Just the way he writes, the way he sings, those beautiful and amazing licks he always does playing any guitar with his fingers. Mark Knopfler is the full package with any guitar on his hands. Mark Knopfler is above all a great songwriter. He has received a lot of attention for his virtuosity on the guitar, and rightfully so, but his lyrics and compositions put him in the company of people like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and James Taylor. i love brian singing non acdc style --id love him to do an album of songs like this far more touching and introspective is something like this he has the voice but i think you dont get the seriousness like this in acdc

    Love this, my dad always loved ACDC and Mark Knopfler and is the reason i love this kind of music as he would always been listening to stuff like this.
    This song in particular i remember us driving up to do delivery's for a company we worked at and it brings me straight back to this, we would also have a good few ACDC songs too :).

    seriously, it makes me cry to hear Mark speak so about his songs
    I bought the first in 1979 and all my friends said, what the hell is that?
    and I said, Mozart with a Strat
    it took 30 yrs before any of my friends got it

    I really love these short vignettes from Brian! I also can’t believe that I am saying that Mark Knopfler is underrated after he was such a guitar monster in the 80s. His music is superlative.

    • @tonybelmonte1724
      @tonybelmonte1724 3 роки тому +2

      He is not underrated. EVERYONE knows what a musical genius he is. He plays that guitar so effortlessly. To me he is top 5.

    • @mikekarena
      @mikekarena 3 роки тому +2

      @@tonybelmonte1724 I think you misunderstood my point unfortunately. To you, obviously a fan if you are watching this, he is not underrated. I would disagree that everyone knows he is a musical genius even if they have heard (unlikely for people under 40) of Dire Straits. Most younger music fans don't know names beyond Jimi and Jimmy.

    • @sidpackard8613
      @sidpackard8613 3 роки тому

      @@tonybelmonte1724 His solo career is totally underrated. “All The Road Running” is an AMAZING album, and most people I mention it to have never heard of it and lost track of MN in the 90’s.

Feet firmly on the ground. Such a nice guy. Knopfler is one of my favourite guitarists too. A genius and unique style of writing and playing. Marvellous clip of these two.

Two (now) elder statesmen of popular music, reflecting on the beauty of words and song. Brian's obvious love for Mark's craft is so endearing - and this short video is such a gift.
