Queen Angella: My daughter has always hated me and called me a coward so I'm sacrificing myself. Now please look at my daughter in a better light and not for the hellspawn she is
Dr. Phil: Angella, you need to take charge in your relationship with your daughter. You have to confront her about her terrible behaviour and put your foot down.
It's okay, there's no way this garbage fire is profitable enough to get renewed. Kyle's suffering is over, he enters the peaceful sleep of the cancelled.
Poor Angella just tried to do the right thing, but her own daughter made her feel horrible every time. Now she went and sacrificed herself. Hope you're happy, Glimmer. Thanks for ridding the rebellion of the one decent leader it had. 🙄 Also Adora punching Catra in the face reminds me of when Hermione punches Draco. Feels kinda good XD
Seeing Catra getting clipped is especially satisfying after how she treated our baby boy Kyle. Even in the "Perfect world," he still gets stepped on. But at least Catra gets her behind handed to her.
Reminds me of Spinel punching Steven. Honestly if you watched S5 of SU and even care in episodes before, you would understand why that moment was so satisfying.
The only good things I can say about this episode: 1. Adora stood up to Catra and punching her on the cheek 2. Queen Angela's sacrifice (least important): Glimmer looked cute in that skirt I wish the designers kept it
I Wish they had showed more the mother daughter relationship of Ângela and Adora. It would be great see her with a healthy mother figure instead of just the toxic Shadow Weaver
Crackhead thoughts: What I wished that they didn't throw Angela out, entirely. You can just have her communicate with people by ripping a part off of her wings, crumbling them, to make magic dust to form some speak spell. This can happen because she married the most powerful sorcerer in Ethyrian history. (Even more so because of "The spell of Obtainment) So he could have taught her some spells. I know it's dark, but when your literally between a wormhole, what are going to use to survive.
It's so weird how the show makes a big deal about Bow's abs while in the original we saw Bow's abs all the time and it was just there. And they do Queen Angelica so dirty! In the original, she's a competent leader and loving mother. In this reboot, this show tries so hard to underplay her to support Glimmer who in this version is an entitled brat. Adora punching out Catra and FINALLY realizing that she is NOT responsible for everything IS great.
And a lot of Angelica being sidelined and shat on so much feels like it's more of Stevenson burning the character in effigy of her mother; Glimmer's so inconsistent with the rest of the show because she's a recreation of Stevenson's D&D character...who also exists to piss off her mother by Stevenson's own admission. Her artbook also largely refers to much of her 'creative' drive being out of spite for her parents. So take what you will from that.
I agree that its strange that the reboot series makes such a big deal about Bow's abs when before it was just part of his design and no one gave a damn about it, especially when you consider that by comparison Adora doesn't show off her legs in civilian guise like she once did, AND that the majority of these characters are underage teenagers now & yet they draw more attention to their bodies than the old show ever did. And yes, reboot Glimmer is an awful little brat who is CONSTANTLY going against her mother's wishes even when doing so is CLEARLY a bad idea and no matter how many mistakes she makes she NEVER seems to learn and always betrays Angela's trust again and again. Also, you'd think Glimmer AND Angela would think twice before helping Adora reset reality if they know, or at least believe, that Micah is dead in the old reality, like it would take more convincing to make them sacrifice his life even if it was ultimately for the greater good, i.e. reality will collapse if its not reset properly, so they're gonna lose him again anyway. The harder they try to screw over Angela, the worse Glimmer looks by comparison, these writers just don't seem to know what they're doing. As for Catra being punched out by Adora, that was definitely long overdue, but it came too little too late in the series if you ask me, & I suspect the show plans to continue to underplay Hordak in order to push Catra as the new big bad even though HE'S the one who created the Horde & the living situation that made Catra into the monster she is now, so he SHOULD be the greater scope villain. I'm honestly okay with Catra never being redeemed since she's burned so many bridges at this point it should be impossible for her to mend things with Adora (despite Shadow Weaver apparently being accepted into the good guy team despite being Hordak's former righthand & an abusive mother figure), but I still don't think she's evil mastermind material, she's just bitter and spiteful to the point of foolishness & madness.
What's weird is when I watched Angella's sacrifice, I thought it was really good and emotional, likely due to the swelling music and I thought the actual performance from Angella's actress was aces, but after thinking about it, I felt that it wasn't wholly earned from a writing standpoint. If she actually was more cowardly, this turn would work like gangbusters, but now it's well-meaning but problematic. Glad that Adora is done with Catra (though I still don't expect it to stick), and I felt a bit bad for Hordak. Poor guy just wanted his waifu. Thanks for sticking through this series, thus far. I do hope there is a Season Four, just to see where it goes next.
I can't but feel that Noelle Stevenson's portrayal of Angela as a coward is her projection of her mother who wanted for her to disappear. Just to have Shadow Weaver aka the Devil to hang around with.
This is the kind of projection writers need to stop doing to the characters they are given to write, this franchise is not theirs, and it comes off as very petty, childish, and unprofessional.
Now with Glimmer as queen, do not be surprised when Bright Moon catches fire within days and Glimmer just hosts parties while everything goes into chaos. Yet, they still screw over Kyle, he needs to be saved and sent to a better series.
Do you guys think that the thing with Kyle is that he's supposed to be that annoying character that receives the slapstick punishments, but they forgot to make him annoying?
@@aritraroy6592 What? That's like saying that other black girl from the team is supposed to be the representation of the main character of young adult novels. Not like they are criticizing the trope, he's just there... Actually, it would be funny if he got the sword and became a better She-ra than Adora, or just a better companion
@@aritraroy6592 Does that make the hatred towards Kyle stem from racism and sexism from the writers? Part of me kinda thinks the skinny luckless chosen one doesn't have to be a white male. So it darn well might be.
Sadly Disney (cough cough) basically ripped off Ever After High with Disney Descendants which caused the downfall of EA High. Hard to complete with the mouse.
@@TheSpawnfan Yeah hard to complete with the mouse. In the toys, where the companies make their money, Ever After High was one of those successes. The problem was Disney ever the grubber saw what was going on. Since most kids know the Disney characters Princesses etc, well it was bound to happen. Ever After High preceeded Disney's Descendants by a year or two. In fact there's a youtuber that covered it. I think it was called What ever happened to Ever After High.
Really not a fan of this "trend" nowadays where writers think that the only way to prop characters up is by tearing others down. It just doesn't come across that the writer is trying to tell a good story, and is instead mean-spiritedly bashing their own work. In which case why should I get invested in your story if you aren't? In any case, congrats on surviving this train-wreak of a show with your sanity intact! ...Kyle is voiced by Pit (sigh) I don't know if I'll get over that. That poor boy.
Also dose Deku and Cloud from the FF7 Machinabridged series(which Iove),.......These show runners need to give this guy a gift basket of European chocolates soon.
Doesn't feel like the same, since Catra will be reedemed even being a complete chernobyl toxic girlfriend with Adora. Also, Catradora is inspired in Stevenson's wife relationship, so....
I seriously question the tastes of people who legit like this show. The relationships are super shallow and toxic, hardly anything of substance happens, and the animation is so meh (except some of the backgrounds and landscapes, they look pretty neat). The Mika thing could have been a great twist that pushes Angela and Glimmer to actually work together to find out what happened to him, but naw. They left it as 'next season bait.' Angela's history as an eternal queen who's dealt with so much loss and pain is once again ignored because that would cut into Glimmer's 'whoa is me I have an overbearing mother!' angst. I did like seeing Angela do some actual flying, wish there was way more of it. Ah Bow, doesn't it stink to be around people who ignore your wishes and continually push you around? I'll think of this as Kyle's revenge against you for being a pompous jerk when he asked for friendship and you gave him the cold shoulder. Makes the scenes much sweeter 😊 Also, so glad Catra finally got something knocked into her!! Now I don't mind unrepentant villains or sympathic ones, but Catra is the worst of those troops rolled into a furry ball of ship bait and annoyance.
I think it’s pretty likely that Mara was changed late in production because ‘Oh shit, wouldn’t it be cool if we showed this legacy character ISN’T ALWAYS BLONDE?’ But then forgot to/weren’t able to change the flashbacks and other materials. And/Or all the flashbacks and other stuff were meant to be red herrings for whatever reason.
It would be one thing if "She-Ra" has a consistent form, and everyone turns into that regardless of what they normally look like. But they don't establish that because they sidelined the entire She-Ra part of a show called She-Ra. Adora/She-Ra is a tertiary character to her own show, so everything related to her is underdeveloped and results in stupid issues like this...though a lot of this is because they boast so much about identity politics.
Oh great . They killed Angela like that and now Glimmer rules brightmoon . I guess the rebellion is lost. Also Catra being punched was the highlight of this episode
At no point did I ever see Queen Angela as a coward or as overprotective. She doesn't deserve a daughter like that. I hope someone upsurps the throne. Keep Up The Good Work~!
Not caring if the show continues or not . I gave up on "season" 1 ( or part 1 ). But I thank you two for all your efforts , and I hope you find a tv show that deserve your review . :)
Realistically, the only good thing that'll come from a new season is hearing you two picking it apart. But I don't want you to suffer for our pleasure. 😁
Even in an alternate "Perfect" world, Glimmer is a bossy, spoiled brat that forces her "Friends" into doing what she wants even becoming the new queen. I wonder if the showrunner has any sort of ties to this character? Nah. No one's that conceded enough to put their own OC into the body of an established character of a prior existing show. Micah and Angella can't share the passionate kiss, that's reserved for when Adora redeems Catra and they live happily ever after which we all know is going to happen. . . If there's another season that is. Honestly; I'd be hilarious if this show ended there. So many articles have already blamed the new He-man show in the works and trying to lesson it because of how afraid that with all their hyping this up, it was wasted.
Angella:"You want to know a secret...." Angella: "the truth is Adora...Glimmer was not my first child. 3 years before i gave birth to her i had a baby boy, a beautiful boy, a boy with blond hair and irises as dark as night... When he laughed he would smile as if he was willing to help anyone in need no matter if they deserved it or not. I knew he was destined for greatness....but one day, i chose to leave him alone in his crib so i could get the teddy he left in the other room. When i came back.....Hordak had climbed through the window and Took him from me! i tried to stop him...but i only ended up hitting his skeletal minion with my magic. I...I can sense that he is still alive...he is somewhere amongst the vile hoard. Adora! I need you alive, you are far stronger then me! You will be able to find him and bring him back to the kingdom...Bring him back to those who love him...."
So Bow & Glimmer fading away made me realize that I don't see them as the "best friend squad" that they're always screeching that they are. Bow feels like their punching bag & Glimmer's possession. Glimmer & Adora don't feel close even though Adora has rescued Glimmer. This along with never gaining any investment in their characters really left me un-bothered that they were gone.
@@tayojones9460 Is Hordak even a villain at this point? OG Hordak was way more threatening than him despite being more comical in some parts, the "heroes" and Catra act more like villains in this, specially regarding Kyle, and Angella as far as Glimmer is concerned, heck, Adora is more Angella's daughter than Glimmer and for a show that is supposedly praised for relationships we don't see enough of that.
That tumblr post about Mara, again like the Entrapta post felt to me like designer is trying to cover himself to avoid the vitriol from the mob that descend on fan artists and showrunners alike for not making it to their specifications. They made the show pander to them, so now they have to carry all the baggage that comes with them. And I would bet, if another season didn't occur (which seems likely with many involved looking for other work) They'll bare their fangs and tear the show the apparently loved so much apart...
About time Adora finally stand up for herself, doubly so her punching Catra and realizing Catra's just gone too far. Though one can argue that it's a little late for this. Like it took near destroying their reality for her to finally understand Catra is unreasonable and crazy? Not leaving her to die in the flashback episode? Not all the taunts, put downs, and violence? I'm starting to think this version of Adora's really dense.
Honestly, this episode had what I thought was the best moment in the series. Adora just being done with Catra's shit before punching her in the face. So good. Honestly, Adora's line about "improvising" is making me think that this was the mantra the writers were following when writing this series. It would explain all the sloppy inconsistencies the series has. This really does feed in to my theory the series doesn't have a well thought out bible, if at all. Glimmer, oh dear, Glimmer. She is just so horribly written and unlikable in this series. The writers seem to be under the mistaken belief that she's a sympathetic character, despite the fact she's bratty to her mother, cruel to her friends and often demonstrates she's not that competent. With her as the queen of Bright Moon, they are SO screwed. One thing that stuck in my craw was the look of Horde Prime's space castle thing. This series has been accused of plagiarizing Voltron: Legendary Defender on more than one occasion while also insulting them for how they handled their LGBT characters such as Adam, who was killed offscreen. (Hello, Pot. My name's Kettle.) However, this shot of the space castle ticked me off so much since the look of it is almost exactly the same as Zarkon's space castle. It's hard to give She-Ra praise at the best of times, but this example of blatant plagiarism after insulting the Voltron staff is just galling to behold. If the show gets a fourth season, I probably won't bother watching it. If it doesn't... Well, let's just say it reminds me of a line from TFS's Pokémon Nuzlocke videos. "Will not be missed!". But that's just me.
@@marcosortega3350 true. If made canon, it would have sent a wrong message like, oh if you send death threats and such to showrunners, producers, etc. you can get your ship canon.
This show is just badly thought out from start to finish, which is really the fault of having someone with zero experience heading up the entire thing and exposes this inexperience with glaring effect! Also the talk before the show aired, about how they were going to be using all of the princesses more in this show than the original, yet to only use them less. There's so little focus in this show, which has more holes than Swiss cheese, the only thing it seems to try to bring is shipping potentials, something that should be left to the minds of individuals outside of the show, rather than it being the whole point if the show. I do hope this is the last we will see of this incarnation, as it really doesn't deserve continuation, and seeing as his Netflix is cancelling animated shows left and right, I really hope this show has got the chop!
I don't think so, they're still having to "air" the other half (26 episodes). But yup, I'd wish they would've used the Princesses more in the show, instead of focusing mainly on the main trio, I mean, the show is called "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power", not "She-Ra and the main trio".
With another season done, I have to say that I'm really not a fan of this series, like at all. The only thing I kind of enjoy is Hordak and Entrapta because of their chemistry and designs, thats about it. Even with that I will say I enjoy your videos, mostly for different views on subject and media that try to use this concept of representation without any actual substance to it. You guys have been improving alot and I hope to see more videos. Also your voices are weirdly calm, like the artist lavendertown you guys just make me feel relaxed. Keep up the good work
Yet Carta is complaining about being abused. Everyone on the Horde but didn't act like that and Klye is literally punching bag of the series and you don't see him act like that. Poor guy can never catch a break. I feel more sorry for him than Carta and wish he can take her place her place. He needs a hug, she needs to burn
"Mara" is actually a character that already exists in Masters of the Universe. She is the "Teela" of New Adventures of He-Man. Dreamworks sort of shoe-horned her into She-Ra mythos.
I don't see this show getting a season 4. Despite all the articles it gets, this show is just not popular to justify its cost. Maybe if Stevenson and co. actually sat down and worked on their writing, things wouldn't seem so uncertain.
Not to mention Netflix is cutting corners on animation and going for anime. Bojack Horseman is getting cancelled after its sixth season. If something as popular as Bojack is getting canned, then She ra isn't gonna survive either no matter how much it's shilled by Netflix and the mainstream
WTF ANGELLA SACRIFICED HERSELF :( she was a good mother and respectable queen and one of the few adult/mature characters. i'm sad that annoying Glimmer always mistreated her and writers will use her death as 'character development' for Glimmer.
Angella deserved a send-off that actually felt appropriate for her character. It was okay that she sacrificed herself, but her last conversation is trying to prop up Glimmer, which is terrible. Have Glimmer there, have Angella say how she's a Queen and a mother, so it's her duty, none of that ridiculous "I'm a coward" speech. As for the immidiate future of Bright Moon, well, they did imply Micah is alive, so... Glimmer gets yet another "get out of responsibility" card! How joyful -_- As for the rest of it, Dreamworks actually ordered 52 episodes of this thing before it even began production, so it's probably going to continue. Netflix doesn't produce She-Ra, only distributes it, so they can't really cancel it.
Agreed. Had Angella sacrificed herself to protect her daughter and beloved husband, that would have made sense. But, we can't have good storytelling, now can we?
8:53 - And here we have another case of them committing copyright infringement. That's a character from New Adventures series. They said numerous times that they have the rights for only She-Ra, nothing else. How they can keep getting away with that is baffling.
Not only does Queen Angella's sacrifice feel hollow and forced; but thinking about it; it was painfully obvious. She has very little screen-time, with most of it spent on Angella being a jerk to Glimmer. in the list of expendable named characters, they planted her at the very top.
I have a feeling next year is going to be a lack of she-ra but near the end will be announcements about new she ra stuff (like a new season, changes to the staff, etc) So I am going the chill this next year
This show is such a mess. Angella's arc was terrible. Adora getting to punch Catra is her best growing moment. Glimmer never changed. Catra got worse. And I've noticed that more and more creators are making their own story but adding old IP skins so that it's unrecognizable to the older fans ( is Joker). As for the Tumblr post? I guess it could be true but it felt more like they were trying to cover themselves from criticisms.
I think the thing that pisses me off more than anything about this show is how the character's actions seem to have little to no consequence. It doesn't matter what they do, or what gets done to them, things will always work out and they never have to grow. Glimmer and Angela are the textbook example of this: Glimmer can continue to put her life in danger, go behind her mother's back, and act like a spoiled child who was denied a new toy, but it's her mother who always has to bend and come down to her level, never the other way around. Glimmer making the deal with Shadow weaver should have been the big turning point. The point where Glimmer's ego finally pushed her to doing something so stupid that it got her and everyone she cared about in trouble, and that her mother might have had some sound advice after all. But no. Angela is now in another portal, Glimmer is queen, and Shadow weaver's bargain seems to have had no negative consequences. At lest Adora got to punch Catra and give some silver lining... I hope this show burns in cancellation hell.
I will say this. As a finale, this wasn't terrible. The writing by itself worked. The problem with this series has and will always be the lack of proper build up and pay off. If the writers knew they were going to Axe Glimmer's mom at the end of the season. They really should have spent more time focusing on her character. And to be honest, if anyone should have been taken out in this season, it should have been Glimmer. Her character has made one mistake after another and she never has to pay any price for it. This would have probably been the best lesson the writers could have made by having her be the one to be sacrificed. But I get that probably would have been too dark for a kids show. As I said, the episode was fine. But everything else that lead up to it, just didn't feel as impactful as it should have been. The show tries to play itself off as a world at war. But when it's all said and done, it really doesn't feel like that. If they were going to do something where the real Hordak was going to come to their world, then they should have made the Horde a significantly smaller threat then they were only to have the reveal that the real Horde was out there. The problem is, Hordak, the clone version, is claimed to be this great contribution to the real Hordak's army. But we see him fail time and time again throughout the entire series. The army he builds in completely incompetent. Entrapta, some spazy little girl, is able to surpass him in every technological aspect. Hordak, the clone version, as a character contributes absolutely nothing and fails to do anything on his own. Yet we are supposed to believe that he was this great support for the galactic empire he came from. With this in mind, how then can we take the real Hordak seriously ? We know the writers aren't going to do anything that will have real consequences, so it all just feels like empty talk. And this all relates to Catra's character as well. I don't mind if they want Catra to be Adora's enemy. But they have got to give her something else other then this petty nonsense. As it stands, she's not even Adora's equal anymore. Her jealously of her is all consuming. And Adora can even match her in combat without the sword. Catra is just adequate as a villain. But if they want her to be an arch rival, they have got to upgrade her power set so she can go toe to toe with her. Especially since this real Hordak villain is a threat now, making the clone Hordak absolutely useless at this point. All in all, the show had a good finale. But it doesn't seem like it has anywhere to go, anything to say, or really anything of real importance to accomplish.
Since this show out right rips-off Avatar:TLA and the producers don't seem to have a clue about continuity, the same look of all of the past She-Ra is not unexpected. Remember, this is just an expensive, Mary-Sue fanfic, not a professionally produced animated series.
The thumbnail is pretty much my thoughts in a nutshell. The plot holes along with the character regression is too much for me. I only continue to watch for analytical purposes. I am thankful for it introducing me to this channel. So something good came out of it, it gave me these Analytical Sisters.
So Mara being Aryan in the flashback was _totally_ a trick of the light, never mind the different hair and facial structure, or that pure white light has every color so shouldn't wash out blues and browns. Likewise, Mara looking like Korra is _purely coincidental_ and not at all a hastily-ripped design by marketing hacks. Like Bow's dads being pulled from Dream Daddy and Dragon Age: Inquisition, or Bow looking just like his VA, or Glimmer looking like that How to Draw for Tumblr satire pic... If this show gets a S4 than I can look forward to more analysis from you two; if not, I'll have a lot more room to write a rewrite, assuming you two don't get to it first. Regardless, we've all learned a very important lesson: Entrapta's the only character who can get anything of worth done or otherwise knows what the Despondos is going on. At least this show has (somewhat) positive representation of autistic folks like myself, if not of QUILTBAG folks like myself.
You two are brave souls, watching this... Let's see what's up... 1:12 Oh no... That's even worse than Kyle's situation. Really feeling for you, Bow. /s 3:32 I guess her dad was teaching her non-combat spells? Or spells that are more for "getting away" than combat. :\ 7:05 So wait, even in this "perfect reality" Entrapta abandons her kingdom? Or is she just helping out? 8:20 Entrapta managed to invent something to escape this fake reality, that's why she's fading away. Or maybe the writers wanted it to be "dramatic" or something. 8:53 Huh... Your theory of "Mara's design wasn't finalized" makes the most sense, but if they intended her to be dark-skinned, they really should've informed the team. Or really kept her hidden in the shadows whenever she appeared. Talk about unfortunate. 12:25 Adora: Oh, she's back... What was her name again? Oh well, she probably wasn't that important if I can't remember. :\ 13:05 Finally! You go, Adora! 10/10! (that's the only one this series is getting) 14:17 Angela? A coward? Yeah right. :T 16:58 Wow, what an ass. Hopefully her "team-up" with Shadow Weaver backfires on her spectacularly and she learns something from this. That's the only way this would end well. Once again, I can't believe at one point I was kind of looking forward to this. :\ I hope season 4 doesn't happen at all, but we'll see what happens...
I agree with your tweet. My understanding is that the She Ra form was just the idealized Heroic form of whomever activated The Sword of Protection. Since Adora wielded the sword, She Ra looks like an idealized version of her. Having the She Ra form white as default makes it look like the show has a white savior complex.
White savior Is a white character saving a bunch of people of color (ex: good white cowboy saving the natives from bad white cowboys), if She ra Is suppoused to save the whole world then its not white savior trope by definition, they made a dumb skintone mistake and didn't fix it and maybe She ra's hair Is always blonde cuz magic?
@@RosaDiaz-cl9yr But most of the characters in She ra are either poc or monsters. And no what they did with Mara wasn't a mistake, she's most likely an afterthought and they changed her skin color at the last minute for diversity points without thinking of the implications. They're obviously backpedaling. Why else would they shit talk about her through out season two and earlier here? Mara's basically this show's Bliss
@@Saltedroastedcaramel in white saviors stories the fact that the protagonist Is white is relevant because they usually save non white people from a system of race opression or internal struggles within the group, the horde Is gonna fuck up all the world (whites included) and one gives a shit that adora is white, proving that Is so common it holds no relevance, even if mara were also a blonde white girl. It's a chosen one story not a white savior one. Also it was so obvious that Mara wasn't bad and that ligth hope was witholding information, like duh, its the oldest trope in the book to make the heroes say "oh shit, we were wrong, guess that's why you can't always trust all you hear" it was deliberate, not some race issue.
Glimmer: "Do you know what the last Thing was that I said to my Mother, before we got ready to break out Shadow Weaver and teleport to the Fright Zone? I called her a Coward.😠 I was such a crap Daughter!😫😭" Adora: "That is the Problem with Good bye's. You never know if it might be your last one." This was such a strange Finale. It was certainly better then what we got last Season, but still! There are so many questions! Why can only Catra come back as a Quantum Zombie? Has it to fo with Willpower? Then why didn't Hordak or Weaver return? Does it only work on People that She-Ra has a Connection to? Then why didn't Glimmer and Bow come back? Why does Micah have such long eyelashes? It makes him look weirdly feminine. Who writes "Mara" everywhere? Madam Razz? Adoras Subconscious? And...why does Madam Razz even calls Adora Mara? At first I thought it was because that's how Mara looked when she was younger, but that is obviously not the case. Poor Queen Angella.😔 She never got enough Screentime or Development to make her Sacrifice really meaningful (if it sticks, that is). Sure, she was passive during the entire Show and did little to fight back against the Horde, but I still would take her over her Daughter. Are you Girls sure you want to review the Swiftwind Shorts? Scientists are still not sure what Effect so much Exposure to the Adventures of Swifty the Wonderhorse has on the human Brain. I am sure it would be much safer to just read a bit in the Necronomicon.
More and more, this series becomes a great example of how _not_ to write a series. "Foreshadowing? What's that? Continuity? Nobody cares about continuity! Character's growing by learning from their mistakes? Please, that's just silly! Our characters are always right even when, objectively, what they're doing is wrong, and if anyone thinks otherwise, we'll just write the script to present the characters are somehow validated for their actions! Consistency? That's too much work! And we don't need to worry about a logical progression of cause and effect, either! No, no, no, what our show is going to be all about is _representation._ The most important thing for a story to have is a checklist of characters who meet specific superficial criteria in order to appease people who probably aren't going to watch the show, anyway! And if anyone has a problem with how we represent certain demographics, they're just bigots! And that includes any critics who belong to the demographics w're trying to represent! Yes, as long as we represent, we don't actually have to put any effort into the story." The only good thing about this entire episode was Adora _finally_ punching Catra! That is the _ONLY_ thing that worked for me! If Netflix and Dreamworks have any sensible people left running them, they're drop this show like a hot potato. But, who am I kidding? They're probably renew it for another season and things will only continue to become an even worse wreck of a story.
As fun as it is to mock or examine the missed opportunities of this show, I feel better shows are being held back by Dreamworks coddling the crap out of this one that has had more than enough time to prove it's worth. Also if the show were to end here, the rights might possibly go back to Mattel which could make for the new Kevin Smith animated masters of the universe to have Shera available. I know it's a pipe dream, but you can only review disappointments for so long before it's time for a better or at least new show to have a go at the spotlight. That does bring up one question. Are you by chance going to do a small video discussing the new Netflix masters of the universe mini series that is in the works?
Daniel Bourke There is a new Masters of the Universe with Kevin Smith ? I had no idea I was hiding under a rock. I thought there was just going to be a Masters of the Universe film with Noah Centineo

The whitewashing is easy to explain, it's what happens when you aren't really trying to have diverse characters and lore because you think it's good for inclusivity and writing but because it's good for P.R.
Why most Queen Angella suffer for the mistakes of her hellspawn brat of a daughter? Actually, I think she sacrificed herself just to rid herself of that little brat. Better to be stuck between dimensions than be around Glimmer. Angella, Castaspella, Entrapta, the lizard guy and Kyle are the only likeable characters in this show
All I can think of is that instead of having Swift wind shorts, they should have been Adora shorts about interacting with the queen, missing the horde, etc. That way this season would've been way more sad. And if the mara thing was a mistake they could just take down ep 12, fix it and put it back, nexflit does that all the time, unless mara does become white ( not just blonde) when She turns into She ra which...yikes, I prefer not to bitch before seeing it but I get if some people are upset.
Anyone want a future scene Kyle punches She Ra in the face!? Gender Equality at its finest! And very satisfying. And you know Catra is going to be "redeemed", just like the stupid Diamond Authority from SU. Morality does not exist in shows like SU and She Ra
Ngl, I still don't buy the Diamonds being redeemed. They're not even trying to hide that these are still fascists clung onto their beliefs and if anything, I'm imagining they'd betray Steven the first good chance they get
At the time stamp of about 5:30 when Angela flys away in the actual episode you can see mica snap out of it and scream IM NOT before the void takes him away, I just heard this and saw foreshadowing to the beast island episode
I get the feeling that Mara was an afterthought to be honest. Up until that last moment with her she always appeared transformed as She Ra. It kind of makes sense to not draw her as She Ra the last time you see her because the sword of protection technically doesn't exist in the perfect collapsing universe. It would have been a nice nod to the original series if Mara looked more like the Adora from original She Ra instead of one last diversity design that they hadn't found use for.
Wait. Correct me if I’m wrong, but was this the first episode where Greyskull was mentioned, or was it brought up in the very first episode? Other than that, it’s funny how the last episode tends to have almost all of the same problems the entire series has had through out its run. Mainly in that it’s constantly inconsistent. It fits, oddly enough. Though I’m not sure if having a season 4 is a good idea. Sure, they could continue the story, but I feel like that would lead into making Hordack even less intimidating than he is now. And as for that Mara post. I feel like there was a miscommunication, or no communication at all, when it came to her design. That’s what she was drawn and it was too late to fix it. And the person responding about it was just trying to make excuses. Wouldn’t be the first time really. Anyway, I followed you two because I wanted to know if this “reboot” was worth watching since I was getting into Masters of the Universe. And while this technically isn’t the end, I want to say thank you for your videos, its helped me be more critical of what I watch now, and for that I’m grateful
They weirdly enough have the healthiest relationship in this show. They don't seem to manipulate each other, physical hurt or mock, or show any real reason not to trust the other. Sure Hordak got angry but compared to what he did to the former force captains, I feel like he was holding back. It's saying alot when your neutral evil warlord and chaotic neutral 'autistic' character are a better unit than your so called "hero trio".
@@fandude666 evil or neutral, they are both "villains." This is part of what makes this couple appealing, among other thigs..you begin to hope they learn their lesson and turn around.
@@xenon333 Honestly I really don't like this show, but these two are designed decently enough and their moments are kind of adorable. They're that odd couple who actually work together due to their common interest and respect for each other's talents.
I don't think that Catra, after that episode, deserves that rendemption that lots of people (specially Catradora fans) want. I mean, she even bertrayed Entrapta by not listening to her and she has a thirst of revenge against Adora. "But the Princess Rebel book". I know that Adora said that she misses Catra there, but still, what I've said, I don't think that Catra deserves to be with Adora. In fact, if the show ends up not making the Catradora ship endgame, I'm sure that lots of them will harrass and even threaten the people who work at the show for not making Catradora canon, just like what happened with other fandoms, like Steven Universe and the Voltron reboot after the penultimate season. That's it, I just wanted to get it out of my body, since I'm neither a big fan of Catra nor a fan of the Catradora ship, even through I like the show.
She-Ra (and Tumblr/Twitter fans) are fucking retarded and toxic. They were literally sending death threats to a middle eastern girl (who they thought was a "typical white male") for fan art redesigns from a shot scene of reboot She-Ra whilst also trying to justify themselves for it. That shit sickens me (a black guy by the way)
@@Saltedroastedcaramel And let's not even talk about the controversy that has surfaced about the ship, like that people say that the ship "is incest" because they're sisters. As if there aren't any more reasons to criticise the Catradora ship and its worshippers.
@@youknowyoufuckedupright3058 I saw the fanart, and while there were some legitimate criticism about it, I agree in the fact that some people went overboard against the artist for making that fanart. If they just ignored it, maybe the people who liked that art wouldn't start a hashtag to support that artist.
@@LexLight1 not to mention the fact that fan art looks 10x's better than the original. Aside from the pointed chins and lack of bone structure and density in the faces it looks pretty decent. Shows how fucking simple minded She-Ra fans are.
I have my own ideas on how to make this finale at the very least more exciting, though it does requires plenty of set up to pull off. In my version, sometime after the Horde lost the Sword of Protection, Entrapta lets Catra know that she's been developing her own version of the Sword of Protection, based on the research she's done when they they had it in their possession. However, it's very clear that it won't be finished for some time. This acts as setup for Catra getting her own Sword of Protection later on. Early on in season 2, Entrapta shows off the prototype version of the Sword to Catra. To play off how the Horde has a more technological aesthetic, the Sword kind of resembles Sol's Junkyard Dog from Guilty Gear. Entrapta explains that (in theory) it would allow its user to transform like She Ra, which excites Catra. Catra then takes the Sword to practice with it in the training room. Initially, she doesn't attempt at any transformation at first, but when she fights a She Ra hologram, it triggers something in her mind. This forcibly causes her to transform into a larger were-panther form and quickly loses control of herself. Thankfully, Scorpia, Entrapta, and Catra's team managed to disarm her before she successfully breaks out of the room. As a result of this, Entrapta takes the Sword away and tells Catra that despite all the data she gathered from this incident, it definitely needs more time in the oven. At some point in episode 6, Entrapta tells Catra that the disk they got from the previous episode contains information on First One's weaponry, which is speeding up the development of the prototype Sword. According to what she was able to decipher, it said something about using a runestone as its powersource, which lucky for them, they have one in possession.
When Scorpia meets up with Catra in the Crimson Waste in season 3, she is carrying a large case with her. Catra quickly deduces that it must be the finished Sword inside. The case even came with a note stating that if she transforms again, she should have full control of herself. This comes in handy when she fights Tongue Lasher, though she doesn't transform in the fight. When the Sword gets revealed, it now resembles something like Sol's Firebrand (again, from Guilty Gear). However, when she finds Adora and co inside the ship, Catra has her gang tranq everyone but Adora so that she can fight her. Naturally, Adora transforms into She Ra while Catra transforms into her were-panther form. Because Adora refuses to go all out against her, Catra quickly defeats her. At the end of episode 4, just before Catra activates the portal, Adora manages to free herself and lounges after her, only to be caught in the bright light along with Catra.
Episode 5 more or less plays out the same, but at the end Adora interprets Madam Razz's message as "go back to where you found the Sword of Protection." She goes there and instead of finding the Sword, it's just an empty spot. The wave of light is rapidly following her, so she runs along a path that takes her inside the First One's temple. There she finds Mara which shocks her. Mara explains that she isn't actually "here" but instead it's her lingering will that was left behind after she decided to send Etheria away into another dimension. When Adora questions what made her choose her friends over her duty as She Ra, Mara tells her that if she choose her duty, she would have left the planet to stop Horde Prime's satellite gun from destroying Etheria. It didn't help that if she didn't get to the super weapon in time, Light Hope would have used her own superweapon to shoot it out of the sky. This wouldn't be so bad if the recoil from the weapon didn't potentially crack part of the planet. That's not even getting into how the rubble from Horde Prime's weapon could rain down and wreck the planet like a planet-ending meteor shower. Mara could have got to the weapon in time, but her friends were locked in a completely unwinnable battle where they would die for sure. Deciding that her friends were more important than her duty, she rushes off to save her friends. As a result, the satellite gun is almost ready to fire, which at that point it's too late for Mara to stop it. However, Mara thought ahead and prepared a device to save Etheria from these kinds of attacks as a last resort. Utilizing First One's tech, the device would send the Etheria on a one way trip to an alternate dimension (the two-way functionality wasn't finished at the time). It works, but it released some kind of energy that completely destroys Mara's physical form before it made the jump, making it impossible to reunite with the friends she just saved. With tears in her eyes, Adora finally understands the reasoning behind Mara's actions. Mara then tells her when a situation like this inevitably arrives, she must find some way to follow her duty and save the ones she loves the most. With this, Mara feels relieved and fades away, her message to the next She Ra has been sent.
Soon after, Catra finds her inside the temple and fights her. Still reeling from Mara's revelation, Adora takes Catra's punches as Catra herself insults her. Adora soon snaps out of it, tells Catra off, and punches her in the face, much like how it was in the episode proper. With full resolve on fighting Catra, Adora focuses and the Sword of Protection teleports to her (this Sword of Protection is just a construct). Catra does the same with her sword, they both transform, and get into a huge sword fight. As they are battling, the setting continuously changes to every place where they fought each other throughout the entire series. Ending in the village in Season 1 Episode 2, She Ra equips her Golden Armor form while Catra forcibly causes the dimensional corruption to fully cover her, causing her body to glow with energy. She Ra and Catra takes one last swing at each other with She Ra winning the duel. This in turn ends the dream world and sends both of them out. The rest of the episode plays out the same in the original, but not only Angela is alive, there is left over time in the episode to wrap things up to feel like a mid season finale. I hope everyone who read my take enjoyed it. If any of you have any criticisms, please leave a comment. FYI, I have yet to come up with a name for Catra's sword.
If we get another season, we better see other Princesses, I really want to see Peekablue and Sweet Bee. For some reason the fight between Adora and Catra reminded me of the final fight in Kingdom Hearts 3 for some reason
The whole series is a misstep.😒 1. Its either glimmers fault. 2. Its catra's fault. 3. Its mara's fault, how? 4. Pour shipping. 5. Keep the continuity. It would be a good series if they made it more for storytelling & less skinversity & lgbtqing characters. 😑
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE... well relatively... mjtanner you still have 13 She-Ra episode reviews to do!!! Apparently season 4 is coming November 5!!! Now we have a non-binary elfin Horde member! Double Trouble! (Who was a member of the rebellion and Glimmer’s female cousin in the original but whatever I guess) And, Glimmer gets a Captain Marvel haircut. Joy?
Since they can change reality, can't they make the whole show a dream or Bow's weird D&D fantasy?🙂 The post on Mara made no sense. I think that was a way to cover themselves from the obvious and reinforces there really is no plan, just write what feels good. If there is a 4th season I think it will be on Peacock(NBC's upcoming streaming service).
There is one thing I want to say about all of this leading up to this episode; it was pretty clear in the original that Catra was SHe-Ra's greatest rival outside of Hordak himself but even in those older episodes I noticed how it was balanced out. Catra was the head rival but we still got a lot of great moments from the rest of the baddie team so it didn't feel like everyone else was just baggage. That's why Catra is TOLERABLE, dare I saw, wonderfully likeable and catty in the original as opposed to however the fuck she is portrayed here. And it just came to me that the relationship between Adora and Catra keep flip flopping on what the producers claim it is vs what the show is telling us. The producers are (irresponsibly and obnoxiously) enabling the crazed shippers to ship Catra and Adora. Putting AGE aside, the show more often then not tries to portray the two as SISTERS more than lovers and it came out kind of clear in this. Catra doesn't show that type of obsession over Adora to be in love with her but rather as someone who wants her only FAMILY back (ie, a SISTER) and Adora shows pretty much the same given she has shown no type of attraction or adoration to Catra but rather a lose friendship at best. So in the end, we can say that Catra is going nuts over the idea of losing her sister or friend, not a lover. Having said all of this however, why is this even the meat of the series at all? When you remove all of this melodrama, there has been little to nothing at all going on in the GREEEEEEEEAT Rebellion at al, to the point I've forgotten it was even taken place since more of the issues in the series comes from Catra wanting Adora back at any cost. This makes the whole thing feel like all of this is happening in order for Catra to get Adora back and the Hoard aren't as powerful as they seem. There's also just how little it means for everyone else involved, including the other Princesses as well. They promoted the hell out of this to be like some diversity round table of all these Princesses but again, up until this episode they have never played any big role in anything and let's not forget that Spinerella and Netossa are once again MIA. What's the point about the whole thing being so important to the Princesses when the only characters who do anything are Adora, Glimmer, and Bow and they're fucking atrocious to follow around? And let's put the final bow on this by mention how Angela was treated up until this point. Mommy issues or some other shit, this was bad. Of all the characters in the show, Angela got it the worst because she was forced into a role that did her no favors despite being the most developed of the show and yes, I say that even compared to Catra and here's why. Catra is only 'developed' as much because she's the most FEATURED in the show but that doesn't mean she's the most developed or the most complex. She's not complex at all; she's a shitty little asshole who needs to be slapped and given how *SUPPOSEDLY* awful the Hoard are, Catra would have been sent to the gulags years ago if not experimented on and just left as some pile of blubbering mutation waste. Angela however has a bit more known to her in terms of her family and so on yet she's being painted in the wrong. Maybe she is being overprotective but she has ever right to be when she is the lone ruler of a massive kingdom with a horrible daughter. She already lost her husband, her sister-in-law is a complete joke so she has every right and room to worry but also to be a little forward. They are in a war and as the most powerful person in the kingdom, its her RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that people are safe. What does Noelle expect or want the viewers to expect her to do instead? If Noelle wanted to blow out some steam on abusive parents, why not show that in some kids in the villages? Some more members of the Hoard being abusive to their wards? She had ample time to set something like this up instead of wasting it on a character who doesn't deserve this kind of hate. And what the fuck was up with Glimmer's reaction? If I were told my mother had just up and 'disappeared' I would be a MESS because it's my fucking MOTHER. You don't mourn someone in a little tear circle like that, specifically in the middle of war so to me that just show even more how emotionless these characters are. They aren't 'traumatized' by anything. They're shittily written characters written by shitty people. As with the entire series, I don't hold any expectations and the show is just BAD. There is no dancing around it. The show just fucking sucks, end of story. EDIT: And one final note about the whole race bending thing. The fucking knew. They fucking knew about it. Don't for a second fall for their pity 'We didn't realize this in context!!' blah blah blah bullshit. She-Ra is an outlet to insert themselves and their ideas into a property they don't own but to 'improve' it not for any mistakes but just to make it more 'acceptable'. Everything in this series is self-insert wanking from home and back which again is one of the reason why this show isn't enjoyable on a broader spectrum since everything is tailor made to satisfy only a few people while at the same time demanding that EVERYONE find this shit to be the best shit ever. So they knew what they were doing with Mara and the design, or else they would have to admit they can't design worth shit at all. I've seen enough of people like this making excuses and throwing around every cheap buzzword imaginable to cover up their own shit and it's not worth a dime.
@@Saltedroastedcaramel The only reason they consider it nuanced is because they think that anything that is brooding is 'smart and mature' when it's not. In this show's case it's boring and shallow.
@@SuperCosmicMutantSquid It is especially on the shallow part. One person said that it's nuanced because no one is evil. Like Hordak doesn't want to be evil, the horde soldiers were brainwashed as children, Kyle wants to leave yada yada. The problem here is that the show doesn't go further into these elements with the exception of Hordak. The show just plain completely kicked Kyle in the balls and told him to fuck off with that wimp shit. And let's not get started how drawing she ra as a feminine woman is "not needed" for a kid show (Total bullshit and hypocrisy on that) but not acknowledging the show obsession with Bo's abs and the Catra's as well as Scorpia's harassment problem that could get male characters in trouble
@@Saltedroastedcaramel Making no one evil doesn't make it nuanced, especially when the show keeps pushing how mature it is for 'handling war' which it never really does. That's the whole problem with the series; it claims to cover so many topics for a mature setting but when you sit down and look at it, it never handles ANYTHING. And how can they say that no one is 'evil' when we have Catra becoming the central antagonist who is indeed evil, along with Shadow Weaver who I don't know what the fuck they're trying to go for now. Consider this; from how they're handled Hordak, I know they're trying to get a more sympathetic villain from since they slapped on the 'I'm a messed up clone, I'm imperfect, pity me' shit shows like this always do but with Shadow Weaver? Are they going to try to have her turn as well considering SOME of the backstory from her past, including the OG series and comics? Okay....this has been a terrible lead up to that but given how the rest of the show goes I guess we should not be surprised at all. In the end, this is what makes this reboot fail; it's trying so hard to PRETEND to be everything that it can't be itself. It has to pretend to be deep, it has to pretend to mature, it has to pretend to be funny, it has to pretend to be everything but once you see it for yourself it has nothing that it can stand on on its own and that's what makes it *BORING*.
Dang dude. I don’t like this show but ya made me think: LITERALLY NOTHING HAPPENS OUTSIDE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS. I’m not even joking. Take away the main characters and the world is at a standstill. A good game on abuse and war is the earthbound series, specifically mother 3. There’s a fantastic theme of the cycle of abuse, carrying the hurt in a domino effect throughout all three games. In japan the name of the series is literally mother because of the effects parents, specifically mothers, have on their kids. The moms have a big part in the plot haha
Bow doesn't even have abs to speak of in the Netflix reboot, so why do they even bother to bring attention to that? Hell, they don't even bother to draw a navel on him, which in animation typically means adding a dot.
Honestly the people working on this show probably don't even have a script. They just make stuff as they go along judging by the whole whitewashing Mara thing. Her design was probably a secondary thought. Let's be real here, there is no effort or actual care being put in this show, it's just a bunch of superficial, poorly written, mary sue fanfic that a bunch of tumblr weirdos made into a show...yeah, this is gonna get cancelled now that Netflix is losing so much money. Edit: if anyone is interested in a good, fun, professionally made show with actual characters and writing. I recommend Amphibia. It's a new show that's tons of fun and great to watch ^_^!
Oh yeah Amphibia is fun. I just got through binging a show called Heartcatch Precure that is really good imo. You've got a lead voiced by a very good VA who is shy and introverted and meets a hyperactive girl who feels like she's in her older sister's shadow. Her older sister is a well-known model making the hyperactive girl, Erika, feel inferior. She's also the first MotW. Another character wants to do her own things but she's dedicated to taking over the dojo in her brother's place, even going so far as to dress more boyish. The last member had her fairy partner die, her dad is missing and she initially doesn't have it in her to become a magical girl again as she's still heartbroken over her lost. But honestly, anything is definately better than Nu-Ra no matter how much it's shilled
I disagree about Adora punching Catra. Shadow Weaver's and Catra's archetypes (and associated story arcs) are like fine china vases. Noelle dropped those vases on the floor and then artlessly reassembled them, completely mixing up their pieces. Shadow Weaver is a vile, manipulative schemer whose intentions are almost entirely selfish, and she should never be trusted. Her attempts to connect emotionally should be violently rebuffed (ie: she should get the stuffing beat out of her) and the audience celebrates a thoroughly unlikable character getting her comeuppance. Catra is a lost soul whose love is genuine, but bad luck and warped perspective have led her down a dark path. When she lashes out, the hero (a character type wholly missing from this disaster of a show) reacts as a Christ-like paragon and overwhelms Catra's anger with love and understanding. The audience achieves emotional catharsis at the redemption of the prodigal son. And for further proof that Noelle is a total hack, a child playing with the instruments of an artist, look at the setting of these final episodes. It's a world detached from normal reality, the perfect setting to break rules and allow character development to be physically demonstrated. Compare to any sort of psychic battle or video game final boss where all limits are removed. Noelle is imitating stories with such a climactic setting, and we even get Catra returning from the void through sheer force of will. But like the inept buffoon that she is, Stevenson flubs it from that point on. Adora undergoes no physical change to reflect her resolution, the battle simply turns. Adora should have transformed into She-Ra to turn the tide, demonstrating that She-Ra isn't a job, it's a part of who she is, and that inner-strength is there at all times. This is basic stuff, read enough books, watch enough movies, you just know these things. Hell, monkeys on type-writers probably get this right 60% of the time, and yet Noelle can't even figure it out. Let that sink in. TL;DR: Catra needs a hug, and Weaver needs to get knocked the fuck out.
I just see at oh we will change it no one will notice she was white with blonde hair in everything we showed so we will make her discount korra who was just discount kotarra
Queen Angella: My daughter has always hated me and called me a coward so I'm sacrificing myself. Now please look at my daughter in a better light and not for the hellspawn she is
Sorry, Queenie, Glimmer is still a hellspawn and you deserve so much better. 😜
My Dad Left For Cigarettes you perfectly described Glimmer
Dr. Phil: Angella, you need to take charge in your relationship with your daughter. You have to confront her about her terrible behaviour and put your foot down.
hahahahahahahahahah! Oh, wait, you're serious?! Let me laugh even harder! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
@Neil Brown ha, I don't blame her.
The creators don't seem to understand bringing someone down doesn't make someone else better, that other person is still a terrible person

In a perfect world, Kyle still gets abused. We must save him.
It's okay, there's no way this garbage fire is profitable enough to get renewed. Kyle's suffering is over, he enters the peaceful sleep of the cancelled.
Ok, ngl, it WAS kinda funny at first. But as the abuse continued the crew was just beating a dead horse.
The voice actor is familiar. He played Pit from kid Icarus uprising
Atleast Kyle has great hair
Poor Angella just tried to do the right thing, but her own daughter made her feel horrible every time. Now she went and sacrificed herself. Hope you're happy, Glimmer. Thanks for ridding the rebellion of the one decent leader it had. 🙄 Also Adora punching Catra in the face reminds me of when Hermione punches Draco. Feels kinda good XD
Seeing Catra getting clipped is especially satisfying after how she treated our baby boy Kyle. Even in the "Perfect world," he still gets stepped on. But at least Catra gets her behind handed to her.
Glimmer doesn't deserve a mother like her.
also happy late birthday. ❤
Reminds me of Spinel punching Steven. Honestly if you watched S5 of SU and even care in episodes before, you would understand why that moment was so satisfying.
Happy late birthday and I guess Noelle Stevenson just hates parents.
It really was satisfying. If she'd kept punching Catra it would have been understandable. XD
The only good things I can say about this episode:
1. Adora stood up to Catra and punching her on the cheek
2. Queen Angela's sacrifice
(least important): Glimmer looked cute in that skirt I wish the designers kept it
I Wish they had showed more the mother daughter relationship of Ângela and Adora. It would be great see her with a healthy mother figure instead of just the toxic Shadow Weaver
She is stuck between dimensions, there is a chance that Adora will save her.

Where did you guys find these details about Noelle's family? Did she tell in some video or blog?
This is the kind of projection writers need to stop doing to the characters they are given to write, this franchise is not theirs, and it comes off as very petty, childish, and unprofessional.
Seeing as Angela's whole character can be summed up as "Mom says no to everything.", it makes perfect sense.
Neil Brown What the hell dude??
Neil Brown Child neglect is awful, irregardless on whether or not the child makes a bad show! I thought this was pretty clear.
Now with Glimmer as queen, do not be surprised when Bright Moon catches fire within days and Glimmer just hosts parties while everything goes into chaos. Yet, they still screw over Kyle, he needs to be saved and sent to a better series.

@@jonahtexhex2835 for real?! I saw some of the shorts for EAH, and they were better than that Descendants will ever be.

Honestly seeing catra getting punched in the face is possiblely the greatest thing in this entire series
I was so so HAPPY when this happened :')
Doesn't feel like the same, since Catra will be reedemed even being a complete chernobyl toxic girlfriend with Adora.
Also, Catradora is inspired in Stevenson's wife relationship, so....
That was satisfying 😂
Black Mamba what?? I thought Netossa and Spinerela were based on Stevenson and her wife. But this is a an oof
Revenge for my boy Kyle
Makes the scenes much sweeter 😊
Also, so glad Catra finally got something knocked into her!! Now I don't mind unrepentant villains or sympathic ones, but Catra is the worst of those troops rolled into a furry ball of ship bait and annoyance.
I bothers me how they try to defend or justify the toxic relationships. just stop.
Jen Doe well they honestly only like the show for shipping and Tumblr art
I honestly really enjoy this show, but I cannot stand the support for Catradora, or Catra at this point. I just cannot. It's disgusting. >.
@@ViktoriaMagrey Catradora seems forced to me, but that might just be me. What about you?
M & J, how did you two stay sane after EVERY episode of this? I would have lost my mind!
We have each other for moral support.
mjtanner Your power of sisterhood and friendship triumphs once again over She-Ra !🌟
Oh great . They killed Angela like that and now Glimmer rules brightmoon . I guess the rebellion is lost. Also Catra being punched was the highlight of this episode
The Best Friend Squad don't really feel like friends.
Or even people who care about each other.
Correction, the reason that everything goes wrong is because of Glimmer's arrogance.
Angella:"You want to know a secret...."
Angella: "the truth is Adora...Glimmer was not my first child. 3 years before i gave birth to her i had a baby boy, a beautiful boy, a boy with blond hair and irises as dark as night... @@youknowyoufuckedupright3058 Angella: "I don't know what this Kyle is...but it sounds like it needs a hug."
Being real Miraculous ladybug probably has a better diverse cast than this show.
When you think about it, yeah.
The reason that the diversity in Ladybug is organic is because the writers aren’t focusing on politics, rather they are focusing on a good story.
The one friend Who has no life yeah cuz they know who their audience are kids, teens and adults
Ladybug also has better villains than She Ra.
Kyle is my favorite male character, and Entrapta to me seems pretty cool in design. I hate everyone else.
Seeing Catra punched was the most satisfying thing, especially keeping her abuse of Kyle in mind. Might save it as a loop.
“Not you again” must be talking about bad writing
The one friend Who has no life Everybody says this show is good and progressive but the writing is so boring and shitty.
A Al-Amin the writing makes me sad
The way they designed alt reality Bow just further shows how astonishingly tone deaf they are in regards to sword & sorcery and sci-fi.
Glimmer is queen rip everyone

"Mara" is actually a character that already exists in Masters of the Universe. She is the "Teela" of New Adventures of He-Man. Dreamworks sort of shoe-horned her into She-Ra mythos.

WTF ANGELLA SACRIFICED HERSELF :( she was a good mother and respectable queen and one of the few adult/mature characters. i'm sad that annoying Glimmer always mistreated her and writers will use her death as 'character development' for Glimmer.
This reminds me of the whole Diamond situation from Steven Universe: they also joined the good guys with no real redemption process attached to it.
How joyful -_-
As for the rest of it, Dreamworks actually ordered 52 episodes of this thing before it even began production, so it's probably going to continue. Netflix doesn't produce She-Ra, only distributes it, so they can't really cancel it.
Agreed. Had Angella sacrificed herself to protect her daughter and beloved husband, that would have made sense.
But, we can't have good storytelling, now can we?
we can all safely agree that adora punching catra was very satisfying

I have a feeling next year is going to be a lack of she-ra but near the end will be announcements about new she ra stuff (like a new season, changes to the staff, etc)
So I am going the chill this next year
This show is such a mess.
Well actually the cloned Hordak is said to be defective.
Since this show out right rips-off Avatar:TLA and the producers don't seem to have a clue about continuity, the same look of all of the past She-Ra is not unexpected.
Remember, this is just an expensive, Mary-Sue fanfic, not a professionally produced animated series.
True.
The thumbnail is pretty much my thoughts in a nutshell. The plot holes along with the character regression is too much for me. I only continue to watch for analytical purposes. I am thankful for it introducing me to this channel. So something good came out of it, it gave me these Analytical Sisters.
Unless Glimmer’s dad hauls ass back to Brightmoon to take charge the entire kingdom will be ashes by the end of the week with Glimmer as queen.
1:12 Oh no... That's even worse than Kyle's situation. Really feeling for you, Bow. /s
3:32 I guess her dad was teaching her non-combat spells? Or spells that are more for "getting away" than combat. :\
7:05 So wait, even in this "perfect reality" Entrapta abandons her kingdom? Or is she just helping out?
8:20 Entrapta managed to invent something to escape this fake reality, that's why she's fading away. Or maybe the writers wanted it to be "dramatic" or something.
8:53 Huh... Your theory of "Mara's design wasn't finalized" makes the most sense, but if they intended her to be dark-skinned, they really should've informed the team. Or really kept her hidden in the shadows whenever she appeared. Talk about unfortunate.

All woke people have white savior complexes

@@RosaDiaz-cl9yr But most of the characters in She ra are either poc or monsters. And no what they did with Mara wasn't a mistake, she's most likely an afterthought and they changed her skin color at the last minute for diversity points without thinking of the implications.

Poor Queen Angella.😔
She never got enough Screentime or Development to make her Sacrifice really meaningful (if it sticks, that is).
Yes, as long as we represent, we don't actually have to put any effort into the story."
The only good thing about this entire episode was Adora _finally_ punching Catra!

Daniel Bourke Considering how much I enjoyed Castlevania, this is going to be leagues better than She-Ra
Dude I am SO GLAD that Adora didn't take Catras mess. I used to like Catra and I still kinda do but this season didn't do her any good.
In a perfect world Glimmer is still a mediocre mage?Flawless writing of course.
Fingers crossed that it's a series finale.
They're not even trying to hide that these are still fascists clung onto their beliefs and if anything, I'm imagining they'd betray Steven the first good chance they get
That would be a great twist, but I doubt it will happen.
@@tayojones9460 The new opening suggests at least White Diamond goes crazy so there is something to be on the lookout for.
Catra: *Destroys Reality.*
Satan: "Well, I just wanna say that I'm a huge fan."
Once again a stellar job, M&J! That's your brand now.
At the time stamp of about 5:30 when Angela flys away in the actual episode you can see mica snap out of it and scream IM NOT before the void takes him away, I just heard this and saw foreshadowing to the beast island episode
I've been waiting all week for this
Can we all just agree that glimmer is the worst/most obnoxious character aside from swift wind
How it is that Voltron: Legendary Defender has more diversity in its' cast than this show does?
They treated their characters decently before pandering
I find these reviews very entertaining & it holds those involved accountable for this shamozzle.
Even the majority of the Disney female characters are becoming more and diversed than this show.
Personally, Entrapta&Hordak was the best thing to come out of this season, and seemingly out of nowhere.
I'm honestly surprised that this show hardly has fans bitching about Catadora since that ship has sunk by the end of episode 11.
The whole series is a misstep.😒
1. Its either glimmers fault.
2. Its catra's fault.
3. Its mara's fault, how?
4. Pour shipping.
5. Keep the continuity.
It would be a good series if they made it more for storytelling & less skinversity & lgbtqing characters. 😑
This show was terrible and if it doesnt get a season 4 I'll be thankful.
This type of cartoons shouldn't have our standert of divestiy.
Could someone please rewrite the show to make Kyle not suffer so much and make Bow actually a good person to Kyle
Joy?
Plot twist: Bow's abs were the real heroes all along.
Which abs?
lol
@@linusmota9712 Considering they make reboot Bow's abs so important, probably reboot abs.
H. Stryker Reboot Bow: has the silhouette of a muscular men but has no visible abs
@@linusmota9712 He still has abs though, as in ab muscles. They're... the invisible hero.
Ignoring this season’s flaws, we can all agree it was better than the last 2
Since they can change reality, can't they make the whole show a dream or Bow's weird D&D fantasy?🙂
The post on Mara made no sense.
So what's your thoughts about people saying this show has nuance unlike the original?
I think they just brownwashed their original idea, probably because someone complained, then used excuses to cover up the retcon without admitting it.
Doesn’t anyone working on this show have a timeline set up? It’s like nothing matters.
Can both Catra and Shadow Weaver get knocked the fuck out though?
I just see at oh we will change it no one will notice she was white with blonde hair in everything we showed so we will make her discount korra who was just discount kotarra
