There are few things more powerful than a mother who has found her strength in the love of her child. Diana was a quiet, meek and obedient wife. When she became a mother, the love of her children grew her into something fierce, strong, compassionate and wise. Love transforms like that. It humanizes. It brings us back to ourselves. I love how they focus on Charles rather than Diana at the end of that scene. We can hear how passionately Diana feels so we don't have to see her expression. It's interesting how they focus on Charles, who we can see then isn't coming across as annoyed or angry but rather...sad. A woman who does not have husband's love, has only her children to look to. Not surprised she brought her child, just surprised she agreed to accompany her husband. Should have rather stayed home with child than argue this
As the Princess and future Queen, she had commitments she couldn't break, and she knew that. That is why William was brought along. Because in real life, she knew she couldn't just stay home. She was absolutely right, her greatest service to the crown was to raise William to be a benevolent king. I think she achieved it, the Prince of Wales is going to make an excellent king.
Honestly, I feel for the royal secretary, Edward Adeane, in this scene. He had to change plans that had been made for decades in a matter of weeks because it was made clear to him last-minute that the Princess of Wales would not travel without her son. He worked very hard to find a place and nannies to care for the child the first two weeks and somehow was able to incorporate him into the last four strictly scheduled weeks and now he's been judged for his toughened job and blamed for not understanding because he is not a parent himself, which I find a very personal offence and a low blow.
The fact is Diana has neither power nor influence to fire him. He was Charles's staff, and Charles did not love Diana. Charles seemed to work well with this courtier, even continuing discussions about the schedule after Diana was done with her hissy fit.

All these years later and she is still an amazingly strong example for a lot of women out there, what she was subjected to and overcame is such a testament to who she was, what an amazing young woman, she didn’t deserve the life she was dealt, but no one ever will hold a candle to how princess Diana handled and overcame the life she was given.. She is a TRUE ROYAL n every since of the word, she truly deserved every happiness 🤍
This scene seemed like the only scene where Charles might have respected Diana. He has a bit of appreciation for her fighting for William in a way his mother never fought for him.
From my understanding, there was. Having the First and Second in Line to the throne on the same plane requires special approval from the Queen to allow each time it happens. The worry being that if there is a crash, that they would lose both. It's the same reason William has to get approval from the Queen to travel with George, et. al.
As a reminder Diana was only 20 when she became a mother, she was that young and making choices for the well being of her children that the Royal family hadnt questioned for centuries, because they never raised their kids all that much Elizabeth and Margaret got lucky that their father wasnt King when they were born or they would have turned out much worse

The worry being that if there is a crash, that they would lose both. It's the same reason William has to get approval from the Queen to travel with George, et. al.
yes but this scene was about behind the scenes logistically.
Gray Mid also, this was considered by the Firm yet another rebellious move by Diana to buck protocol.
As a reminder Diana was only 20 when she became a mother, she was that young and making choices for the well being of her children that the Royal family hadnt questioned for centuries, because they never raised their kids all that much
Elizabeth and Margaret got lucky that their father wasnt King when they were born or they would have turned out much worse
YESSSSSSSSSS GAWD DIANA "HE'S PERFECT IN EVERY WAY" THATS HOW EVERY GOOD LOVING MOTHER SEES THEIR CHILD! REST IN PARADISE DIANA! YOU WILL ALWAYS BE THE SUPREME QUEEN OF OUR HEARTS💜💜💜💜
whats so wonderful about her seeing the baby as perfect? Most mothers feel like that about thier kids.
Nobody: ......
Charles: ......
Me after Diana complete her monologue : 😯😯👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😀
William is perfect. Perfect at been the person his family needs him to be. A nice person as a public person. Best dad a child would want in private
If Charles hadn't messed up, the royal family would have had a great mother, great wife , nice grandmother and a beautiful and wonderful Princess
It was never going to work. They were two very different people and this was the first generation where both genders didn't have to put up and shut up iof things weren't going well in a marriage. The people who messed up are the ones who arranged the marriage.
It's crazy how much a haircut can affect a persons beauty. Emma Corrin looks gorgeous as Diana, a total deviation from how she really looks.
I couldn't stay with that man even a minute! He's horrible!!
I cry for all the babies that do not have that. Bless her.
If Charles had only had a mother like Diana, he might have been human today.
He is not human to you? Wood you think?
Diana was a great mother to her kids shame she never got to seem them grow up and have kids of their own RIP
It's amazing how much josh o connor can express such wide range of emotions only with his eyes. His eyes speak volumes. I've noticed this in many scenes like in this scene and that scene where he's holding back tears on his wedding day and the night before the wedding when the queen goes to lecture him about the duty bullshit..
I read his face as guilt and shame for not telling off that guy for talking to his wife that way.
I did think that the actor they cast for Charles was too handsome. But nevertheless he did a great job in portraying him.
Diana bringing her kid to Australia and New Zealand changed royal tours forever.
Diana was such a great mother❤️
And thats why the boys love her so much... to her children.. she will do anything.. i think the best thing that come into her marriage is both of her son.. so cruel they taken away their mother forever
Could it be possible that maybe Charles was jealous of the way Diana cared for Prince William, maybe even building up resentment because Prince William was getting more love and affection than he did as a child??
I don't think he ever loves her
Diana’s argument about raising the future king:
It was at this moment he knew he screwed up.
Nobody in that family deserved her. She was an Angel.
A husband should never let another man speak to his wife that way.
UghHHH look at this Emmy worthy scene 🤩🤩🤩🤩
This is so strange. I'm not married and have no children, and I know I'd burst with joy if my wife ever talked like that about my children.
i loved this scene so much , her confidence was outstanding
Don’t fuck with mummy bear!......I can totally see this as something that actually happened. She was fed up.....
Despite William and Harry's understandable resistance im sure to ever watch this series let alone this season, I think out of everything, William would be proud of this scene. It encompassed a mothers love, his mothers love to no end beautifully and exactly how Diana would've portrayed it.
OBSESSED with the camera work in this scene. Love showing only Charles for half her speech. It really brings to life how alone he's felt all his life when he's clearly more of a burden to his mother than the other children and how jealous he is that a mother in this life would and could actually put their child first.
Sounds like Tomy Lascelles huh🙄
He is Michael Adeane’s son. Michael was the bald one Philip hated and the one Elizabeth wanted to replace with her own choice.
@@therenegade916 😃 Oh I see....I remember Adeane. Thanks for the info.
And the actor who plays Edward Adeane is Richard Goulding who plays as Prince Harry in The Windsors
@@GRaPHMiCHaEL23 🙂
At the end of it all, she is a mother and adored both her children with every bit of her.
