Literally my favorite channel ever. I love your attitude to disc golf is super inspiring and your reviews definitely help me determine what I should be looking at
So glad it appears the first runs are less stable than the Protos. I didn’t get into proto so I sold it. It sounds like the first runs may be exactly what I was looking for.
So excited to see how much your channel has grown. Keep on keeping on. Let me know if you ever make it back to Rapid City, I’d love to play another round with you.
Love your channel dude! Greetings from Alaska! I’m new to disc golf, playing for about 6 weeks now and I really enjoy it. We have a 18 hole coarse near my house, all par 3 holes. It’s called Alcantra. My best score is 4 under par. Thank you for all your content and reviews.
If u want to diversify your bag and need a gateway mold get the hemp blend devil hawk. The best os approach disc in the game. The sure grip plastic is fine too but hemp blend is more durable
I really only throw the escape for a fairway. The new escape is exactly what I want for a fairway and I also had a very windy day and it was my best disc for wind by far, only needed a slight hyzer and it flipped up and actually flew farther than normal in a headwind
I had a DX teebird that got flippy on me, but then I threw an Electron Volt and now I want it in every plastic..... It's a little faster, but it's gyro fixed my forehand
What weights do you have and how similar would you say they are to a Mantis? My mantis got too flippy so I’m wondering if this would be a better straight flying fairway
@@jakeb_91 I have both the 164-166 and 173-174 weights. The lower weight Athena wants to turn a little more, but instead of flipping and tanking right it comes back true and lands near center. The higher weight Athena will hold true, maybe with a slight turn. Different flight pattern from a Mantis so regardless it won't be nearly as flippy for you. I recommend getting both weights and seeing what you like best.
It's fun, but sad that it's like a wasteland a bit! It was funny tho bc another vd I filmed there that isn't live is on Doomsday discs, so the apocalyptic feel was valid there! I think I played one actual round to practice, lots of variety which is nice but nothing super long
@@TheRealtallwolf right!!! I actually played to hole 4s basket as a safari for the video but cut it becuase it wasn't necessary for flights we hadn't really seen and it would've made the vid a bit too long. Dissapointing they didn't replace it since there's plenty of space to put one!
Is that fairhope course? Wondering why you throw drivers on putter holes. It's hard to get an accurate assessment of them on 200-300 foot holes because once you progress those aren't going to be very workable. Now the hole before the batting area with the netting is a great hole for all those. Jw
Ive gotten some feedback that people want to see different lengths than just higher arm speed lengths because if I throw them on these lines they might have flights more similar to people who don't throw as far as me! That's why there's the nice mix of the 250 as well as the 380 footers. Hard to do it everywhere but it's helpful for some people! also, I realized I didn't answer the initial question, yes it's fairhope lol
@@BodanzaDiscGolf okay I was just confused because I remember you saying how far you throw and I was like why in the world is he throwing those discs on putter holes LOL. I remember you were out there with us that night at UWF also and you were throwing your grace in the high 400s if I remember right
Hey cool guy. Im back after watching some of your video for Swanky and i figured out what you should do: grab two copies of a disc and throw them with me and we will see how they look off the line when a pro and a joe throws them. Loser will drop their disc at the donation box. Comparisons are hard since we cant throw two shots on the same angle, etc. the answer: Cage Match
Surprised you have had such inconsistant Teebirds, both of mine fly just like that Stike it looks like, in Star plastic. But I'm an Explorer man now - Opto plastic is delicious.
Try a 162 gram Ricky tee bird 3. Domey glidey and stable with flip up because it's light weight. I also bag 172 neutron relay that flys Dead straight on 4hand 70 percent
Strikes and Athena’s seem very different in both feel and flight. Strike is definitely more like a teebird in rim feel and dome, but it is less stable. The Athena gets compared to a teebird because of the printed flight numbers, but the profile definitely looks and feels more like an eagle. Also, the strike will beat in a little faster. My strikes are flip and ride right after probably 5 rounds.
interesting! I'll have to see how they beat in, well the strike, I don't plan on throwing the athena much! I've ripped the strike into a good few trees and it's help up fine so far, but time only tells! Their flights were basically identical as I was testing them!
Couple weeks late to this one so not sure if you'll see my comment. If you had your pick what brand would you most prefer as a sponsor when you make the pro tour? Also if you're ever in Ohio hope I can run into you somewhere. Keep up the great content ✌🏻
Don't want a manufacturer sponsor at least for a while. I want to self fund everthing through content so that I can throw exactly what I want and the long term play is either an infinite/open bag situation, or getting a manufacturer sponsor in the top tier of contracts (dollars wise) because of the social presence!
I think you should bag the Ricky explorer on more open courses so you can throw hyzer lines more consistently and throw as hard as you want into wind, with that 7 speed slot
I tried that for a bit, but I found even with the glory, the evader, the explorer, an os teebird3, I just don't like a more hyzer style disc for that 7-8 speed so I have a felon that I like there right now! I think I prefer the 9-11 speed for that control slot, especially because if I power down a bit it will dump even more
@@BodanzaDiscGolf lol ... Fair enough it was a great short one of my favorites.... I like the discraft rim tooling for when it’s rainy or humid to get a grip when my hands sweat but use the normal flat parts for anything else
Did you putt today?🤔😂
yes, on the beach!
Been watching a lot of your channel lately. Really like it, so made sure to subscribe today.
Came to see if Paul commented! lol The Athena has my approval!

soft touch on that skipper! was that off pine needles?
