it should reach your waistline or some other basic metric to make sure I'm getting the proper sizing and placement once attached? Thanks!

It really depends how high or low you like your guitar. Everybody is different. Wish I had better news for you, but I hang my guitar a little higher than average.

Attach the strap so there's a slight amount of slack while you're sitting and then when you stand up, it will remain in the same place.

Just don't buy Levy's strap locks. Canadian made... so I was real excited to put them on my guitar but they stick out on any guitar like a sore thumb and they just felt so flimsy. Couldn't even be bothered to put some felt on the end of the buttons to protect your guitars finish. Felt safer using my old buttons. Really wanted to plug a Canadian company but these locks are a joke.

What about when you use the second/third/fourth strap button hole on the thin end of the strap? What do you do with the rest of the strap that now just hanging off the bottom of the guitar? Just let it hang off??
If I have strap locks, couldn't I hook the first hole on the button like normal, then attach the strap lock as long as there's room?

Lol, no amount of money spent on a strap is going to prevent it from slipping off the strap buttons, especially if you're flipping the guitar... It's not a better strap you need, it's strap locks.

How do you find the right length before you pull strap through the slots ? Like you need to have 1 step before you place the strap before chosen slot .. You did not mention the way to choose the proper slot .. I always used the straps with buckles , so I never had this issue ...

  • @michaeljuliano8839
    @michaeljuliano8839 3 роки тому +1

Why does the thin side of the strap go to the unsupported thick side of the guitar and the thick part of the strap to the thin side of the guitar which you also support with your hand? That seems backwards to me.

OK but I just got a Levy's strap for my acoustic that does NOT have a lace -- instead, it has a loop already attached to the strap. The model is Levy's 2" Wide MC8A-BLK Cotton Guitar Strap. I assume the loop must go under the strings, but how can I attach it without having to take the strings off my guitar??

I have been trying to find ANY video about the 1990's fad about having a long guitar strap so long that the player had to bend over just to play his guitar. Often their guitars were at their knees. I found nothing. What do you think of this fad?

    • @AveryGuitar

I don't thing theres a whole lot to that. People at the time just thought it looked cool. Same reason why they wore baggy clothes and had their hats backwards all the time. It was just the 90s being the 90s.
