I'm here to thank the most underrated band in British history. I discovered them in 2000 when I bought a pirated CD with all their songs, albums and singles in Buenos Aires. Since then I have followed them and, even, the most popular program on the radio in Argentina has an opening song of theirs. I think the world is far from appreciative of the contribution of a Britpop band that chose an alternative path. For my part, nothing more than to say thank you because for 25 years you have been with me when I need it most. Hugs for everyone.
I suffered from anxiety years ago in a big way and i have it under control now most days, but when this came out, it really helped me so much because it made me realise life could pass me by, genuine post , no lie
Sept. 9th, 2002 - Kool Haus in Toronto - This was the first concert I ever experienced LIVE with a video display behind the band. There Goes The fear was truly epic live.
The video itself deserves an award. This has captured the thoughts of many in their lives when they look at where it went and what they hoped for, are so far apart. We only get one life ladies and gentlemen.
Es verdad. Al comienzo de los años 2000 salió muy buena música que no son conocidas o les dieron el valor que merecían. Como está bandaza Doves. Saludos desde Lima Perú 😎🤘🏻
There's something about this song that I can't explain, but it brings me to tears everytime I listen to it. It's mainly when the slightly discordant guitar riffs go through the flanger; and almost sound like that they're searching for something.
What a strong and true meaning this song has. Approaching my 38th year I can now think of so many opportunities that have passed me by. Take those opportunities before life passes you by! Beautiful song.
This song made me reevaluate everything. I turned it around and live a full life with happiness, joy, adventure and wonderful relationships with my wife kids etc. Thank you.
First time I saw this was when Moby was hosting a show on MTV (when the M stood for music) and it made me realize I should never get married or have kids. that would be doing what others expected of me and not what I wanted. this video is the perfect encapsulation of the unexamined life and how that leads to a mid life crisis. instead I sleep on a large pile of money with lots of beautiful women.
“You turn around and life’s passed you by” made me cry my eyes out, cos it was how I felt 20 years ago! Thankfully I’ve found a revitalised life and love of music, but the lyrics for the entire song are still so very meaningful to me. P.S …. Amazing band to see live😘 ✌️❤️&🏴🍄🎸🎸!! Xx
Love this. Its got a really sad nostalgic feel to it. It reminds me of past times. Times I'm thankful to have been part of. Thoughts of family and friends who have since passed aand those still here. This is one of my top 10 favourites
I am Brazilian. I've been listening to this song since the series The O.C. I think it was in 2003. I'm watching the clip today and I see that it has a lot of references to my country. Sensational!

My fave song of all time nothing will top it. My soul feels connected to this song probably because I have alot of mental health issues. But I still listen to it all the time and it grounds me
Top song with true heart and meaning. They were the days when songs meant something, story's etc. Feel sorry for the younger generations of today, MUSIC HAS PASSED YOU BY!
I was in a mental ward in 2002 and this song kind of helped me out (with a lot of meds and inner work) but here I am listening again 21 years later…and yup, life does pass you by so fast!! No regrets!! Push through your anxieties everyone, I dare you!
A great tune and the meaning is so poignant to those who have and are still going through it. There is light on the other side… never give up!!! Fight like a fucker!
To me this track encapsulates a lot of what great Mancunian music is and hopefully always will be. Astute, emotionally mature with a great groove. I am from Bury.
Great lyrics, and possibly the most unusual ending I have ever heard in a song! Not to mention that a black Morris 1100 was my late dad's first new car back in 1965! Magic stuff!

The video is so on point. I bet there's plenty of us that have done or thought about doing what he did. Sometimes everything gets too much, where you think if I don't fuck off out of here I'm going to crack up. One of my favourite songs (top 3)
I listened to this song last night, first time I'd heard it in ages - what a tune! I love the optimism that seeps out of every musical note and lyric. I haven't heard "The Last Broadcast" in ages - maybe it's a good time to bust it out and give it a proper listen!
This song helps me ease my conscience. I often get enveloped by the thought of death and the shortness of life and it stops me in my tracks. I know there's still a lot of time to live, but I can't help think such awful things. Its been a real hard year.
The Fakey Cake Maker It's a UK Public Information Film from the 1970's that was never broadcast - it was intended to raise awareness of the signs of schizophrenia in a person, and show what to do if you suspect someone to be mentally unstable. Apparently you should assume anyone who may be bipolar is probably a serial killer, and must be approached as such. Mental health professionals were appalled at the lack of understanding of the subject shown by this film, and it was dropped before ever being screened to the public.
Merciful Zeus! WOW! Thanks for the information how damned interesting! I will be looking it up just get more info now. Many of the PIFs are so weird you can't help but love them and the voiceovers always so creepy. They once did an exhibition of them and I nearly got a job in the place that makes them. Sad I didn't I'd have liked to get a job there.
I remember running to Virgin Megastores at Cameron Toll, Edinburgh to snap up this single the morning after it came out because I knew it was being deleted on the day of release, and luckily there was at least 2 copies left on the shelf. One of the best singles of the early 2000s

I have been listening to this song for 15 years and this is my first time seeing the video. One of my favourite songs.
So am I. Been listening to this song spiritually back in my college days, 17/18 years a go, but just watching the music video today.
Me too.
Same here. Fantastic song, new album in pipeline so hopefully might catch them again on tour next year
Omg same here!!!!!!!!
18 for me.
The Last Broadcast album turns 20 today won’t you believe it! This masterpiece will always sound new.
Still the best indie song ever ❤
Some of the greatest music came out in the early aughts that doesn't get the credit it deserves today...
It will, one day. Just like how 80's music and culture had a resurgence so too will the 00's
earlys 2000s the best era of music history by far!
Es verdad. Al comienzo de los años 2000 salió muy buena música que no son conocidas o les dieron el valor que merecían. Como está bandaza Doves. Saludos desde Lima Perú 😎🤘🏻
Just the best , absolute class from the Samba drum beat to fucked up trippy video . Hoping to see them in Ediburgh next year .

Agreed. I love it. Sad yet brilliant.
Does the same to me. Great track
Interesting analysis.

The Best Stone Roses Song that the Stone Roses never did . Awesome.
What a tune. Everything about it is perfection.
Back when songs had conviction, with soulful melody. This is a beautiful song with a wonderful video. Should be so much more known.
Brilliant band and class video

This song is in my top 10 songs of all time. I relish the unexpected rio carnival sound at the end. The song along with the video just breathtaking!

lyrics
Out of here
We're out of here
Out of heartache
Along with fear
There goes the fear again
There goes the fear
And cars speed fast
Out of here
And life goes past
Again so near
There goes the fear again
There goes the fear
Close your brown eyes
And lay down next to me
Close your eyes, lay down
'Cause there goes the fear
Let it go
You turn around and life's passed you by
You look to ones you love
To ask them why?
You look to those you love
To justify
You turned around and life's
Passed you by
Passed you by, again
And late last night
Makes up her mind
Another fight
Left behind
There goes the fear again, let it go
There goes the fear
Close your brown eyes
And lay down next to me
Close your eyes, lay down
'Cause there goes the fear
Let it go
You turn around and life's passed you by
You look to ones you love
To ask them why ?
You look to those you love
To justify
You turned around and life's
Passed you by
Passed you by, again
Think of me when you're coming down
But don't look back when leaving town
Think of me when he's calling out
But don't look back when leaving town
Think of me when you close your eyes
But don't look back when you break all ties
Think of me when you're coming down
But don't look back when leaving town today
There goes the fear again, let it go
There goes the fear, let it go
Think of me when you close your eyes
But don't look back when you break all ties
Think of me when you're coming down
But don't look back when leaving town today.
Muchas gracias por la letra! Es tan hermosamente melancólica.

I love the old BR diesel inter-city train on here. 20 years on and it is still one of my favourite travelling songs of all time.
Always found it incredible that they used Euston station and the clicker departures board in there. Beautiful.
This song and video hit me like a ton of bricks when it came out. Years later it still has the same effect.
