Rheem makes a liquid cleaner - just pour a bottle in and start regeneration.......very simple and no problem with powder.

I noticed my water wasn’t softening so I checked this and found a lot of white stuff caked on the float near the bottom. I added the them brand cleaner and did a regen cycle but still seeing it caked on. Should I attempt pulling it out and manually cleaning like you mentioned?

Decided to shop for a cabinet softener like yours instead of a two piece system and looking at this particular model. What's your opinion of it?

Thank you for your help. I have the same water softener as you in the video. Should I be adding water to it. Someone told me that the water level should be 3 inches higher than the salt.

Normally you can't see any water unless the salt level is nearly empty. You can however see water in the bottom of the brine well - a few inches in the bottom. You don't need to add any water to the unit. The float valve (in the brine well) will control the water level in the bottom of the brine well. For cleaning - take a gallon water jug roughly half full and add the Iron Out (or similar powder) to the jug - let the powder dissolve (don't breathe the dust or fumes). Dump the mixture into the brine well every month or two.
