An unfortunate incident but an interesting failure from my perspective. I'd be interested to see close up photographs of the fracture surfaces if you ever have the time. It sounds as good as ever now you have repaired it. Best wishes, Dean.
Yes all up and running now, did 20 mile round trip today and no problem. My dad was a motor mechanic all his working life and had never come across a broken rocker so must be a rare event
hi Ian sorry to see that but hopefully sorted now, its just a thought but one reason that can happen is coil bound spring I have seen it but very rarely or just a bad rocker casting or fatigued through tappet adjuster working loose but who knows. anyway take care kind regards Adrian.

Tappet adjuster was ok so could have been spring but I'm thinking more likely fatigue on a 50 year old part
