@@JKgyaru6969 Yes, that is what I was referring to. I said I wish it could *still* stop lightsabers (old EU). I'm well aware the new canon greatly nerfed the Mandos as a whole. I don't like the change myself, as now Beskar really isn't very special or unique anymore aside from cultural significance. Other in-universe armor would protect you from a glancing blow, so long as said armor caught the Saber instead of one's skin. Given how the blast doors in Ep1 reacted it looks like durasteel would provide a similar protection.

Though they've used Mando'a (also written by the same author) in Rebels, they may be avoiding using Skirata so they don't get into a creative conflict (again) with her.
The Mandalorians weren't the primary focus of The Clone Wars, and apart from Karen Traviss' writings, the series didn't take anything away from their history. The first six seasons of The Clone Wars can be considered part of the Expanded Universe because they were all written prior to Disney declaring it Legends in 2014.

I am a little disappointed that the Dark Saber has replaced Mandalore's Mask as the symbol of leadership though, but perhaps there is still room for both considering the Dark Saber has only been around a fraction as long as Mandalorians have.

I see Mandolorians like Ronin. They were samurai once at the height of their society but now they roam the galaxy looking for work. But they still put their culture forward and let themselves be known.
According to Fenn Rau, Tarre Vizsla created the Darksaber as a part of his Jedi training. The Jedi kept it in their archives after his passing until another member of House Vizsla raided the Jedi Temple and retrieved it and used the power of the blade and its symbolism to unite and rule Mandalore. Later, we learn from Sabinne that according to her own father, Tarre Vizsla was at one point a ruler of Mandalore. What's uncertain is if "Tarre Vizsla" of Fenn's story, and the one that the statue depicted were the same person, or if "Tarre Vizla" eventually became a title used among House Vizsla to refer to its ruling member should they become the ruling house.
The Mandalorians are literally Samurai, which is why the show was shot like a Space-ghetti Western... and If you don't know what I meant by that allow me to introduce you to Akira Kurosawa....
The way I see it, the Jedi are based on the Shaolin, The Mandalorians are based on the Samurai and the Empire was based on the Mongolians... and yes I understand that George Lucas himself has stated that he drew inspiration for the Jedi from the Samurai but the architecture of the construct that is the Star Wars Universe draws comparison to the Shaolin monks and the creation of martial arts and the belief in an otherworldly power called "Chi" and the pirate raids and small skirmishes they had against Japanese (Jedi Vs. Mandalorian) and then steps in Mongolia that f*cks everyone but Japan up (they were taken out by Typhoons... TWICE)... but in the end China and Buddhism (Formally called Shaolin) were able to push the Mongols out... The Jedi were Shaolin, The Mandalorians were Samurai and The Empire were the Mongols... also there's some similarities between the Mandalorians and Spartans but there's way more of a correlation between the Samurai and Mandalorians....
I love the mandalorians. The way live reminds me of the predators with their codes of honor and their reputations of being hunters While really I doubt it'll happen I'm hoping the mandalorian will see boba Fett coming out of the sarlakk pit.

The Mandalorians are probably my favorite warrior culture in sci-fi, rivaled to the Furyans from the Riddick series and the Yautja (Predators) from the Predator franchise. Wear the armor, speak the language, protect your family and clan, raise your children to be Mandalorian, and answer the Mand’alor whenever he or she calls. This is the way.
Before watching this video, I used to believe the characters wearing Boba Fett’s armor to be nothing more then ruthless mercenaries, mostly because of the Deathwatch group from the Clone Wars cartoon series. But now that I know the Mandalorians are actually a massive clan of badass, honour-bound warriors, I think they might just’ve become my new favorite Star Wars characters.
