I knew they were gonna' tone down and soften the animated cutscene's graphic depiction and intensity... Reload may have higher quality cutscenes but I really liked the art style and direction of the original... P3R just feels like Persona 5 wearing a P3 mask and not like actually P3.

I'd like the abstract animation of the shadow dissolving like the OG, but I think having Aigis reaching out to him and the somber silent everyone have make the scene more emotional and emphasize that their deepest desire of seeing the protagonist again fully realized.

As much as I see the changes on the expansion compare to the original are kinda fine and all. I do also understand why people are upset about it, since those scenes are kinda iconic especially the scene where ??? Melts to the point of it's skeleton being seen onscreen.
The original scene had a very clear intent: it's literally Makoto's corpse being animated by their grief melting away. It being a general anime moment instead is a direct downgrade in every sense
"Fatlus" is protecting "young mans" from psychological trauma nowadays. We should cherish our memories of the old cutscene and be glad that we got to experience it, since with modern "snowflake" state world, they'll won't have the balls to do something similar ever again.
