Kato Track is worth every penny. They last for years and are DCC friendly, never had any trouble with them. I have been a customer of Kato for over 20 years. I have never been disappointed. I agree with you about buying too much. I have a special credit card with a low limit $300 just for train purchases. I never can spend too much with that low limit.

I love unitrak, looks good, works great, always in gauge and dead reliable. Just a bit on the pricey side.

I use this type of track too. It's quite the quality! Makes me wonder why it doesn't seem to be very popular among most modelers. It seems to have better quality than EZ track, that's for sure.

" why it doesn't seem to be very popular among most modelers" Because it isn't ideal for modelling, but it's fairly good for running trains quickly, like buying the stuff and within less time you're running train. You don't need to worry about wiring up a lot of wires to the track and rail joiners, or wiring switches and all that, which is what you do to make an actual model and getting it looking as true to life as you can. It also costs a LOT compared to just turnouts and flex track. It just doesn't look as real as normal track.

Awesome ho scale Kato unitrack review Shawn! That's some of the best track you can get in any scale in my opinion! Great video!

Will My RivaRossi Locomotives Run On KATO Unitrack? Are They Code 100 Track or Code 83 Working On A Layout But Need To Know If KATO or EZ-TRACK

Is this available in C100? I have vintage stock that can't do C83. Also, can you confirm if power is cut to a turnout unless the point is turned in that direction? Thanks.

Having just recently bought the V1 pack that will be complimented with the M1 next month. The Kato Unitrack is very well made and is much better than the Bachmann alternative. Also its made in Japan, that makes it better than the lower grade made in China tack that Hornby and Bachmann sell. I model mostly in OO/HO gauge but I had an N scale model railway that dated back from 2009 to 2012 before I moved over to the larger stuff.
I may well consider having N scale again later one now that more TGV's are available. I just wish that Kato would consider making some Irish trains in N scale as there is a lack of Irish trains in N gauge.
    Greetings from Northern Ireland.

I have been using Kato track since 2001. I had totally switched over as its clearly high quality and easy to use.. I never have problems with derailing and I have 17 switches and a double frog in my 8x4 n scale layout. I have 5 main line tracks, and I pull up to 40 cars on a couple of my fright trains. All the cars go over every turn out and double crossover no problem. The HO Kato wouldn't be different from the n scale except for the size. I run a 4-8-8-4 BigBoy and have no problems with it just make sure you use the correct radius of curve. Also, depending on the size of your layout and what type of transformer you use and if you have a loss of power just had in feeder track wherever you train loses power. I use a CMI transformer and I have no problem with power loss. Also whats nice about Kato you can run DCC no problem with it, Just like Hans said you don't need insulated rail joiners, only unless you are going to have a turn around loop then you will have to have insulated joiners and separate power source for that as its own block.

Liked your video, but I'm an odd ball model railroader. I do n and ho scales. I prefer unitrack for n scale but not my ho stuff. N is so tiny unitrack makes it easy and tracks well. But my ho I use code 83 flex and turn outs. I like the fact I can cut track anywhere and curve it to any shape. I've been in the hobby for 40 years😀

It's easy to make your own powered rail joiners. Just solder wire feeders on to some regular rail joiners.

Don't you mean that the turnouts *are* power routing if the track is actually dead when the points aren't lined in that direction?

What about Kato crossings with gates? I cannot find a source, picture, or price.

I use to use Bachmann track back in my high school years, nothing but junk to me, too many derailments and can only run certian freight cars.

I have been using HO scale Kato unittrack since 1997 and I have found it to have the widest radii curves for molded while other track manufacturers did not have super wide radii for realistic operation. Nice operation by the way. I love the passenger cars, too. Does anyone know why Kato changed from the darker ballast in to the lighter ballast in their plastic molds?

i love Unitrack but just cant deal with the look of the roadbed. I know you can weather and ballast it but still doesnt work for me. Is a brilliant product though. I love the plug and play turnouts.

Try replacing the Broadway trucks with good Walthers trucks. By the way... it’s pronounced KAH -TOE. Not Kay Toe!
