Oh my god......I think they just pulled an Innocent Sin/Eternal Punishment on the SEES team. I didn't think of it until now. Their innocent sins is that they can't stand to see those they love die; but their eternal punishment was to be stuck in a dimension where all time has halted.
Technically Makoto Yuki is sort of alive. His Soul is stuck powering up the Great Seal. Tatsuya Suou from Persona 2 also gets the short end of the stick too thanks to Philemon and Nyarl,with his reward being getting stuck in a parallel dimension where the world is in ruin (The original Tatsuya that is, since the "new" Tatsuya gets to live scot free).
I find it weird/annoying that Reverse Minato can use Panta Rhei, Niflheim, Ragnarok and Thunder Reign with the Reverse Personas, yet none of your party member's personas ever learn those attacks
Trace Doyle I think it might be because minato was show much more powerful than all of them and if you think about it gameplay wise those skills prove that because they can't get them no matter how hard they tried and since this shadow is born from there thoughts of him it's no wonder he'd have those skills just like the original because they might of had envy for those attacks especially because along with his wildcard ability it was one more thing they could never have .
Not weird. Not weird at all! It just goes to show you that Junpei, Yukari and everybody else, all thought individually that each was pretty kickass in their own right. But deep down they were still plagued or inhibited by insecurities stemming from their past experiences before SEES. And then there is Minato Arisato, who had the Wild Card, and his raw power, coupled with his taking on the role NONE of them could, must have made them realize they could never measure up to the kind of person he was until his death. That could have played a factor in ???'s using such advanced techniques that would have taken others more time, training, and finesse to pull off. Their insecurities, attachment and admiration of Minato, _became that monster's form and power._

All the Persona 3's are remakes of the same game. Persona3 on ps2 was first, then Persona 3 FES, which has an expansion of the original story. Persona 3 Portable added a female protagonist story as well as a proper new game+. So yeah.

Man I wish that cutscene of the protagonist dissolving didn't exist, it's so heartbreaking especially after the ending of the journey, where we can see him smiling in the end after everyone reaches the rooftop.
Well while Shadow Minato still dissolves in Reload, it's nowhere near as disturbing. In fact, if you actually put aside the fact he's dying it's actually quite beautiful.

I'm probably part of the minority but I've always enjoyed Persona 3 as a whole better than Persona 4...just story, character/ persona design and pretty much every other aspect...I like the darker theme; Persona 4 was too slow and sappy
ok the main theme of P4 was the power of friendship and not dealing with things on your own and bonds...seems really sappy and childish imo. P3 was more dark and the main character dies in the end. The supporting characters actually had dark back stories and had reasons for being the way they were...not just weird or messed up high schoolers who had a hard time dealing with life. Plus P4 dragged on if you beat the dungeon early...the story stalled too many times for my liking.

Ryan Nelson Pretty much every Persona game has the characters going through a collective subconscious of humanity's thoughts. P5 actually doesn't have many original elements to it besides the heart changing. People manifesting as shadows in a cognitive world, shadows being personas, negotiating with shadows, pretty much everything has been pre-established in earlier titles.
Well, I'm aware that most of it's re-used (I did play both 3 and 4 -- so I've seen the TV world, people's Shadows, etc. -- and I have some base knowledge of the first two games minus the negotiation) but the Abyss seemed like almost a one-to-one comparison. It was just a thought I had.
P1 was basically Maki's palace P2 was Nyarlathotep's (i.e. everyones, sort of like the Mementos fusion except Nyarlathotep is less controlling than Yaldabaoth. But he's also more sadistic than Yaldabaoth) P3 actually features Erebus's palace, in his attempt to reach Nyx. Tartarus, The Dark Hour, and the Arbiter were necessary to bridge the gap between humans and Nyx. Once this became impossible, they disappeared. The Abyss of Time was originally just a byproduct of Tartarus, but it became a palace for the SEES team, longing for the past. This tendency is a part of Erebus though, which is why they realized they should fight it. P4 was Izanami's but she was born less from a desire for death and more from the desire for an afterlife.

@Gabriel Pereira Exactly. in P3 you kind of get it from the story part where Mitsuru meet back with her father (where they also meet Aigis) and also from additional clues from Hichutski or something...like if they are a by-product of the opening of the 'dark hour'. So the gamer and SEES assomption is kind of reasonable in this light. (or should i say 'in this dark') ;)
I remember almost finishing this fight in one go. Last 10%. Akihiko gets charmed. He uses Diarahan. Door-kun switches to Athena. Double crits me with a phys move.
No one seems to like The Answer anymore, but if P3 gets a rerelease this year because of the anniversary, I hope that the members of S.E.E.S. get invited to the third tier persona club. Which would make the most sense in The Answer, to give a better sense of progression.

Almir Yandi Ameno Sagiri... please tell me you know about the True / Izanami Ending D: Btw, it's actually a power difference. Ameno is a God's Facet strong but not invincible. Nyx ,instead, is Death. Not a godess of death, she IS Death. There's no way to kill her. Also, P3 is the second time Nyx has been fought, the first one was Persona 1 during the Snow Queen Quest. The stronger P1 party managed to defeat her 'cause Nyx wasn't in full strenght , hiwever she just became dormant again claiming that she'll come back, leading to P3. The Great Seal definitely locks her so as long the seal remains she won't comeback, no matter how much strong she is and Makoto has the Universe Arcana power so he's the most powerful thing in the whole universe
Man. Imagine still deeply grieving for your dead friend, then having to fight a shadow version of him and _then_ having to watch that clone quite literally unravel in front of your eyes in a very gorey fashion... That's rough, buddy.

Man I wish that cutscene of the protagonist dissolving didn't exist, it's so heartbreaking especially after the ending of the journey, where we can see him smiling in the end after everyone reaches the rooftop.
Well while Shadow Minato still dissolves in Reload, it's nowhere near as disturbing. In fact, if you actually put aside the fact he's dying it's actually quite beautiful.
If you see aigis' dream, at the end of it you can see Metis forming as a shadow!

I'm probably part of the minority but I've always enjoyed Persona 3 as a whole better than Persona 4...just story, character/ persona design and pretty much every other aspect...I like the darker theme; Persona 4 was too slow and sappy

ok the main theme of P4 was the power of friendship and not dealing with things on your own and bonds...seems really sappy and childish imo. P3 was more dark and the main character dies in the end. The supporting characters actually had dark back stories and had reasons for being the way they were...not just weird or messed up high schoolers who had a hard time dealing with life. Plus P4 dragged on if you beat the dungeon early...the story stalled too many times for my liking.

Ryan Nelson Pretty much every Persona game has the characters going through a collective subconscious of humanity's thoughts. P5 actually doesn't have many original elements to it besides the heart changing. People manifesting as shadows in a cognitive world, shadows being personas, negotiating with shadows, pretty much everything has been pre-established in earlier titles.
Well, I'm aware that most of it's re-used (I did play both 3 and 4 -- so I've seen the TV world, people's Shadows, etc. -- and I have some base knowledge of the first two games minus the negotiation) but the Abyss seemed like almost a one-to-one comparison. It was just a thought I had.
P1 was basically Maki's palace
P2 was Nyarlathotep's (i.e. everyones, sort of like the Mementos fusion except Nyarlathotep is less controlling than Yaldabaoth. But he's also more sadistic than Yaldabaoth)
P3 actually features Erebus's palace, in his attempt to reach Nyx. Tartarus, The Dark Hour, and the Arbiter were necessary to bridge the gap between humans and Nyx. Once this became impossible, they disappeared.
The Abyss of Time was originally just a byproduct of Tartarus, but it became a palace for the SEES team, longing for the past. This tendency is a part of Erebus though, which is why they realized they should fight it.
P4 was Izanami's but she was born less from a desire for death and more from the desire for an afterlife.

Yes, but i felt strange about this... it is like he knows she can heal herself anyway... so was he really trying to kill her or was he able to 'screw up' his own shadow through his love of his entire team and so, sabotage it to attack Yukari knowing she can sustain his charge? This is the when you realize this game goes beyond the programming... truly amazing in my book...

@Gabriel Pereira Exactly. in P3 you kind of get it from the story part where Mitsuru meet back with her father (where they also meet Aigis) and also from additional clues from Hichutski or something...like if they are a by-product of the opening of the 'dark hour'. So the gamer and SEES assomption is kind of reasonable in this light. (or should i say 'in this dark') ;)
So weird. It's an obvious fact in p4 and you can figure it out easily in p5 but in p3 shadows are treated like aliens in a way

Btw, it's actually a power difference. Ameno is a God's Facet strong but not invincible. Nyx ,instead, is Death. Not a godess of death, she IS Death. There's no way to kill her. Also, P3 is the second time Nyx has been fought, the first one was Persona 1 during the Snow Queen Quest. The stronger P1 party managed to defeat her 'cause Nyx wasn't in full strenght , hiwever she just became dormant again claiming that she'll come back, leading to P3. The Great Seal definitely locks her so as long the seal remains she won't comeback, no matter how much strong she is and Makoto has the Universe Arcana power so he's the most powerful thing in the whole universe
