- Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
In this video, I'm sharing a flipthrough of my Watercolor Pocket Panorama Handbook journal from the Travelogue series. This sketchbook measures 3.5”x8.25” and has been sitting in my stack of untouched sketchbooks for a while. Sound familiar? If you're a sketchbook hoarder like me, you know the struggle of having too many sketchbooks and not enough time to fill them.
Join me as I finally stop procrastinating and dive into this challenging format! Throughout the video, I'll share how I approached this elongated sketchbook with various ideas, including:
Drawing in portrait format for tall buildings and portraits.
Creating 180-degree panoramic views.
Using just one page for smaller sketches.
Spreading out across double pages for landscapes and tall flowers.
Drawing collections of items across the spread.
Experimenting with comic-book-style frames for multiple small drawings.
Trying out subject warping for a fun twist.
Filling this sketchbook has been incredibly rewarding and fun, and I hope this flipthrough inspires you to tackle your own stack of sketchbooks.
Embrace the wonkiness and remember, everything is interesting when you draw it. 🎨✨

I have a pile of sketchbooks gathering dust not because they're an awkward shape but because I feel they're too nice for me to use. I always promise myself that I'll use them 'when I'm good enough' (which never seems to come!) and stick to my really cheap ones instead. You've inspired me to take one out and have a go.
Do it! You will enjoy it!
Everytime I watch one of your videos, I get the urge to draw something. I'm inspired everytime
Mission accomplished!
"Everything is interesting when you draw it" love that!
And the truth.
That was fantastic, Koosje! I especially liked the comic book entries, but really, _all_ of it! 💕
I must get one and add it to my stash haha! 😄😄
Hahahah oh noooo!
Congratulations, Koosje! This is fantastic. Layout and composition on every single page is so inspiring and engaging. Absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing👏😍
Glad you like it!
These are stunning, Your sketchbooks are always so inspiring ☺☺
Thank you so much 😀
I just received your book and I really appreciated being given reasons to draw as opposed to being told how to draw. Guess which one has a greater impact... Thanks for what you do!!
Yaaaasss I am so happy to read that!
I love the whole sketch book. I didn't know that that size even existed. You inspired me today.
Glad you feel inspired!
Your stuff is awesome! One of the few urban sketchers that actually sketches with a brush pen. (Most just outline with them.)
I have a similar sketchbook (same company) and love it. Thought it was neat looking when I bought it. It's actually really really nice paper, paints are bright on it. Like others, i shouldn't have the amount of sketchbooks that I have; it's shameful. 😅 I do try to put at least one sketch in each book b4 setting it aside. Usually my coffee cup gets that sketch honor.
Thanks again!
I really like this handbook paper a lot too. Coffee cup drawings are the best!
Your sketchbook looks beautiful!! I have signed up for the Sketchbook skool course. Looking forward to learning from you there!!
Hope you enjoy it!
❤😊😊😊
😊
Hoi Koosje, can you tell me what greens you used, especially on the second spread? I have a hard time finding greens that don't look artificial... Thanks a lot ❤
In my watercolor palette I have Sap green, Green Gold and Hookers green from Daniel smith. Sap green is the only one that I sometimes use straight from the palette. The other ones I use combined with blues, yellows, browns and reds. I think this video may be helpful for you: ua-cam.com/video/7B6RCwrL33U/v-deo.htmlsi=ffT-2_AQ8Y3Fj0jE
Always an inspiration. Thankyou.
What lovely illustrations you do Koosje! You are so talented and I am full of admiration. X
Thank you so much!
Unless it is a video with you drawing so that we can draw along, I prefer this type of short videos because today, with lots of interesting things on UA-cam, if the videos are too long I tend not to watch them or at least jump forward for not to take much time.
In any case please keep inspiring me as you do with all your videos.
(You can always play it on double speed)
Interesting format. I think one could easily draw a long train or a stretch of busy highway with lots of businesses on the side.
A train!! Duh I didn’t think of that
@@KoosjeKoene - One could easily draw a train with a thousand cars, many with different cargos on top. I say ‘easily’ but over time it could get tedious.
You are so talented! You created some pretty great pages! ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Glad you think so
Great advice Koosje ...enjoy your vlogs 😊
I’m glad you enjoy my videos. Thanks!
Thank you for showing us, very interesting. I’ve read your book and love it, it’s full of inspiration. 😊😊
My husband has bought me this book for my birthday in August. I can’t wait to get it.
I’m so happy you like it, Janet!
Yikes, August is a long wait, still
Fantastic…love it! ❤❤❤
Yay!
Quite a big challenge with the format of your panorama sketchbook, but you've conquered it completely! I also admire your limited palette drawings. I always want to paint everything and it's real color. But your drawings are so unique to you and your color sense that also use color to emphasize your focus. So arty! 😍
Play around with limited color palettes. The ones you like, will be unique to YOU!
I purchased a similar sketchbook about a year ago & it’s been sitting on a shelf, collecting dust. Thank you so much for inspiring me to crack it open…and let my creativity flow 😍🦋
Just checking in: have you started in it yet?
Ah…an unusual size sketchbook as a way to experiment with different page spreads! Thanks for this. 😊
Glad you like it!
