    I don't shoot competitively, so all my shooting is plinking and informal target shooting. BBguns are some of my favorite plinkers. Much enjoyed your video....😸

    Nicely put JRH, and thanks for introducing me to Hicock45. Me & the missus compete in HFT and Vintage HFT, and as a bit of practice there’s nothing we enjoy more than shooting a crushed tin can down range from 10yds all the way out to 35yds with a couple of vintage open sight springer’s. Great way to practice and very very fun. Cheers

    Airguns are all about convenience, plinking out back with the steel knock downs and paper targets for me and my Champion indoor trap is awesome.

    I love plinking it's so much fun trying different objects as targets as well as some over the counter targets you can buy. It's relaxing and enjoy full solo or with a friend or 2.

    It really hurts that Scotland banned air guns for the average person. I had to surrender mine back then. They were incredble fun for just destroying small objects like plastic cars and the like. Just can't do that with an airsoft gun and that's really the only nonlicensed option we have left. Closed I've gotten to the experience is a slingshot but most of the time it's too much effort and randomness, not as convenient as a rifle.

    Yo I've had such a hard time finding a way to spend time with my step son. He's 15 and I just don't like his video games much.
    I'm so happy! Since I bought him an ol daisy bb rifle - he's spent hours with me poppin bbs into energy drink cans.
    The times really do be changing. Some traditions never will.

    Entirely agree with you. Might be worth mentioning about ricochets in back garden which can cause problems if neighbours are unsympathetic though you've probably mentioned this elsewhere (?). I use a steel target box like yours to avoid this and occasionally insert printed images of 'celebrities' I don't care for.

    • @phantomshtter
      @phantomshtter 6 років тому

      Ummmm... pellets don't ricochet dude.

    • @mrbarbelbarbello2332
      @mrbarbelbarbello2332 6 років тому +5

      Truly, I've had pellets come back twenty yards (and hit me) until I changed the target surround, and this phenomenon, according to my dictionary, is a 'ricochet'.

    • @joeysd8489
      @joeysd8489 6 років тому +2

    • @davidupton3186

      I've also experienced ricochets. I heard that pellets ricochet more off wood than they do off brick or concrete.

    Yeah, I hate it, when guns are just long distance paper punches. Shooting at objects is much more fun in my opinion.

    Can't whack a bit of tin can bashing , specially with a pistol ... Thing is , you can set em out all over the place / different distances , ect , if yer gardens big enough , hang cans on a windy day via a string , then try hitting em ... Ain't as easy as it looks ... In my opinion , " plinking " assists shooting technique .. matter of fact , I'd do a bit now , but I've just watched Russia v Spain and I'm a little inebriated .. ...

    After soon sir
    I commented on this video which blimey is saying a year ago now. saying I had an idea to cast lead soldiers from used pellets. In doing so you have a sustainable supply of targets. Well I have finally got round to it. The mold surprisingly seems to be holding up quite well. Although the detail on the soldiers isn't as good with the pellet lead. There is pic's on Instagram just follow my name and my whittynameinserted is my tag. They all have been shot several times by a pistol which barely leaves a mark on them. So I moved on up to a 7 ft lb rifle. which again although the pellets imbedded didn't really deform the soldiers. So to the 11. Ft lb test although there heads were removed which by the way were only lightly tacked on. The soldiers barely showed any sign of deformation. And what deformation was caused could easily be straightened. All this shooting was done at a range of 4 yards as well. Moving back to 10 or 20 yard i believe they could hold up a lot better and would be usable many times.all in all I'm surprised how well they've held up and the fact they can be used multiple times when I was expecting a single use out of them before being melted down and recast
    Any who keep up the good work looking forward to the 1st of next month

    Great vid. But I don't think it makes a lot of sense. There are only a few countries like the UK where hunting is allowed. Or where there is a "culture " of competitive shooting. In most countries plinking is pretty much the only thing that you are allowed to do with an airgun. Cheer up!

      Mate I’m not sure what you are on about I’ve competed & hunted in pretty much every European country, north and south America, Australia and Russia! so off the bat I’ve covered over a third of the globe dude 🤣👍🤷‍♂️

      bugsy742 dear lord why are you getting so defensive. I said it was a great video (like all your vids are btw) Your the one who felt the need to make a vid showing that plinking is great fun for every one to be enjoyed, with every type of airgun and is certainly not only for kids and beginners. You looked so serious (that’s why I said “cheer up”) But that is exactly what many people back home in the US still think. Bring an air rifle that costs more than double the price of a firearm to the range and still the Redrider jokes are being thrown at you. And they’ll keep em coming. It also isn’t legal (especially in my beautiful home state of Hawaii) to hunt with an air rifle in all 50 states. South America seems a lot like Russia cause you can do pretty much whatever you like because nobody cares. Much of Eastern Europe is like that, god bless them. The EU has to many stupid rules when it comes to hunting and not just with airguns. And Holland or The Netherlands is the worst. You can buy and own the most powerful air weapons in the world (as long as they don’t look to much like an existing firearm) But what good is that when you can only use them at an airgun range (if you can find one) or in your attic or basement. Or on your property that has been totally fenced off so that you can’t be seen from outside said property. A back yard (like in your situation would not be a good idea unless you have very, very friendly or like minded neighbors. And don’t even think about shooting at something that is alive. Because you will be arrested your guns confiscated and you will receive multiple death threats (courtesy of of the ever so friendly locals) Man I loved living in the UK. That is where I discovered air rifles again. At first (the ignorant American in me) had to laugh at the seriousness of the gunsmiths salespeople hunters and hobbyists. Because in my ignorant opinion serious shooting was only done with gunpowder. But after my first ratting trip I was hooked. After that it was the pigeons and rabbits. Having fun while helping out farmers is a great feeling. My favorite past time right now is hunting iguanas or tree chickens as they call them in Puerto Rico. Had a blast last year in Florida. Still there is no place like the Uk. Where airguns are respected and even treated by the government as firearms and not toys. I’m probably the only American who doesn’t mind the sub 12 limit. Anyway sorry to have ticked you off. But when I said “it doesn’t make sense” I was getting at the idea that plinking is for not serious shooters. That serious shooters are heavily involved in competitions and winning stuff. Or hunting. In my ignorant American opinion plinking is the first thing that a shooter does whether it is a firearm or an airgun. Why? Because it is simple cheap and enjoyable. And it is not only reserved for Daisy Redriders. And not every shooter has the luck of being in a place where he or she is allowed to legally hunt with an airgun or has a gun range nearby. Or has a big enough property where he or she can legally shoot. So backyard and in extreme cases living room plinking is often the only option to get some enjoyable trigger time done. Oh and next time (probably in two years) if you don’t understand what someone is trying to say, just ask them to clarify. No need to go on a rant about I have been competing and hunting in almost all European countries and playing the grand piano in Russia and South America. We all get around. More than you think. But not all of us play the grand piano. Oh, my UA-cam account may say Holland but that is not where I live. How could any serious air gunner live in such an evil place. Good day sir!
