Wish I could find one like that in a garage. Love the SD1's - grew up with them as my dad had two consecutive 3500's when they first came out in the seventies. The 6 cylinder engines have one of the easiest cambelts to do - you don't even have to take off the bottom pulley!
The algorithm only just brought me here, absolutely a car that is in my future, really do want a 2600 - V8's are great and all but the sixes need saving and are worth some love. That is in incredible condition and I am fairly jealous :)
Hi. Thanks. You're right they do need saving. You'll get one I'm sure 😊 Sad situation but that said, I'm loving it. Next up, when I finish editing is the carb rebuild. All the best.
As a Granddad with a 26 Vanden plas in my garage i look forward to seeing the next instalment , personally i would spin it over with the plugs out to get some oil around the system first , that will also help filling the carbs with fresh petrol too , have fun .
|Yes i figured you may but couldn't be sure , it might be a bit lumpy to start with , the ignition seems to cause misfires after a period without use but they run smoothly when warmed up .@@andrewclarkehomeimprovement
I'm very lucky to be able to work on this and honoured to hopefully bring it back to life. Its also a lot of fun and takes me back to my youth. All the best.🙂
Have you thought about approaching the likes of The Great British car Journey or another Car/Transport museum as it such low mileage and in original condition it wants preserving ?
Still in the garage. I haven't been able to give it any more time recently with work and family illness it's kind of had to take a back seat. It's been there 33 years a few extra months ain't gonna hurt. However, I pumped up the original tyre in Nov last year and they're still holding pressure which is incredible.
@@englishexplorer5985 we're going to sell it. I won't have time to get it fully road worthy but I will get the engine fettled and running. Carbs serviced, new timing belt, plugs, points, alternator and starter serviced, new clutch master cylinder. My objective is, it drove into the garage, I want to have the satisfaction of driving it out. My fil would appreciate that. It would put a big smile on his face I'm sure.
It's a generic description of a car that's been stored or parked up inside for decades and then 'discovered'. When you read that, you know broadly what's going to happen and probably see something interesting. It's like every vacuum cleaner is called a Hoover even when it was made by Dyson or whoever. Thanks for your comment and have a great day.
