My husband started watching this and I came all the way here just to tell you that I think you look like nick miller from new girl lol the resemblance is amazing to me and thanks for the video my husband is excited to build this!
Another good ramp building tip is for flipping ramps put a radius continuously from bottom to top and for straight stable trajectory jumps there should be at least a vehicle length of straight at the lip of the ramp. This lets the suspension settle out before leaving the ramp and the vehicle flies straight.
Just got a basher this winter. Been using snow piles from plowing to launch. Snow is a melting. I'm a gonna build me some of those. Great video! I could probably figure out how to build some ramps, but now I don't have to. I KNOW I would not have thought to put casters on them. I am now. Thank you!!
Awesome! Glad this video is helpful! I’m eventually going to get slightly bigger casters for it since I occasionally need to roll it through the grass, but still helpful either way!
Thats great! Thanks!! Two years later and they’re still holding up strong! The only thing I would do differently is put larger casters on it for easier rolling.
note: everything greater than 45 degree angle is just extending the air-time not how far the car will fly. for example: a 50 degree angle results in a longer air-time but the car will fly as far as if it would jump from 40 degree angle.
It would be cool to put the 30° ramp at the top of a steep hill and see how far you could launch the car. The decline of the hill would help catch the car on the landing.
Good job dude . 👍👏. I’m in home remodeling and commercial offices . Judging by them tools and good cuts you know how to build as well . Great skills to learn imho . I ve never needed to call anyone for anything except stuff like a furnace and electrical box
Thanks! I do home repairs/minor updates. Not tons of carpentry but enough. I’m the same way, I’ve called on very few pros, almost always learn to do it myself.
@@DerbyCityRCthe only people I ve paid are hvac folks for the furnace and central air . If I didn’t need gas and have to pay bills I think I’d hardly work and stay on the land and tend to chickens and crops , lol .
How are they holding up? I'm about to head to home depot and grab the materials to build mine this week! No experience really, so your video will help me out!
I still use them all the time, well mostly the bigger one. Do yourself a favor and get bigger casters. Probably 4 inch, and unless you’re jumping really small cars, you don’t even really need the metal transition, though it does still help. If you do get a transition, put some wood underneath the ramp for the screws to grab into more than just the plywood. Glad this video helps!!
Very nice build, and awesome job to your helper. We’re building some ramps soon and this have us some great ideas. Also checked out the link for music, thank you.
Thanks!!! lol honestly not sure. That machete is specific for slicing zombie skulls. I was very surprised it worked on plywood. I figured it would take atleast two whacks to cut through it!! 🤣
Been subbed a little while now mate, love the channel! You and the kids are awesome. I am wondering, what size of ramp would you need to jump 20ft high and at least 80ft long with a heavy 1/8 scale that'll do 50mph
Thanks man! The one in the video should do about that. Have you seen this? I did it last year. It’s that bigger ramp I built in this video, but I lifted the launch end up about 5”. If you compare the cars height to me standing on my truck, it’s easily 20 ft, and I know it surpassed 75 ft long. It’s a 1/8 Kraton with all stock electronics. It’s only like a 1-1/2 minute video. ua-cam.com/video/0QdTk2BH1vA/v-deo.html
I build mine something like that but I make them with foldable lower and rear arms to fold into it so I can put them in my trunk lol use wing nuts to make things easy
It’s 17” tall and 36” long, plus the metal we used at the bottom for a smooth transition adds a couple inches. And yes, depending on the car, you can still do flips with it 😎😎👍
@@DerbyCityRC I have a HBX 18859A at the moment. My son has the 18859. I only wanna build one ramp and don’t wanna build something my sons car can’t handle. So I figured we would start small. Great cars for sure! I haven’t had much run time with my 18859a yet. I have a soft spot for the larger ones, but I have a set of wheels I do like on it, you just have to turn down the steering rate a bit to keep the tires from rubbing. I’ll get you a link to them in a minute. Thanks!!

Great vid. I presume you could also build one ramp with two different trajectories on each side (wheels on bottom too).
Definitely could if the tops met at the same height or there was a space between them. I have a plan for another ramp soon 😃
