helo sir i created smart bone using 0 to 90 degrees angle to change shape of purticular layer its working fine but the problem is at frame 5 on time line i changed the shape of the layer using smart bone at the angle 35 degrees so i want to copy same shape formed on frame 5 at angle 35 in another layer as default shape like that i want to create more layers with out drawing to save time is it posible plz give replay
Hi, Actually I'm practicing in a Demo Moho 12 and it seems I can't find the option Action under Windows Sir, maybe I'm using a demo or a different version and that is the reason why the option is not there? Thank you in advance! I really wanted to learn this new stuff and I know that you are the only one who can help me :)
@@SquareBearStudio i see.. thank you so much for your help appreciate it.. i wish i could buy that Pro sooner so icould do exactly what you are doing sir. Tnx again
I don't quite understand what's going on. I'm following this to the letter and I have anime studio 10. After putting all the bones in and manipulating the bones, only the bones move but the object stays completely still. I've tried this multiple times to make sure I'm following every tutorial on this and I'm doing it right but yet the object never moves. Any thoughts?
Several, but I’m not sure of your experience level so let me go through what I’ve seen in the past. Number one, the vector layers aren’t inside the bone group. Two, the binding is set to area binding but the bone strength has been set to zero. Those are the big ones. Another is somehow a smart action has gone very wrong, to test that I usually save as a new file, delete all the actions, and see if it fixes it. If it fixes it, it’s then detective work to find the problem. There are possibly others, but I’m betting there is a binding issue. If you’re learning, consider joining the Moho Character Animators Facebook group.
Thank you Erik. Doors continuing to be opened. I so appreciate your content. I was reading your replies from some other comments and I think you are suggesting that when we go into actions, we should set our in betweens to linear?
Gail Gong that is right. Linear is constant speed between the keys, if you use the standard smooth it means there is some speed and slow in the action. Then add smooth interpolation to the smart bone when you are animating and you double it. Or use a different interpolation, and it adds some smooth into the mix. Using Linear means that the action doesn’t add anything you don’t want into your animation when you animate a smart bone.
I keep the hand separate so I don’t need an action for the wrist. And I usually do hands as switch layers which also means a separate element is best. And thanks.
What's frustrating is that i draw my art in another program and making it a vector layer instead of an image layer makes it look like utter shit. can't figure out how to smoothly bed things without making them a vector layer. i think i did at one point but i can't remember now :/
ferano wibisono not in this one. If you have one, have you set up two individual actions, one for each direction? The biggest reason I've seen for a choppy action is trying to put two directions in a single action. The other is not having enough keyframes in the action, you need enough to have a nice smooth turn, and if you have fewer than 48 you may start to see chop and jitter.
Found it. Your action is 50 frames long. Your animation is way longer than that. So it doesn't have enough frames in the action to cover the length of the action in your animation. Here's the thing, I usually set my actions to be 96 frames long, easy to spot that because that shows the 4 second line at 24fps. You won't get jitter if your action has plenty of frames. But your animation has more than the number of frames in the action, so it needs to repeat some of those frames to fill the space. I also recommend changing the keyframes (start and finish) for the bone action to Linear, that way you aren't having conflicts with the interpolation you use in your full animation.
Hi Eric. Great tutorial. I'm really struggling with MOHO. I can't even draw a simple straight or curved line! If I create a line, it has no stroke. If I create a line with auto stroke enabled, then use the create shape tool, it has no stroke. The line width tool doesn't affect it once it's drawn, I can't change the stroke with the paint bucket, and I can't even change stroke colour from the colour picker eyedropper tool. Both fill and stroke eyedroppers say to drag to a colour on the screen to change stroke or fill colour, but the colours don't change when I do this. I'm really struggling. Please help!
Robert Anderson hey, if you haven’t joined us on the Facebook group, please come over. facebook.com/groups/mohocharacteranimators/ It sounds like you may not have Stroke checked in the control bar or the styles panel, you can do it from either place. With the tool, selected, when you go to create a line see if you can check Stroke. If you can, do it. If you can’t and you are using the Create Shape tool, make sure that Stroke is checked before you create the shape. Those eyedroppers can be weird. They are mostly aimed at the fill, and on some screen resolutions they can be off and not pick up what you think you’re picking. It is much easier to help with the Facebook group, though. Hope this helped.
Wow! I finally found someone who can explain smart bones in a simple an understandable way. Thank you.
Thank you for good explanation 👌
Very good tutorial. Great example of how to teach as well!
Wow! You really clarified about how smart bones get error.
Love your logo and it's intro animation

If you are demoing Debut, you won’t have actions. Only Pro.

i dont have the actions button, is it because i am using the debut demo?
Yes, very much the reason
I did one tutorial on old-school arm joints, though, and frankly it’s the method I use more often anyway. Works great in debut.

wow thank you for good explanation ! very simple and fast !!!
Thanks Mr. Bear for doing a video that clears all this up for my cloudy mind😜
Oh, thanks. I have the regular version. I didn't see that u had the pro version anywhere. Sorry about that
If you are not on Pro, you won’t have actions. If you are on Pro you need to go to the Windows menu in Moho and turn it on.
Thanks

Somehow I missed this. In Moho 12 the meshes are great for bending your imported bitmaps, PNG-24 is best for the good transparency.
what can I do if I have debut?
Dankus Memus try this one m.ua-cam.com/video/6mlDzi46Y6s/v-deo.html

Smart Bones are Pro only.
do you have jitter or choppy effect on the elbow when doing the smart action?

no, only one direction. here is the example project. Thank you for helping :)
