So many of Mark Knopfler's tunes are stories set to music. From the first Dire Straits album and through his entire career he told stories, while playing some of the most wonderful guitar I've ever heard. ;-)
That is what a true songwriter is imo. Bob Dylan, the late Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman and Gordon Lightfoot are also wonderful songwriters and able to tell a story

My Dad absolutely loved this song, he obviously related but we would sit together happily singing along quietly to the "sailing to philadelphia" album. What it is, silver town blues ......gems!
That song changed my life once…amazing song, lyrics, music, voice…it has everything! 💚
Amazing video! Brian Johnson is really a symphatic guy. I wish he came to visit me also LOL :)
Beautiful, most of Mark’s best music would be best described as folk music, it’s timeless. Could listen to him all day.
