  • How to adjust the clutch on a motorcycle? Clutch engagement adjustment? Clutch bite point? Clutch plate problems? Clutch friction zone? Torque transmissions through clutch?
    Riders do complain about problems in gear shift and clutch plate life where premature wear and tear of the clutch can be due to improper clutch free play. In this video we have the Bajaj Bajaj Dominar 400 and TVS Apache RTR 200 where we adjust the clutch free play on the Dominar 400 which has got a slipper clutch. A rightly adjusted clutch will help the rider to judge the clutch engagement zone properly with will eventually help with better gear shifts.

    I recently adjusted clutch free play on my Gixxer SF, made a slight adjustment not much but the difference in gear shifts was exponentially better.
    Gear shifts are smoother than before.

    • @thesportztourer
      @thesportztourer  4 роки тому +3

      As said in the video the adjustment does helps with gear shifts. The Gixxer already has a nice shifting gearbox which should respond well to minor adjustments.
      Thanks for updating here 😊

      @@vijo007 I increased the free play slightly.
      It was done on trial and error basis.
      First checked with no play, then started increasing the play slightly till I found the correct setup.

    • @moinak173
      @moinak173 4 роки тому +1

      @@thesportztourer I feel the difference most of the time more hard on cold, they did something maybe and my kick start is useless now it's free always like it happens on holding clutch but I'm okay with that,
      For me they changed the following parts with 200 parts
      Clutch plate
      Clutch plate assembly
      Primary gear
      Experience is good the first adjustment by the mechanic was best and it was perfectly balanced for smooth gears and also Slipper clutch feel will need to get it adjusted again,
      Also i feel it takes a little longer to gain top speed after 100+ speeds now
      Earlier i went upto 128 now hardly i could take it upto 115 or 118 didn't get that much straight open on Mumbai pune old way...
      My braking confidence has increased now i use down shift to slow down on high speed in case of any obstacles on highway if i feel brake will not stop it and i love the balanced feel now even after downshifting 2 3 gears doesn't loose the straight line like earlier.
      So i am happy with the change just need to get clutch adjusted... I screwed it last time i tried to do it..
      In last video you said it will go boring if you make a adjustment video with all details and all of your knowledge i bet it will be useful for us and thanks for all the awesome videos

      chain has rust or dirt on - clean and lubricate with oil.
      engine performance - remove spark plug - add some octane fuel additive about 2 to 5 mil. wait about 30 minutes. flick engine over one revolution, install spark plug, allow engine to idle 1 minute. switch off engine.
      engine noise increase - lack of oil on bearings push rods

      I have tried both and I prefer adjusting the clutch on a cold/normal temp engine. Some also prefer engaging and disengage the clutch multiple times before starting the adjustment.
      Handle bars should be ideally straight like it should be while riding but honestly it doesn't make much difference as the clutch cable has got enough slack to cause any tension.

    Hello bhai... Apse thoda information chahiye. Recently me apne dominar ka throttle body clean kiya service center me jake. Aur clean karne ke Baad, meri bike ki rpm high Rehne lagi , fir gear change karte Waqt jab me acceleration chodta tha tab rpm jaldi down nahi ho rahi thi, shifting me hardness tha. Fir me ecu update kar liya to almost sahi ho gaya fir mechanic se jake Baat kiya to usne kaha ke abhi throttle fresh clean hua hai thoda time lagega normal hone ke liye kuch kms chalo fir thik ho jayega.
    Abhi almost thik hai, kabhi kabhi rpm ka issue feel karta hun.
    Lekin abhi me aur ek chiz feel kar raha hun, Ke jab meri bike running mode pe hoti he aur me clutch pull karta hun to meri bike ki ek rpm high ho jati hai, aur lagta hai ke bike apne ap chalti hai clutch apply karne ke Baad. Kya clutch adjustment karna padega ya kya karun me. Ye throttle body mene bekar me clean kiya meri bike sahi chal rahi thi, mechanic ne kaha ke 4 yrs ho chuka he throttle body clean kar lete hain aur mene bhi Haan kar diya. Uske Baad vibration feel kar raha hun, aur ye clutch pull karne ke Baad 500 rpm high ho jata hai. Kya ye apne ap thik ho jayega, ya kahin se air zyada Paas ho raha hai carb ke pas, ya kahin air leak ho raha hai throttle ke pas ya clutch cable adjust ya aur throttle cable change karne se hoga thik? Liqui moly will cause seals to swell it should never be used in a new bike, it will also cause the clutch to slip and fail to engage cleanly increasing wear on the clutch in wet clutch engine. matching oil to engine oil seals and wet clutch material is important. changing oil can be considered if you live unique weather climate, imagine you live in the north pole or on where the ambient temperature is always very high then yes engine oil could be changed to more accurately match your conditions, you would see better engine performance lower fuel consumption.
