  • Half/Twin ropes make long, technical descents easier on many routes by allowing you to make full, 60M rappels and carry little extra weight while still giving you real ropes as options. Keeping them neat at a transition, however can be challenging. This method for preparing your rappel when the leader arrives to the anchor can help mitigate some frustrations and speed up the process.

I great video and idea, however, I didnt like the skip forwarding... I know short videos are good but it is also beneficial to see exactly how you do things efficiently and safely.

Totally understandable and I agree. Apologies as this was for Instagram so it had to be under a minute.

How are you belaying the second up when your belay device is already on the rope for a rappel?

Key here are two things: each strand of the overland has to be properly tightened and there need to be 30 cm to 50 cm of free ends. Overhand will roll if weighted otherwise, ppl have died because of this. Also, the overhand to join the ropes reduces the rope strength quite significantly. It's ok for rappel, but nothing else, don't fall on it. Double fisherman's is safer but more complicated.

These are the old version of the Rumba by Petzl. They are 8mm and Twins, which are not made anymore as of 3 years ago or so.
