  • Our train pulled in Edinburgh in early May 2023 on a sunny afternoon. We quickly checked into our accommodation and decided to make our way to the Holyrood Park. After hearing so much about the Arthur’s Seat, we were looking forward to visiting it for real.
It certainly did not disappoint to take a hike up the well known hill. On our way walking up to the Arthur’s Seat, we were treated with fantastic lookout views over the city of Edinburg. We even spotted Calton Hill and the Edinburg Castle from a far.
Arthur’s Seat is located in Holyrood Park and the highest at 251 m above sea level of a group of hills known as the Salisbury Crags. Salisbury Crags are remains of an extinct volcano that erupted millions of years ago. A few precious hours spent here certainly gave us a sense of awe and calm in the busy city.
We were rather tired after ascending to the top and standing on Arthur’s Seat but nevertheless feeling happy that we have made it.
