Just to let you know Donna my grandmother is also a huge advocate for butterflies specifically monarch butterflies. She currently has 82 caterpillars and 13 butterflies in chrysalises

My grandpa just recently passed away, and we would always call him "papa butterfly" for his love and interest in butterflies especially monarchs. So hearing donna's interest in this and educating us on all of this just warms my heart. She talks about it just like my papa used to.

The name of the activist was *Homero Gomez* . He was proud of his work, I mean, he really took care of these butterflies 🦋 He used to say the butterflies were the "girlfriends of the sun". The people of his town admired him and they still do. We all do.

To the lady with the boyfriend who locks himself in his room: My dad had a video game addiction and would lock himself in his office for hours to days at a time we would only see him when he would use the bathroom or get food. It ruined my family and his marriage. They separated and my mom moved three states away taking half my family with her. Ten years later they just signed the divorce this year which was messy. I wouldn’t recommend starting a family with a neglectful person who wont be there for you or your kids… coming from the child of one.
Also coming from a failed marriage/parents, I was the "maybe a baby will fix this mess!" I think women have this tendency to think that in due time and gentle reminders things will straighten out, they will fix their own problem. But we give them too much credit. Honestly if your partner will do it they WOULD. If you guys separate you can always take him back when he does straighten out but you cannot take back the time spent on suffering.

This just shows how much the whole situation from the previous episode was blown out of proportion. These people are family, this behaviour is normal.
Too many people think they know everything about Ethan and love to slander him when he's just a normal guy, who also CLEARLY loves his family.
I agree, to an extent! Like it’s inside humour and a family thing, but to a point where his mum wanted to give up in trying to talk about what she was passionate about, because they kept talking over her, was just goin on for a bit too long! Like, if your family you should know the limit on where to stop or where you can tell if your family member doesn’t find it funny! But this is from an outsiders perspective, so I have no clue! People were really rude though to be fair, towards Ethan and other family members, just say that he was a bit rude and move on!

On my way home today I saw a monarch flying around a very small milkweed plant near the entrance to a rather busy parking lot. Every time a car passed or the wind blew she’d get scared, fly away, and then immediately come back to the same plant, only to get spookmagooked by something else before she could land. I watched her do this a few times and realized that she was probably trying to lay her eggs on the only milkweed she could find, which clearly wasn’t a suitable place to lay eggs 😢 I thought about how Donna was treated last week and everything about both of those experiences was so sad. I’m very happy to see that you gave her a platform to talk about this and tbh, if she hadn’t educated us on butterflies before, I wouldn’t have had that insight into the butterfly’s behavior. I learned something new, so THANK YOU DONNA!!! 💖

I've been going to the gyno since I was 15, I am now 28. I have never had a male gyno until my recent appointment a month ago. I did not know I had a male doctor and I didnt want to make it a huge deal because I thought "hes a professional dont be such a whimp"-- thankfully he was a super sweet person and very nice doctor, but by the end of the appointment I was crying in his face because I felt so weird about having a male do my annual, and I never will do it again. It is just odd to me, I prefer a woman 100%.

It makes sense that Ethan wouldn’t want Donna to read her essay on butterflies at that time when they whole family had traveled there for just one episode. Hearing Donna speak about this problem was great, I am from Mexico and we are all very upset with the government and the cartels, since the whole system is corrupt, it sucks, however, the new generations are more informed and there is more and more activism.
Btw the Mexican activist who was assassinated was: Homero Gómez González, he was an engineer and an activist. He was also the director of a nature reserve for monarch butterflies in Michoacan. We miss him and love his work. 🦋
I am not Mexican but I appreciate and respect their culture and it makes me sad to see the cartels take over too. But I agree, I think new generations are going to bring the change that we wish to see and I am hopeful for Mexico

We actually didn’t know this was a thing until we did some research to learn more about Tourette’s! So TW if you pick up on tics easily you might want to just listen instead of watch!!

Without Trish being here This entire show is just so wholesome and I didn't know how excited I would be for something like this every week. I love seeing your mom look at you so proudly. And listening to her talk about things she's passionate about, such as butterflies. Ethan cracks me up he always has. Your dad is also great. I love all of your senses of humor and watching them collide.
I wasn't really sure how much I agreed with him in the past but now he seems to have really come into his own and figured things out. I love the show.

My mom and I have been raising monarchs (and black swallowtails) since I was a kid. We released approx 300 last year. The aphids decimated our milkweed last year and most of it didn't grow back, so we aren't raising them indoors this year 😔💔 she did such a great job!! I'm so excited to hear someone talk about monarchs!

Hiii idk if anyone from the pod would see this, but Donna would truly be a great guest visitor in a retirement home or long term care. I work in a LTC and we have a lady who comes in during the summer and works with a group of the residents to put together terrariums for monarch butterflies and she brings in caterpillars and the residents LOVE it! They get pictures with the butterflies and get to check in on them and watch them hatch. Donna seems to have a great demeanour in general for working with older adults and I'm sure if she was interested they would love to have her.
Dont think that will be possible with how bad covid is getting again in LA
