And to think they almost hung it up in 1936. The loss of John Jr no doubt was extraordinarily painful, and it couldn't have felt right to continue. Their mom had it right, though.
the mills brothers are the original boy band they go back to 1927-1928 with their hit tiger rag then came the ink spots when the mills were in europe doing a tour plus they were the first african american group to have their own radio show. i love them because of their brotherly love for singing n each other n their pops joined in the late 30s do to their eldest brother who past, im a huge mills brothers fan.
such a beautiful voices in such a beautiful family and if you look real close you can see their truly related by family had the greatest voices of thank you Mills Brothers God bless you and may you rest in peace and be with God
I am 35 years old now. I discovered the Mills Brothers on my own a couple years ago, and listen to them every day. I hope I make it to 83, and I hope to take them with me. This truly is music you can never grow tired of.
how did it go from this beautiful rendition of this beautiful song to the crass and pornographic "i like big butts" or "who let the dogs out?" culturally, largely due to rap, we've been going to the gutter the last 30 years.
Very good song, I can't help to notice how classy waas the people in the bygone Era, thanks for mentioning the name of the movie & for the video Honly Gonly.
I seem to understand the bass was done by one of the singers because of a musicians strike at the time and they decided to keep it because of good reports from the fans!
I may be totally wrong, but given when this was videod, my guess is that the man on the far right is the father of the others with the exception of the guitar player.
The song is both sad and pathetic. I'm gonna buy a paper doll that I can call my own A doll that other fellows cannot steal And then the flirty, flirty guys with their flirty, flirty eyes Will have to flirt with dollies that are real When I come home at night she will be waiting She'll be the truest doll in all this world I'd rather have a paper doll to call my own Than have a fickle-minded real live girl I guess I had a million dolls or more I guess I've played the doll game o'er and o'er I just quarreled with Sue, that's why I'm blue She's gone away and left me just like all dolls do I'll tell you boys, it's tough to be alone And it's tough to love a doll that's not your own I'm through with all of them, I'll never fall again Say boy, whatcha gonna do? I'm gonna buy a paper doll that I can call my own A doll that other fellows cannot steal And then the flirty, flirty guys with their flirty, flirty eyes Will have to flirt with dollies that are real When I come home at night she will be waiting She'll be the truest doll in all this world I'd rather have a paper doll to call my own Than have a fickle-minded real live girl

Ironically, they became really big during the 🌎🌍 War 2 era-- thanks in part to this song.
The classic’s never go out of style!

The Mills Brothers. What a fantastically great singing family they were! We are so blessed to have so many recordings of them! 🙏
Reminds me so much of my dad who passed at 93. We would listen to the Mills Brothers and this was one of our favorites. ❤

I remember my grandpa asking me to play their album in 1957.I still have it
They have so much swing!
The title of the song is Paper _DOLL_ singular.
They did this song in a movie with Dorothy Dandridge -- she played the paper doll who came to life and danced.
AT 83 I NEVER TIRE OF THE BROS....ONE & ONLY!!!!

Love this!
Wow. I can listen to Harry Mills sing all day.
I seem to understand the bass was done by one of the singers because of a musicians strike at the time and they decided to keep it because of good reports from the fans!
That’s interesting
Signature tune!
My parents had this album. I am 66.

This is my Daddy and my song.
I sure do miss my Daddy.
we thought they were old guys.. heh. my old man's music
It's a lovely song about self-gratification with a girlie magazine. The singing and guitar playing were top notch.
My mom knew these singers .she was with them when they got started.😅
Nice jazz guitar. Thanks.
Paper Doll
PAPER DOLL!
Love Thier Whole Family!
Superior music. Tnx for this.
They dont make them like this anymore. The guitar player was phenomenal also. Is that Bernard Addison on guitar?
I believe it's Norman Brown on to the guitar.
I think it is Cliff White, who replaced Norman Brown for a short time after Brown was drafted during WW2.
Yes, it’s Cliff White. He became Sam Cooke’s arranger in the 1960s and also taught Sam to play the guitar.
Brown was in the service at the time; this guy is a bit younger.
Ils étaient excellents. Quand je les écoute ça me mets de la joie au coeur❤❤❤❤❤❤😂
Any one recognize the guy introducing them? Tex Ritter, John Ritter's Father. John Ritter from the 60's TV show Three's Company.
You should check out the break dancing song totally amazing

You're right
That’s ROY ROGERS introducing them.
📻😁
The song is both sad and pathetic.
I'm gonna buy a paper doll that I can call my own
A doll that other fellows cannot steal
And then the flirty, flirty guys with their flirty, flirty eyes
Will have to flirt with dollies that are real
When I come home at night she will be waiting
She'll be the truest doll in all this world
I'd rather have a paper doll to call my own
Than have a fickle-minded real live girl
I guess I had a million dolls or more
I guess I've played the doll game o'er and o'er
I just quarreled with Sue, that's why I'm blue
She's gone away and left me just like all dolls do
I'll tell you boys, it's tough to be alone
And it's tough to love a doll that's not your own
I'm through with all of them, I'll never fall again
Say boy, whatcha gonna do?
I'm gonna buy a paper doll that I can call my own
A doll that other fellows cannot steal
And then the flirty, flirty guys with their flirty, flirty eyes
Will have to flirt with dollies that are real
When I come home at night she will be waiting
She'll be the truest doll in all this world
I'd rather have a paper doll to call my own
Than have a fickle-minded real live girl
I think the lyrics are supposed to be humorous, but I can imagine that is your personal dilemma.
@@dizocilpine You may have a point.
Please change the title to the correct name of the song, Paper "Doll", not "Dolls".
Paper Doll*
