My toilet has been doing this and I called a plumber who quoted me $250 !!!!! I'm a widow and on the pension, but I feel like I can do it myself now after watching this video several times. Thank you so much
Wow they be taxing!! That’s a huge profit for just changing the part. I hope you got it done. I’m a single woman who has never done this either and I’m on my way to the store to try to fix this
Years are going by and your simple, concise video is still helping people that otherwise would have called a plumber or wait for a maintenance person to do easy chore….
I can't thank you enough for this simple video and an $8 fix!! I watched it, bought the part, watched again and repaired it in less than 10 minutes!! Thanks again! 🤗
Watched this to make sure it was the right issue I was dealing with, then immediately sent it to my fiance LOL. I pretended I never watched it so that he could feel like a good helpful man of the house and now he’s got a weekend chore to do! Thank you so much! Quick, concise and efficient videos like this are a great sign that awesome trade workers still exist :)
It literally took me as long as this video to fix my toilet. Without this I would have followed the instructions in the box and replaced the entire unit. Brilliant.
Have replaced my 400 series a few times. Always replaced the entire unit... Never thought about just sliding off the valve itself. PRICELESS... You saved me lots of time. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for posting this. I have zero plumbing experience. You just made me look like the man in front of my wife and probably saved me a few hundred dollars paying someone else to do it. My eight year old son assisted me. Now he knows what to do if he runs into a toilet that doesn’t refill. Thank you.
Can’t thank you enough for this, man. I don’t think anything has simplified and improved my life quite the way that do it yourself videos on UA-cam have.
Fixed my toilet in literally a minute thanks to this video, didn’t even need to replace it just had a kink in the little hose on the fill valve 😅 Thanks 🙏🏼
THANK YOU SAM! I'm home alone during COVID-19 quarantine. The idea of taking apart the new fill valve and putting it on the old set up was GENIUS! I was very nervous about creating a leak under the tank, but your method solved that. I fixed my not-filling-up problem for under $10.
I'm a lady and a first time home owner.. Videos like this are why I love UA-cam. I don't know how much money I saved but I just fixed my toilet for $9. 😮😮😮❤❤ And I'm a plumber now. Thank you for this video. You're a lifesaver seriously
I watched a couple other videos where they did it a lot less simpler.you are straight to the point and you just save me a crap ton of money total cost to fix $11. You are the man thank you so much
Woke up to this problem today. Less than an hour later (most of that spent driving to and from the hardware store) my toilet works thanks to your video.
This was the best video I found on this topic! The most efficient, with the least amount of steps, and the most time-saving advice! Thank you, thank you thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you. My toilet was doing this when I woke up this morning. This is exactly what I did to fix it and it worked! Thanks so much for sharing. I'm sure you just saved me a few bucks by not having to call someone else in to repair it.
Thanks! U were spot on my problem was identical to this and turns out this was the problem and I had my apt fix it....lol..I told them what the problem was likely to be beforehand and took out the fill valve for them...and turned the toilet water off. The repairman was greatful! He said no one had ever removed it for him before when they had this problem. I think I made his day! :)
Thank you for sharing this method replacing the fill valve without taking the fill valve assembly apart. I had a hard time finding this video again and I'm glad I did.
Wow! Thank you!!! We just woke up this morning with a hissy toilet, we were able to identify and now are able to fix our toilet with your video. Very helpful!!
Thank you so much! I was worried about having to disconnect the water line and replace all of it. Thanks to this, I just switched my water lever off, pulled right up on what’s already a good connection, and reinstalled a new full valve. No tools required.
Perfect ! Last month I replaced the entire valve which with me being 65 and fat was a long painful process getting to the fittings of the Bidet seat , the valve nut . It was terrible . Today the other toilet acted up I found your vid and got the same brand and model of valve , changed the top only and swapped the o ring from the new stand pipe while I was at at from the new unused part to the old one . Now perfect ! Thank you
Sam you are the man! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world! Keep cranking out these videos. You are making a difference in the lives of many! God Bless!!
This post is so helpful. As someone who isn't the best at screwing/unscrewing hoses and pipes (I have weak hands, plus I'm always cross threading), this is the easy fix I needed. And I did it all by myself thanks to you! 😁
Thank you so so much. This was exactly the video I needed. I couldn't believe how easy you made it. I am a single mom and not but so handy, but with the right video, I was able to do it myself. So grateful to you.
thanks. the video i watch before yours had me cutting off the water, unscrewing the valve from the bottom, pulling the whole thing up, and replacing with a brand new one. now i know to just release the cap, slide up the valve and slide the new one on. awesome, thanks.
I knew this valve system was fairly simple. But I never realized it was this basic to remove and replace! Power of UA-cam to remove the anxiety of not knowing previously.
I can totally do this myself, thank you so much for this helpful video! You saved me a ton of money that I didn’t know how I was going to come up with to hire a plumber!!
I ws already to do this alone - when my son in law watched the video - he jumped in & fixed it brilliantly! We had a rock in the hose, & kept the prior valve (for the bottom of the tank) bc it looked sturdier than the new one- but it got fixed! Thank you for simple instructions!!
Thank you so much!! This is *exactly* what I needed to know to fix my toilet. You kept me from having to call a plumber and spend a couple hundred bucks.
Yup, that’s exactly what the problem was with my toilet. The was fill valve was clogged. Squirted some Lime-a-way in to the holes where water shot out and used a skewer stick to break up with hard mineral deposits & lime scale. Easy fix. Thanks for the advice!
Thank you so much for this video. The same thing just happened to my toilet. These instructions made the transaction easy and its all fixed now (and I'm the absolute worst handy-man I know).
It was going to cost me a $100 service charge + parts + tax. Watched your video. Said I can do this. Bought the part I needed, fixed it myself and it only cost me $15. Thanks.
Thank you so much for posting this video. The old fill valve gave me problems to uninstall, but I got it out and the new one was a perfect fit. Thank you again for the video. 👍
Thank you for the upload. Mine had the exact same problem to what you had. I absolutely 100% needed to replace it because it was taking a long time to refill like 5-10 minutes and it was kept on refilling to the overflow line. I replaced it and it’s good as new.
Thanks for the video. I thought my issues was a clog, then I realized it probably was the unit itself. But I thought I would check with UA-cam for a video and yours was the first one is saw. Yup it was the unit and I had no idea that you could just removed the top part off the water tube it was on. I always replaced the entire unit, which involved, of course, releasing the unit from under the tank. I got the new Fluid Master and it was done in seconds. THANKS for doing these videos for us.
You saved me!!! I’m a widow & BOTH toilets the tank isn’t filling. Now I just removed that piece you demonstrated & I’ll take it to purchase a new one. I guess Lowes?
I'm a single woman who just bought a house that needs work. Videos like this have been serious help! Thank you!

Thank you so much for this video, this is the only one iv found that just replaces the top of the valve instead of the entire thing. Fixed my toilet!!
I can totally do this myself, thank you so much for this helpful video! You saved me a ton of money that I didn’t know how I was going to come up with to hire a plumber!!
Thanks for this video!!! $8 part from home depot and all is set!. Took more time to prep and clean than it did to install the new pieces.
THANK YOU! Literally the easiest fix ever. Quick and simple only took me 2 minutes to install it.
I ws already to do this alone - when my son in law watched the video - he jumped in & fixed it brilliantly! We had a rock in the hose, & kept the prior valve (for the bottom of the tank) bc it looked sturdier than the new one- but it got fixed! Thank you for simple instructions!!
