He's not just a lefty-he's totally inverted. Playing bass and singing lead is super challenging to begin with. Jimi has difficulty set to 11 and kills it. So good. Lates 80's 12" single dance remix flavor at the end was top.
Just watched this again and remembering the atmosphere in the royal Albert hall! Spiritual! Looking around and seeing that wall of fans singing and cheering. So so special. So lucky to be there. Will always love this song.
Doves just wouldn’t look right without an upside down Fender bass in the middle and a cherry red Gibson ES-335 off to the right of stage! 😍😍😍 It’s comforting how when so many things are changing some things stay the same 🥰
on the album/single version, Jimmy asked his mate Mark and some of the percussionists from 'Inner Sense' to record a samba based outro. There's a few overdubs, but it was all played in for the recording. Performed live at Shepherd's Bush Empire for this track. I've still got the T shirt somewhere....! Great band, great music, great people.
Definitely one of the best tunes ever written, brilliant builds just take you to a da fantastically composed song. Jimmy, Andy & Jez are all lovely top down to earth blokes having worked as sound tech for them various times over the years in Manchester rehearsal rooms.
Chances are we've met! Used to work at the Greenhouse in Stockport and then at G2 in Ancoats.....always looked forward to having Doves in the big room! One of the few bands that weren't up themselves.....Good times :)
Love the double percussion You've turned around and life's passed you by... fuck man. True Edit (may 2024) Fuck! Watched this so so so many times for nothing. Love love love it... Nifty incoming to TCT x
There’s something about this song and other doves song … just brilliant lovely melody sound and lyrics… spiritually uplifting but somehow bitter sweet. Brilliant !
In the last 30 years Doves have been eclipsed, in terms of success, by quite a few other big Manchester bands. But emotionally and musically they will always be the greatest. Love to Jimi, hope you're good, Brother.
I always hoped they'd do a homecoming gig in Manchester and get a full bateria together for a finale. There was a big Samba and street percussion movement in Manc. back in the day and it wouldn't be too difficult to get around a hundred decent players together...it wouldn't be quite up there with Mocidade, or Portela, but it'd have a mancunian swagger...

Jimi has the best voice. It sounds like a bear dragging a massive rock out of a cave, but in a beautiful melodic way. Donated.
😂
😂😂😂😂❤❤❤

always amazing when they do Space Face. I remember seeing them do it at Glastonbury about 2004. Beezer.

I love this song, the older I get the more the lyrics resonate with me.

I love that so many Brit bands have figured out the right use for a 335!

I love this band and especially this song, but they didn't know how to make a true Samba😆
