Honestly it’s just like cosplaying at your own OC which is kind of cool, I’d never do it, but obviously some people do and they seem to enjoy it and it brings people together, so I don’t see an issue.
honestly, i never understood why so many people hate on furries. they're just doing something they love, who cares if it's cringey or strange in your opinion, they're not harming anyone. just let people live, man. i'm glad they've found something they can identity with.
Jemina Tamminen there was a point at the early stages of the furry fandom that did paint it in a very bad light, look into the early convention and there were many cases of harassment and sexual harassment that when were reported on nothing was done about them, people spoke out and the media got wind of it, it's much better now but the early years have really affected it, look into it yourself if you want more information. Also some people are ignorant.
Yes, points from me! I can't imagine not being a furry at this point and just love that finally there is some accurate representation within the media. There will ways be haters, but in the end, they probably aren't worth the attention they seem so eager to recieve. 😸 furries are here to stay!
the only comments I see are negitive comments and comments to do with Dan Howell (why even)... look, yeh its very weird but I gotta hand it to the BBC for making such a nice video and I actually regret saying no to the BBC team who messaged me about doing it. Will happily work with yous if you think about doing something like this again
As part of the Phandom I can say that we’re talking about Dan because he jokes a lot about being a furry, and as he worked for the BBC before, we think the connection is funny. The other thing is, this was an adorable video. It showed good things about furries and it gave such a positive side to the furry fandom. I don’t know what people are all about, but it warmed my heart.
I don't think it will ever become a social norm, but hopefully the misconceptions and stereotypes will stop poisoning the "normal people's" minds and they learn to accept the fact that not everyone is supposed to be "normal" and they're just having fun and enjoying their lives, no matter how weird their hobbies may be.
We know we're weird, you don't have to tell us. We know we're different, you don't have to bully us for it. We're not going anywhere anytime soon though, so you might as well just accept us. ❤
Well then maybe the supposed 90% of furries should tell the 10% that makes furries look bad to knock it off and maybe people wouldn't generalize the fandom as a bunch of perverted degenerates. Oh, but you can't, because people will be people. They're just gonna keep doing as they please in spite of furries trying to be gatekeepers of the fandom while people on the outside continue to see them in a bad light, and the wheel of hate and ignorance will keep on turning.
I'd say it was UA-cam Comments Syndrome, but even when I was involved in this fandom (a decade and more ago; I've more or less lapsed these days) things were pretty similar. So I think it's more Edgy Teen Syndrome.
I saw this vid when it was first uploaded and it was flooded with hate comments. A few I commented on because they were so sick. Im just glad they are gone. It was really sad...
I wore my fursuit for Halloween last year and at one of the houses, a lady opened the door and was just so overjoyed. She yelled for her husband to come see it and asked if I could pose for a picture. She was so amazed, it was one of the sweetest things ever! Another time me and some fur friends went to a nearby festival in costume, and it seemed like everyone wanted a picture or a hug. We even rode the carousel together in our suits and it was so fun waving to people and seeing little kids point at us. Last year or so I believe, I surprised a friend of mine in fursuit and she gave me the biggest bear hug and couldn't stop laughing because she had never seen anything like it and thought it was really cool. Those are just a few moments that have stuck with me. I have so many wonderful memories from this fandom, and I don't plan on leaving!
Ightslay just wait until your older, Trust me I used to be a furry but right after I realized..it’s fucking weird most of the people there do it to be Quirky and so “OWO SENPAI CHAN” and I realized it was fucking cancer.
@@hi-sm4ej . It may be Cancer for you, but for many others, it is a cure, cue a quote, " If it wasn’t for the furry fandom, I would still be experiencing an extreme lack of confidence and high levels of depression. I love this community so much." - Red W. Ravelli. So think twice about you say, please. Have a nice day! :)
"Hey look buddy... I'm a furry. That means I give snuggles. Not snuggles like the one you see on the internet... I give practical snuggles. For instance, what am I gonna do when a big cute Telephone is trying to cuddle me to death? The answer: cuddle back. And if that doesn't work... Cuddle back more. Like this fluffy grey wolf fursuit build by me, designed by me... And you best hope, trying to snuggle you."
I don't even know where to start with furries. Do you know who we are? Do you have any idea who we are? Basically kinda a big fandom. Oh man, that fursuit is beautiful. It's just a hobby. Art grows. The foxes run and I nuzzle people. Brother I boop people. I'm a force of cuteness. If you were from where I was from you would be at Anthrocon.
Rapists and zoophiles aren't furries, whether or not if they wear the suit and go to conventions, they're just rapists and zoophiles. They don't belong in our fandom. Furries are doing something they love, if it's sexual or anything, who cares, it's not harming YOU in any way. P.S. Think about other fandoms, (this is a rant about the sexual side), anime has WAY more hardcore stuff than the furry fandom when it comes to sexual stuff. Not only that, but MLP, and even video games that are super popular.
Overwatch, for example, is… The character designs speak for themselves, honestly. Some are more suggestive than others, but if anything is smutty, it’s heterosexual romance novels. I’ve not read them myself, but the things I’ve heard are in those is almost shocking that they can put than on print in public bookstores.
To be honest, it doesn't seem that bad. I don't think I'd ever dress up and become a furry, but it does seem nice that they've got a hobby that makes them feel more confident. Sure, it looks weird, but it's practically the same thing that you see at Disney Land where you see those Mickey Mouse costumes.
People have insecurities. They can dislike their face, their body, their weight, anything to do with their self image and they can also be extremely socially anxious which makes it hard to communicate with people. Behind these masks, no one knows what they look like, and it allows them to talk in a community that they're comfortable in. Imagine it as being on the internet and being able to communicate to people anonymously, but instead of digitally talking to people, you can physically interact with them. They enjoy this life style because there are so many other people like them, and it allows them to be happy.
@@blainpolishak a fursuit is more than something to hide behind. It gives people more confidence to make friends (and keep them) and it makes them feel happier and more confident which can rub off in their every day life and can be very good and healthy for them! It's just an outlet for us to help bring something that means a lot to us to life (our fursonas)
Alright- for everyone who doesn’t understand what a furry is. Do you know of/like Disney, rocket raccoon, etc? Do you know of/like cosplay? Tony the Tiger, Zootopia There you go
and people wouldn't know what that means if they are like 10 (not saying all 10 and below doesnt know what it means though) @@thischanneldontworkanymore3958
As much as I love this video, there is one problem. It perpetuates the ongoing narrative that Furry is all fursuits or costumes. You do NOT need a costume to be a furry. A passion for anthropomorphic animals is all you need. Many in the fandom are artists, musicians, puppeteers, or otherwise contribute in their own way aside from wearing a costume. I don’t intend to take away from this video because it is very good, but I hope that if you’re watching this that you don’t feel like you need a costume to be welcome, because you don’t.
Sorry but I disagree. I still remember when I was still in the fandom and I was talking with some non-suiters in the fandom there does seem to be this hierarchy of furs of if you wear a suit you actually get treated like an actual person in the fandom and then if you dont wear a suit no one really bothers with you too much no matter how social you try to be. All I see it as is a popularity contest at the end of the day with the fandom. If it wasn't so much that way I might of stuck around but when I brought this topic up I just got harassed out of the fandom.
Goddamn, everyone here is so toxic towards our community. Hate to say it guys but, we’re having fun. You can type away at your keyboard about how much you dislike us, how weird and awful it is, but we don’t care. We’re here to have a good time, and we suggest you do the same instead of being rude to people with different interests. If you don’t like it, don’t participate! Just, have a nice life and try to be kinder to everyone.
I just hate the fact that people think furries are super sexual behind the scenes. It's as if they can't think logically and let the media control their opinions :/
if normies think they have the right to shoot us we have the right to maul them but a very small amount/percentage of humans are furries, so we are endangered anyway you cant kill us
I didn't know this existed, but I'm glad they are happy in their way. I can understand most of them being shy as I, myself am a shy person. I don't think I'd like to put on a costume tbh, but they seem to be happy with it and that's the most important thing of this. Also they are not doing anything bad to anyone, so I don't understand why are people hating on this... Let it be.
No No Thank you so much for saying this! It’s amazing to have people like you being kind and accepting, regardless of liking the fandom or not. It really means a lot to me, and I’m sure many others too!
No No I agree! But I am actually a furry, I want a fursuit when I'm older because I love attention an making people happy but am still shy, so making someone happy while I'm wearing a big doggo costume would be great.
People are hating on them because of the bad part of it. There are people who make it sexual. There porn of it and some like to fuck in those? People think that is what being a furry is about but its not. You dont need to like the sexual part. And also theres rule 34: if it exists theres porn of it. Theres that bad side in everything and people dont seem to get it. Being a furry doesnt mean you like to fuck animals.
yES OHMYGAWD They always seem to take the ones that look like they were bought for 50$ on DHGate and use those as a public representation. I'm glad they got some nice-looking suits on there!
I legit was trying to look for hate comments but didn’t find anything. This doesn’t feel right at all... Welp at least our hater population is dying down here
so what If those "hater" genially have something constructive to say that would make the fandom better that's holding it back because that's what I did when I was in the fandom pointing out some flaws about it that was making it hard for me to personally enjoy the fandom. I didn't expect it to go anywhere I simply laid my thoughts out on the table but instead I got harassed and got given all tons of grief instead of a civil conversation and in the end I just left the fandom as a result of that.
The furry community is absolutely amazing. They never turn anyone (aside from nazis, -phobes, and other harmful people) away, and they’ve helped so many people recover from mental (and physical) issues. If it wasn’t for the furry fandom, I would still be experiencing an extreme lack of confidence and high levels of depression. I love this community so much.
07734 101 please quit it IMMEDIATELY i do have very important reasons why First off it causes suicide, bullying is the 87% cause of suicide so contuine hating on them they may do a suicide because words do hurt im not trying to say you are bullying furries im trying to say please immediately stop the hate we pretty much have enough hate in the world we can please stop it EDIT: im too lazy to write anymore reasons LMAO but try to think fast before you hate
They ain't going anywhere so I guess you memers should just accept them and stop smacking your sausage fingers on ur screen to make yourself feel better by bullying others. And get out of your moms basement, go outside and put your electronics down so you can live a life that should be lived.
Just wanna make one thing clear (pun), not all furries have a fursuit, only about 15.6% have them.I said this because the video implies that most furries own them. Regards, Sai
Sai studios haha bs!! A furrie is someone who dresses up and has a character!! NOT some thing where you can say I'm a furrie even tho I do not have a costume or anything! That just means u like them so stop sticking up for these WEIRDOS!!
@@spursgaming9594 As someone from the Furry Fandom, I confirm that fursuits are actually quite rare (because they are expensive) and that most furries don't have a fursuit.
Spurs Gaming sorry, but a furry is someone who likes animals and also loves to think of theirselves as some kind of animal. Most of the times, fury’s like things as role-playing as an animal, watching movies or reading books with an animal staring in it, or hang out with animals/other furry’s only some of them have suits.
@@spursgaming9594 Alot of furries really only like the style and the community, the ones with fursuits put extra dedication into the hobby because that is just what they decided they wanted to do, some can't afford a fursuit because they are very expensive(usually in the thousands) and take a whole lot of time for one to make, with dangers included.
So... They're only wearing and playing a character I get that and like in all fandoms we have the extremists so... Furry community, I respect you, you seem to be very cool people 😂👌🏽 Edit: I spell it wrong 😌 (Furrie)
I am so happy even non-furries are in the comments, being so generous and kind! The fandom has been, and is still going through bad stuff. Like, 1 out of 10 furries are sexual. I am making my fursuit and honestly. I have had so much support. When people say it is bad to be a furry, they don’t understand how much fun and how much joy it brings. It is a hobby, and honestly. It is no different than cosplaying (in my opinion). And to all the furries/supportive non-furries. Y’all changed my life. In probably the best way possible! Thank you.
I hate that people have to come out as furries, it shouldn’t be such a judged community. It’s not like it’s a sexuality. Almost All of my family and friends are really chill about it, so I never had to have a moment like that.
One time me and my friend burst into my living room with ebay on my laptop ad we asked my gran to buy us these two partial suits I found. She didnt buy them because they were too expensive.
There'll always be hate comments and people who feel like they need to hate a community who isn't doing any harm just because they think it's "weird", that doesn't mean we gotta stop though. Furries are such an amazing and loving community and I'm so happy to be a part of it!!
Christina Mason Umm... ok? I don’t know what that has to do with anything. I guess you just couldn’t think of a way to respond so you changed the subject.
Never understood why people hate on furries so much, (guessing bc they're shown in a negative light most of the time) there are so many people out in the world doing horrible things. Not something I would do, but many furries seem like very positive and happy people. Let them have their fun, it brings people together and isn't hurting anyone. For anyone who is a furry, fuck the haters and keep doing what makes you happy.
Same here. Also I feel that the news should realize that a huge majority of furries don't have a suit, they all seem to focus on the furries with suits and not people who don't have one or if even once mention the statistic. If there is one then I'd be amazed
The furry community is seriously amazing! I'm surprised I haven't commented sooner especially with already seeing this video and knowing about it long before the release. As a furry photographer, it's given me an even bigger circle of friends. Luisa is an awesome fur and I will be doing a second photoshoot with her tomorrow. I will also be getting my fursuit at some point in the next coming months too.
Can you guys help me this innocent furry girl is being attacked by rude haters in her comment section on this vid ua-cam.com/video/1BguuEhtzDs/v-deo.html please help me report them or fight them off
I personally believe we are living at the end of the "coming out as a furry" age. I think saying that you're a furry is slowly becoming more accepted, maybe shocking at first glance, but ultimately an amazing and awesome experience. I am proud to call this community my family.
Lets see what my friends tell me once i tell them that i am a furry One of them already thinks that the stereotype of furries being pervert weirdos is true...
The T-90 is a Russian third-generation main battle tank that was introduced in 1993. It is the successor to the T-72, and while it shares many similarities with its predecessor, it also features several key improvements that make it a formidable fighting machine. One of the most significant improvements of the T-90 is its upgraded armor. The tank's turret and hull are protected by a combination of composite and reactive armor that provides excellent protection against both kinetic and chemical energy rounds. The tank is also equipped with a Shtora-1 electro-optical jammer system that helps to protect it against laser-guided weapons. Another notable feature of the T-90 is its powerful 125mm smoothbore gun. This gun is capable of firing a variety of rounds, including armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds, high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) rounds, and high-explosive fragmentation (HEF) rounds. It also has a stabilized gun platform that allows it to fire accurately while on the move. The T-90 also has a low thermal and acoustic signature, which makes it difficult for opposing forces to detect. It is powered by a 840-horsepower V-92S2 diesel engine, which provides a top speed of 60 km/h and a range of up to 650 km. The tank also has an automatic fire suppression system, which helps to protect the crew in the event of a fuel or ammunition explosion. Overall, the T-90 is a highly capable main battle tank that is widely regarded as one of the best in the world. It has seen action in several major conflicts, including the Second Chechen War, the Russo-Georgian War, and the Syrian Civil War, and has proven to be a reliable and effective weapon system. While it may not have the same level of global recognition as tanks like the M1 Abrams or Leopard 2, the T-90 is still a force to be reckoned with on the modern battlefield.
@Big Nigger Bouta Kill You no need to be an A+ Grade asshole bud, I'm not a furry myself but i understand the concept of the furry fandom, you see people cosplaying as Stormtroopers, Jedi, Sith, ECT at Star Wars conventions, people cosplaying as their favourite characters at Comic con, please tell me how being a furry is any different, wait, actually don't, I'll tell you, it's not
Crazy how there’s a video about the fandom that isn’t 80 year old news reports yelling at each other and people openly bashing it, it’s an interview with actually people in there
Even if there are actual people in it doesn't mean it will be a good representation. I've heard stories of news reports screwing people over in all sorts of ways, and basically continuing until they get something they can use the way they want. As one example there was a case where a girl fursuit at a convention (a long time ago) agreed to answer a reporters questions thinking it would be okay. She said something completely Innocent in context (about it being really hot in the suit and stuff, in the literal sense.. they get up to like 100 degrees). The reporter took the words and patched them in somewhere that was completely irrelevant to what he actually asked her to make it sound like she was talking about creapy sexual things. By the way, she was minor and her parents got really upset at her and never let her go out to conventions and stuff again. I know this because it was in a story by Anthrocon staff that they were using to tell people to not talk to reporters unless constaff is with them. I haven't been to Anthrocon, but I heard the story in a video. I've heard other ones too where a network got a girl to agree to go on a show to talk about her suiting/suit making where they made it sound like it was a show on creative interests or such and it was actually a show on creepy addictions and once she signed a contract to be in the show they used it to bully her into acting in ways they asked her to even though it was not a representation of how she would actually act (like going up to/bothering strangers while in costume so she'd seem obnoxious and such).
While we're taking over the world, please keep your seatback in the upright position, keep your tray tables stowed, make sure your window shade is up, and keep your seatbelt fasten whenever seated. Please refrain from killing us using any method whatsoever. We wish you a pleasant apocalypse.
I’m a furry and fursuiter, this account is actually going to turn into an account where I sell and show my fursuits and maybe do other videos. Being a furry is a hobby and it’s actually really fun to hang out with other furry friends, dancing, and just having fun. Currently, I have 2 fursuit heads, a pair of paws, a pair of feet paws, and a tail. I’m also working on a current one and maybe opening up commissions soon
Thank you for making this documentary! And thank you to all who don’t exactly like it and/or understand it, but still support it. It makes me happy to know there are non-furries that are okay with it.
i would hate a world where everyone was a fur. it would just make it meaningless and pointless. but, i would like to be respected. i am a proud young fur, and hope on starting my suit soon. but when everyone thinks we are weird, it's hard. i just wish people would accept us as normal people.
To those seriously hating on the fandom...why? It doesn't affect you, does it? As well as a photographer and someone who works with both animals and in the retail/customer service industry, I'm also a furry. Have you ever been to a comic con? Fursuiting is literally just another form of cosplay. Dressing up as a character who just happens to be an animal. And, also, not all furries have suits. In fact, the majority don't have on but it's the fursuits that tend to be the main focus for those outside the fandom. And like I have vaguely mentioned, it's a fandom so just deal with it and get on with your lives...thank you.
did any of you complaining so much actually watch the video? smh there’s so many bad things in the world and THIS is the thing you choose to hate on? get a hobby
You people don’t understand how dedicated these people are. This is an amazing hobby and people spend thousands of pounds on a fursuit alone. Furries are dedicated.
@@Tremuoso so you DONT know the definition of a furry. A furry is literally someone who likes animals with human characteristics. It literally has nothing to do with being sexually attracted to animals. Liking furries is the same thing as liking a cartoon sponge who can talk.
Nice work Takk! The fandom gets too much hate (as seen in this comment section, yikes) so it's nice to see a wholly positive outlook on furries without focusing on the "shock value" aspects. It's just a bunch of friends getting together and having fun with a shared hobby/interest. Just like any other fandom. I won't deny it's different, but it's not hurting anyone, let people be passionate about something harmless.
I wouldn't say I hate the fandom I more have critism for it after my 5 years of being in the fandom and being harassed out of the fandom when I decided to speak up and decided to be honest about what I was experiencing in the fandom and what I wished the fandom would actually crack down on.
Hi, for all the non furries wondering about young furs, we arent sexual and we just enjoy acting out a character we created. It's a fun hobby and something that makes us happy.
It's so nice to see you guys showing how great and friendly the furry community can be. It means a whole lot that videos like these give non-furries a positive outlook on the fandom and what it can accomplish.
God has a plan for everyone, everyone has their own interests as well! This happens to be one of mine! As a furry, i believe we are completely harmless, if the only thing you think about when you hear “furry” is porn, then you’re hating for no reason. Every fandom has a porn in it.. literally everything.... including sports. Most of this fandom is completely loving and full of creativity, there are so many inspired artists in this fandom as well, we’re getting hate for being who we want to be? Aren’t we trying to do the opposite in this world?? I love this fandom dearly and everyone in it. We’re a hug fuzzy family, get over yourselves if you’re going to take the damn time to hate on beautiful people :/
This was actually a nice way of showing what furries are, and I see so many hate comments, like let people be who they wanna be and if they are happy even better. They aren't really doing anything bad anyways..
Man like, idk why I'm tearing up. This community here I've been able to see and engulph virtually just, idk it just feels so homely, so friendly and fun. I always question about getting or designing a fursuit like, "Nahh that's a bit too much." but honestly, it's just so beautiful seeing these people put their hearts into their creations and being able to live these creative fantastical lives and create bonds it's just, man I can't even.
Cole Goodrich that's so sweet to hear. (Sorry about the creepily fast reply, I'm on youtube alot) I happily consider myself a furry and enjoy creating anthro art, I just don't know if I would ever take the step into fursuiting. I do love the community with all of my heart.
I’m a little annoyed they didn’t mention that it’s not sexual for most people, but I’m glad they’ve done the video, hopefully with it being on a channel like this there’s gonna be a lot more people a little more educated about their community.
honestly, it was best not bringing it up here in the shorter video if we always mention the sexual aspects, then people will assosiate us more with the sexaul side of the fandom the less media brings it up, the more 'normal' everything will look
I understand that it is annoying, but by not mentioning it at all people who have never heard of the fandom wont make a connection. By making the ‘oh it’s not sexual for everyone’ comment, people who never even considered that now have that connection Idk if that made sense or not but hope that explains kt
I've always been extremely shy and I've even got PTSD, putting a suit on helps wash away all the anxiety just for a little bit. Yes they get hot but for me they don't get too hot. I love being in this fandom for the creativity. Fursuits are 100% hand made and made with blood sweat and tears. They cost a lot but they're really worth it. Say you love all things sonic related and you end up getting a fursuit of sonic and you get to be him for a while, it's like that. You're who you want to be and love. I've got many fursonas my main one being my bird named Vincent. I've met so many amazing friends that have lasted longer than any other, I've even met my girlfriend and we're engaged. This fandom has it's ups and downs as all do but you'd be surprised how PG it is, obviously there's a sexual side as is literally ANYTHING. I'm so glad I'm a furry, I've made so many people smile because of how cute my suits are, it's amazing to wear them and make someone's bad day a good day. I know if I seen a furry walking around I'd be thrilled. I can't wait to go to America for the first time, to visit the furcons.
What’s funny is how so many people hate on furries, but not cosplayers! They’re both a hobby, and they both aren’t based around sex even though they BOTH have sexual sides. Been a furry and a cosplayer for years and it’s just been amazing. I’ve met so many people and made so many friends through the furry fandom. It’s NOT a sexual thing and it’s actually interesting if you dig a little deeper than just knowing “grown ass people dressed as dogs.”
Even though it's a bit cringe, I'm open minded and I think it's cool that people are able to be themselves. Edit : shit, I did not want to make this a conversation, sorry I said it was a bit cringey. also did not mean for anyone to be offended or anything, sorry once again Edit 2 : since I have loads of felt, I decided to just make unicorn ears, animal ears and horns to sell them at my school. BRUH EVERYONE BOUGHT IT
How is it cringey? Not being rude, I'm genuinely curious haha. I'm a furry (I do not own a suit, I'm an artist) and * never understood why people thought it was cringey.
xXspaghetXx lemme explain it to you, its about others because furries are like being dirty minded and cringe like twerking at the car like wtf thats just super cringe like they grab wines to smash and then they are like making a videos of how furries rule the world... And etc
I am a furry and I got lots of hate for being one.Kids at my school noticed my anthro art and started bullying me because of it.Once when I was walking past to go to the restroom a kid whispered to me ''fucking furry''.Lots of people disrespected me not only because I was a furry but because of who I was as a person and what I enjoyed to draw.My friend who is also a furry found out that one of her friends would kill someone for being a furry.I felt like I could not be a furry anymore because of all the hate from the kids at my school so I left the fandom.I even started forcing myself to hate furrys to fit in with other people.Soon as school ended and I could get in touch with my digital friends. They taught me more about being a furry and made me more comfortable with being a furry as well as not caring what people thought. Many people in the furry community were accepting, kind and funny.Im very lucky to have some furrys as my friends.I have no idea why people think one side of a fandom depicts the entire fandom and that goes with everything. You can't just think and see a one side story. You need to look for yourself to see the full story of a fandom before making a final judgement.Dont go harassing others for what they love your only bringing hate. Anyways sorry if this was long lmao I felt like I need to vent about my experiences in the furry community and being a furry.
BBC the only news station that actually shows true topics and gets all the sides and not just how some people view them for views. Good Job BBC the only real news station.
love the video great i love being a furry its a way expressing yourself and explore more about being a furry hope this video can help people understanding that being a furry is about love for the fandom its not a fetish or trend just being what you are nor its way to make friends, you make friends the normal way. Being a furry is way of appreciating art and creativity in the fandom its the love for characters furries create
I wanna become a furry for some reason My parents wouldn’t just allow me to go around in a suit but it seems fun. I’m young so I can’t work as someone in a fursuit.
GamingWithAFlavour You don't need a fursuit to be a furry! If you want to be a furry, you can be! I personally haven't told my parents either and know the struggle
I allways look at furries and I ask: isn't it to hot in those suits? like seriurly, I worked as a mascot on diferent places and the temperature on every costume was extreme even if the costume didn't have that mutch coat. How can they tolerate that kind of heat?
Discbreaker Chanel It is really hot inside the suits. Partials (head and paws) are less bad, but full suits are awful. Some heads have fans in them, and most people wear a cooling vest beneath the suit.
At conventions they have an area called the ‘headless lounge’ a lot of furries don’t like to take off the heads in public cuz it ruins the magic so people go to the headless lounge for breaks
@Paranoid Mailman It wouldn't make much sense to generalise a very diverse group of people over some sickos though. The fandom has it's problems and they aren't going ignored, a lot of people are just trying to have fun and be comfortable interacting with people with similar interests.
It hurts me to see all these hate comments. What have we done to deserve this? Then again Jesus Christ was crucified for telling the truth. We just enjoy cosplay is that really soo wrong?
Loved this piece. It brought a tear to my eye, the fact that it has made such a difference to these peoples lives. It’s just such a shame there’s a stigma around furries, but this should help build towards more acceptance. Thank you 🙏🏼
I met some furries at our LGBT+ pride festival and they were so nice and a dragon furry encountered my dog and he backed away and they looked at me like they were so offended 😂
@The Cum man That seems a bit excessive, so if they came anywhere near your dog you'd beat them within an inch of their life? You'd be arrested for assault, and no reasoning for it either
I've lived by the saying, I'll respect your opinion as long as your opinion doesn't disrespect anyones existence, and I think we need to think that way towards not only furrys, but everyone.
I love how beautifully this conveys the fandom, I wish other mainstream media was capable of this, so BBC gets my seal of approval. I also loved the "Pizza Rolls not Gender Roles" shirt.
Love the video!💕 I like how you a interviewed furries and and talked about why people are furries. The community is generally a nice place, although we can have some sort of drawbacks from certain things (porn, people acting like they're hot shit, rude people or people who act inappropriate in public) which stands out like a sore thumb from the rest of the community (because hate grabs more attention than positivity..) But you know, almost every fandom that has existed has similar drawbacks like that. Things like that can't just be easily prevented :/ I'm proud to be in such a friendly (for the most part) community, and I'm glad you did a video on it! (Although there was a flaw of only interviewing furries that had fursuits and not interviewing people that didn't have a fursuit that were still furry, but hey for the most part I really enjoyed this video!) I also love that you didn't treat and show off furries as something weird or inhumane (although it's kinda weird I gotta admit, but it's kinda the same as a mascot if you think about it?) And for the hate comments (which I don't see?) Were they all reported/deleted or something? I mean it's good that they're not visible anymore, but I doubt BBC would take their time to delete comments-
Why do they have to use footage of us doing day to day tasks in fursuit for establishing shots? We only really wear our suits at events, conventions, or when blogging, not for doing housework.
Nice video, thanks for making it. Nobody has the right to hate on harmless groups of people but people fear what they dont understand and feel the need to attack it. The negative comments that will certainly appear on this video demonstrates how stupid people can be when faced with something they dont understand or that are so insecure in themselves they have to bash other peoples harmless interests. See you next year!
*hello! Owo!* EDIT: me and her have he same issues! We are both rlly shy, and being in the fandom has really helped us go out and actually talk to and meet new people! It’s incredible really!
Honestly it’s just like cosplaying at your own OC which is kind of cool, I’d never do it, but obviously some people do and they seem to enjoy it and it brings people together, so I don’t see an issue.
Thank you for being ever so sweet to the fandom, unlike some other comments!
This is literally the sort of comments we need! I might be a photographer but I'm also a furry too. It literally is just another form of cosplay!
Exactly.

honestly, i never understood why so many people hate on furries. they're just doing something they love, who cares if it's cringey or strange in your opinion, they're not harming anyone.
just let people live, man. i'm glad they've found something they can identity with.

I don’t know what people are all about, but it warmed my heart.
fortnite is a crap game XD
Hi
Where do u get the suits?
Can u tell me the places where anthrocon is?
The furry community is growing faster than ever before and in several years may start to be known as a social norm.
DanSanus lmao I like furries but that’s a stretch
We are getting more positive representation in the media, which is a start.
Just look at all the movies that you can watch, a lot of movies involve furries, I see it all the time
I think it’s good more and more people are being themselves, right?
We know we're weird, you don't have to tell us.
We know we're different, you don't have to bully us for it.
We're not going anywhere anytime soon though, so you might as well just accept us.

Hecc yeah!!! Furries, UNITE
XD
Well then maybe the supposed 90% of furries should tell the 10% that makes furries look bad to knock it off and maybe people wouldn't generalize the fandom as a bunch of perverted degenerates.
Oh, but you can't, because people will be people. They're just gonna keep doing as they please in spite of furries trying to be gatekeepers of the fandom while people on the outside continue to see them in a bad light, and the wheel of hate and ignorance will keep on turning.
fluffycat200 very true

The amount of 14 year old teenage boys expressing their want to commit violent acts against furries is appalling.
I'd say it was UA-cam Comments Syndrome, but even when I was involved in this fandom (a decade and more ago; I've more or less lapsed these days) things were pretty similar. So I think it's more Edgy Teen Syndrome.

That sounds amazing! I'd love to own a suit someday...
Ightslay just wait until your older, Trust me I used to be a furry but right after I realized..it’s fucking weird most of the people there do it to be Quirky and so “OWO SENPAI CHAN” and I realized it was fucking cancer.

Meet the furries (TF2 music starts playing in the background)
"Hey look buddy... I'm a furry. That means I give snuggles. Not snuggles like the one you see on the internet... I give practical snuggles. For instance, what am I gonna do when a big cute Telephone is trying to cuddle me to death? The answer: cuddle back. And if that doesn't work... Cuddle back more. Like this fluffy grey wolf fursuit build by me, designed by me... And you best hope, trying to snuggle you."
*Prepares to cloak and dagger*these animals aren’t leaving without a proper teaching
Lol
More news outlets should be more memey/self aware.
OMG THANK YOU I LOVE YOU AHHHHH
sorry but i've seen too much hard fetishes that only furries have :c
Overwatch, for example, is…
The character designs speak for themselves, honestly. Some are more suggestive than others, but if anything is smutty, it’s heterosexual romance novels. I’ve not read them myself, but the things I’ve heard are in those is almost shocking that they can put than on print in public bookstores.
I thought Dan Howell didn’t work for BBC anymore?

To be honest, it doesn't seem that bad. I don't think I'd ever dress up and become a furry, but it does seem nice that they've got a hobby that makes them feel more confident.

Le Monke But who does?
Just here to read this

People are hating on them because of the bad part of it. There are people who make it sexual. There porn of it and some like to fuck in those? People think that is what being a furry is about but its not. You dont need to like the sexual part. And also theres rule 34: if it exists theres porn of it. Theres that bad side in everything and people dont seem to get it. Being a furry doesnt mean you like to fuck animals.

There are 2 types of furries, the ones who use for inappropriate things.
And the ones who just use it for fun
I appreciate the for fun ones
and then there's a third type: the people who do both. that's most of us.
There are also ones who did it to cope with suicide... *Cough*

For every furry killed, 5 more spawn from the remains

I’m a furry and fursuiter, this account is actually going to turn into an account where I sell and show my fursuits and maybe do other videos. Being a furry is a hobby and it’s actually really fun to hang out with other furry friends, dancing, and just having fun. Currently, I have 2 fursuit heads, a pair of paws, a pair of feet paws, and a tail. I’m also working on a current one and maybe opening up commissions soon

Cinder Woods Gosh, I feel the same way xD
I can't wait to commission a maker to make a suit for my character, Star!
Cole Goodrich that's so sweet to hear. (Sorry about the creepily fast reply, I'm on youtube alot) I happily consider myself a furry and enjoy creating anthro art, I just don't know if I would ever take the step into fursuiting. I do love the community with all of my heart.
Cole Goodrich Haha, yeppp
I’m a little annoyed they didn’t mention that it’s not sexual for most people, but I’m glad they’ve done the video, hopefully with it being on a channel like this there’s gonna be a lot more people a little more educated about their community.
In the full video on BBC IPlayer, it talks about how the media oversexualizes them and gives them a bad name.
Check it out! It's intriguing.
honestly, it was best not bringing it up here in the shorter video
if we always mention the sexual aspects, then people will assosiate us more with the sexaul side of the fandom
the less media brings it up, the more 'normal' everything will look
Wolfie yeah I thought that it might be that kinda thing but I didn’t realise there was a longer one at the time
I understand that it is annoying, but by not mentioning it at all people who have never heard of the fandom wont make a connection. By making the ‘oh it’s not sexual for everyone’ comment, people who never even considered that now have that connection
Idk if that made sense or not but hope that explains kt
atleast you know now : )
As much as I may dislike you mr BBC you did well on this. No bias, just let the story speak for itself. good on ya
Edit : shit, I did not want to make this a conversation, sorry I said it was a bit cringey. also did not mean for anyone to be offended or anything, sorry once again

Love the video!💕
I like how you a interviewed furries and and talked about why people are furries. Things like that can't just be easily prevented :/
I'm proud to be in such a friendly (for the most part) community, and I'm glad you did a video on it! (Although there was a flaw of only interviewing furries that had fursuits and not interviewing people that didn't have a fursuit that were still furry, but hey for the most part I really enjoyed this video!)
I also love that you didn't treat and show off furries as something weird or inhumane (although it's kinda weird I gotta admit, but it's kinda the same as a mascot if you think about it?)
And for the hate comments (which I don't see?) Were they all reported/deleted or something?
